View Full Version : Who are you?

MTFs only please...
I had a notion for a quick poll based on an area of interest I'd like to know more about. I've seen lots of pictures and read lots of descriptive text, particularly on the MTF section of this forum (and therein lies another question for later), and I am left with the impression that there may be some broad commonalities amongst us as to the "type" of dressing we partake in.
So, if I may, I'd like to test that supposition.
For example, in your dressing, do you seek to emulate someone you know or someone you'd like to know? Do you have an idealised vision in your mind's eye of womanhood / femininity that your dressing helps you to be? Or are you one who likes to plunge right in and create an incredible fantasy character world for yourself? Perhaps you prefer to go for the vanilla option and wear what suits your inner girl, depending on what mood you're in at any one time?
Or... as is likely (and I should know better by now)... is there some other reason that I haven't had the foresight to think of and put in this poll?!!!
For my part, I dress for my inner girl, the vanilla option every time for me - I'm just not suited to anything else, I think.
So, let me know what you think.
Thanks

I also tend to dress as to how I feel and what suits me at the time, I dont get to dress up fully very often, so I might change my outfits a couple of times; depending on the amount of time I have to dress.

Since I'm fairly new at the art of en femme...I might not fully understand it all yet...
But I dress as Stephanie when Stephanie has her time availaible...
She selects the style of clothing she likes, based upon what tastes appeal to her from either seeing the item in a store or seeing other girls wearing it....then having this general overview of whatshe likes and don't she creates her wardrobe and outfits and then presents then as she pleases....she has no real particular "got to do", "got to have", "must wear"...she simply puts on whatever catches her fancy..that's the nice thing about being a girl...make yourself look like anything you want...

I dress because it feels right. I feel down if I go too long without some kind of dressing. Sometimes just putting on a pair of knee highs and my favourite 4 inch heels is enough to cheer me up.

I'm one of the 20 who chose "I dress to suit my inner girl, whatever suits my mood." I dress the way I do, 24/7, because of who I am inside. And the mood my female gender is feeling.
I am happy with my clothes and the way I dress. I'm still learning the art of makeup but coming along well.
Today, I wore a blue print skirt, blue low cut blouse and loafers.

When I do dress up the full thing I do it as a woman I would like to meet. She's my invention of flirty girly and sexy. She may not be sane and maybe no real woman would have such disasterous dress sense but I like her.:heehee:

I said:
I dress to suit my inner girl, whatever suits my mood
and that means casual. Denim skirts, etc. I want to just be me.
However, if I suddenly became a girl, I would dress more boy-ishly. I would have short hair, and be in jeans.
Odd that

I wear what my inner girl feels comfortable wearing. If she could she would be in skirts or dresses most of the time but for everyday it's pants or jeans, at least for now.

Not really Sarah. It's just the outward expression of part of who I am. Not to mention I consider it an art form.;):)
I dress to emulate my idealized vision of femininity / womanhood.
now thats a deep question. but i have my idea of what a womanhood is a very insightful thread

assuming you are asking specifics about our style, I dress according to what a woman with my size and age would look best in.
My "en femme" outfits typically cover most of my skin, something appropriate for church.
For home I have a couple "bad girl" things but I don't wear those out.
As far as "why", I dress cause i grew up with Madonna, the material girl, she made me do it.

I am a male person with masculine and feminine characteristics, traits, personalities, and physical features. I wear the clothes that society has taught me that masculine and feminine people wear. I am both so I wear both.

Pretty much the vanilla woman about town for me. I feel natural and right as a woman out in the big bad world so I dress to fit the part and draw no undue attention, you just don't see 40 something BBW out in mini skirts fishnets and 4 inch spikes:eek:

I dress to express to satisfy my feminine side. As far as style I just go with what is appropriate for what I'm doing at the time: jeans for every day/occasionally a skirt, dress/gown for more formal occasions, club wear for dancing, etc.

Sarah I did not vote on your poll and this is the reason why. I do not understand your reference to the 'vanilla option'. To me this seems so vague that it almost borders on the level of offensive. I do not want to be considered as being so average as to be considered 'vanilla', which I interpret as being average, boring, the usual, or nothing out of the ordinary. I think that all of us here are unique and that there is no catagory such as 'vanilla' that can describe any of us here. We are all the same in that we are cd's but we are individuals as well. I for one feel I am my own self and do not fit into a 'vanilla' catagory such as you describe. I hope you understand this and do not take offense at what I am saying. I only want to make known what my opinion is on your choice of words.

I think she may have meant "main stream" or maybe a blend in type look.
I didn't find it offensive at all.Yes we are all different I agree with you on that statement so its hard to make a broad assumption about anything to do with CDers.

I dress just however my inner girl feels. Sometimes I want to look sexy, sometimes I dress in one of the old housecoats I got, just a real casual laidback look. Other times I like to look more professional dressing in a modest blouse and skirt. I dont have alot of clothes. More lingirie than anything since I will hardly go to bed without wearing something femme.
I would like to get more clothes but finances prevent me from doing so. What really sux is over the years I have had clothes and then out of shame or whatever I get rid of them and try to go striaght man but I always seem to come back to it. I am no longer ashamed of it but for certain reasons I cant be dressed all the time. so what I have does fine for the times I do have to dress

I dress for the inner girl as well, and those moods can be as varied as when I am in male mode. Sometimes white cotton panties, bra,t-shirt and jeans other times silky lingerie, stocking, heels, and a dress. Ninety percent of the time I'm male and love it ,but there are special times when I get to be the girl within and those moments are the best.:daydreaming:

Simply put I dress for me. Somedays it only to underdress others it's all or nothing. But whichever way I dress it's to satify my inner need. One thing I do know for sure is I don't ever see me stopping. Tried that been their and always come back.

If it's pretty, comfy, my size, and very femme I will wear it. The only real restriction is, it has to be lady-like. I don't want look like a tramp, hooker, vamp, porn star, etc. I also tend to dress my age, 40+.

When I dress, I try to be the person I would be had I been female instead of male. Granted, that female wouldn't always be dressed to the nines, so I harvest those moments when I would be. Heck, since I can't be a woman 100% of the time, I have to pick and choose what feminine moments I can share, so I pick the ones where I'd be all dolled up. :D

I like to dress to fit in to the situation I will be in, if going out I dress like the 50 yr old women I am, I strive to pass and blend in, I like to look like a mature well dressed women, I would never go out without my makeup, hair and nails looking good and this has helped me to pass as well. I feel as comfortable in a dress or skirt as I do in pair of jeans

It is part of life for me, to be done as frequently as possible. Mind you, the mood to dress must be there. Which it often is.
The dress type is tailored to suit the girl that I might have been. That is, the mood of the girl in my mind given a particular place etc.

This is really a rapid response thread.

I understood the term Vanilla and did not take offense to it. It is a generic term often used these days. Next to Strawberry, I prefer vanilla!
I agree with Karren Hutton....She is my hero---ess!!! send more pics!!!
I dress as often as I want and as less often as I want. I decide when and where I want to dress and I don't allow many outside influences to make my decisions for me.:D Fortunately, I am retired!:D
Sometimes I want to dress and take a drive and other times I just enjoy walking around the house in bra and panties.
I particularly enjoy wearing my breastforms, and a swimskirt (when weather appropriate of course) and grill out in the backyard!:D

I said "I dress to suit my inner girl, whatever suits my mood." I love getting dressed because it makes me feel so good. I love exploring my femme side.
Since I started CDing,I feel more and more comfortable everyday with my CDing. Its funny 10 years ago I would've never thought that I would take up CDing because I thought that men shouldn't do that, but the urge to dress was always there. Then that one night back last January when my wife and I decided that I'll get dress femme "just as a joke" (yeah right) and that was it.Felicity is not going stay inside anymore. I now dress every chance I get at home. Before work, after work, etc.
Felicity :)
I choose the last option. I dress for me. Like I said in another thread a few days ago, it depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes I might not dress at all.:2c:

Yes, we are all unique! No argument from me there. No, I didn't take offense. Far from it, your comments are all valid. They come from your point of view. Therein lies the difficulty in discussing this type of subject solely through the written word! Tracii G and Suzy pretty much summed up my intended meaning in their posts so thanks for that girls.

During those rare times that I get to dress fully I tend to go with my age or close to it. Some skirts; knee length, mostly slacks and a nice satin blouse and shear under things. My heels are less than 2.5 inches and I prefer flats now mostly loafers and skimmers. I'm 65 but look much younger(great at this age but a curse when I was younger. I buy my clothes at Talbots and Nordstrom. Now J. Jill has some stuff I like and they're as friendly as Nordstrom for buying. I don't buy much but what I buy lasts.

For me, it's the "idealised womanhood".
In the past, I used to fantasise about CDing a lot, with the fantasy being - putting on the sexiest stuff I could imagine - and it aroused me a lot. So that was my motivation initially - and not an idea of womanhood (or at least a very crude one).
I would lie if I said it's no longer there, now that I really crossdress. But there's something else as well. I aim to dress so that I look as close to a woman as possible. And when I am dressed, I fantasise about being treated as a real woman (or at least what I percieve that "being treated as a real woman" means): This means being with a nice and tender man. :daydreaming:
To elaborate a little bit more on this: I'm also attracted to (and envious of :)) other CDers who look "feminine". So I wonder if I want to express as a woman, since I actually AM partially a woman, or if I want to do that just because there is something about the expression of femininity in general that I like ...

Vanilla all the time. At my age and with 37 years of cding experience the days of fantasy dressing or dressing to fill a sexual need are long over. Now it is simply for comfort and a decent attempt at passing. I'm not trying to impress anyone. This is just a part of who I am so I might as well be relaxed and enjoy it with clothing that fits.

Ok, thanks for voting everyone. I appreciate your input.
So a majority satisfying their inner girl with a significant minority interested in an idealised vision of femininity / womanhood. I was kind of hoping the balance would be something like that. It's given me food for thought which may raise some more questions later. It would be interesting to map self-assessed CD/TG/TS natures across that poll. But not this late at night!
Thanks.:D
