Question about nails

First let me say how much I love this board, I have gotten some great information about life.
In one of DanaJ post she had a picture of her great looking finger nails. She said that they were her own nails but with a couple of coats of gel. What is gel and where can I get it, I am trying to grow my nails out but they break off by just looking at them :( .

Note that there are nail products that form a base coat while perporting to strengthen the nails and make the grow better.

If you want gels on your nails, you are going to have to go to a nail salon I am afraid - it is not a do-it-yourself project. Please PM me or YM me and I will be happy to help you further.
