View Full Version : A parallel universe

Imagine a parallel universe, in which men and women are physically and genetically clones of the earth people that we know. The only difference in this parallel universe is that men and women all wear the same type of clothing, with no distinction as to what constitutes typical men's versus women's apparel, makeup, hairstyles and so forth.
In what ways would CD's find an outlet in this parallel universe?

Under those circumstances CDing would be impossible. I don't think I'd want to live in that particular universe where I couldn't wear things I'm not supposed to...

Well if men and women wear the same clothes, makeup, hairstyles, crossdressing would no longer have any meaning and would not exist. i'm guessing there would probably be a subculture though of people who want to dress differently but it would not count as crossdressing.

If both men and women had the same apparel then,
1) the walk
2) the voice
3) the way the apparel was put on
Other things in place of apparel would the norm.
The definition of crossdressing would most likely change too.

It would certainly be dull and restrictive if everyone dressed the same.

Men and women would dress the same, but the clothing would fit differently.
Moreover, you didn't say that men and women would express themselves the same way.
So a person who CD'd to be "more like a woman", for whatever reason, would mimic those characteristics of women other than clothing. 'Stuffing' or wearing forms to shape their bodies as presented through the clothes. Affecting feminine communication styles.
Finally, such a universe would not last, as long as their are multiple genders, there will be competition for mates....that is what sex...which provides two prominent categories of gender, is all about. If there is competition, there will be differentiation....between men and women, and between women.
I think it would take a sexless universe to completely eradicate any motive or means of CDing.

If there was no distinction, perhaps there would be no competition, we could all be whatever we chose to be, but then again how would we let others know what we choose to be? Plus variety adds spice to live, it sure would be pretty boring!!!!!!!!!!!

Ask Rose Tyler.
She is in another parallel as we speak.

I can envision this being the case thousands of years in the future. What a boring place this would be! I am glad I am living here and now.

I suppose by that description, there would be no such thing as crossdressing, so no CD's.
You would have to break a social rule to be different. Frankly, I might choose that world if everyone were allowed to choose their mate without regard to their gender and one was free to express their internal identity.
Imagine this world: Nobody wears clothes or makeup. Nudity is the norm for both genders. People would still choose their mates by what they found attractive about that individual.
Conversely, if our society evolved to where anyone was free to wear anything, once that was the norm, wouldn't that also begin to dissolve what was male and female the same as if everyone wore the same clothing?

It would be time to shake that parallel universe up! I guess i would have to create a style or look that was unworldly of that universe! looking to our current fetish styles i guess we could create a continuum that would start a revolution on that planet. Now where's my space ship! I'll see you there!
I have to agree with Roberta. If they are men and women like in this universe they are never going to go round looking the same. They are going to want to differentiate so they can attract the opposite sex.
So if there are two sexes, and they have any kind of clothing or adornment, there is the basis for crossdressing.
And thank goodness for that.

They would start threads asking which restroom to use.
