hi ive been a crossdresser for years and would like to take it further but need advice on how to take the first few steps any advice would be helpfull

what do you mean ? like going full time ? or the hormone route

if thats the case the first thing you do is go talk with your doctor tell him how you feel. then get a referral to a gender specialist and if you have gender dysphora then you can start hormones the right way.
for me it was the doc the the shrink then after my diagnosis my doc started me on hormones along with the real life test . thats full time 24/7/365

This statement in and of itself sets off a red flag. You identify yourself as a CD not TG or TS. In my experience and opinion, you need to find out who and what you are before "going further". This means getting in to see a properly accredited and experienced therapist in gender.

"Going further" could be a major disaster without the proper support systems in place and a therapist should be at the center for you.
