I have my first appt scheduled for next week.
My question is what should I expect out of the first appt?

I assume you mean gender therapy. Very cool and congratulations!
Don't expect to do much else other than telling your life history on your first visit. The therapist will likely try to direct you here and there, but, mostly, it will just be a time for her or him to get to know you a bit. And, of course, you will also get to know them as well.
Good luck! :)

Markie,
Sharon has it right on...it will be a time to just tell them about yourself. How you got to where you are, hopes, dreams, fears, who you are, what makes you tick, etc. And everything does not necessarily need to come out in the first visit. Nuances in your personality will emerge over time and if your therapist is good they will direct you with good probing questions. Just be honest with yourself and with the therapist and you will discover a lot about yourself.
Hope it goes great!

I had therapy scheduled for 10-17-08 to get the ball rolling but cancelled it becuase I feel my children need a Father right now more than they need 2 Mothers.
I guess my life is on hold right now till either I cant stand it anymore, the kids grow up or I get Divorced.
I still will be doing my thing in private if and when I get the time.

I know how you feel. I tried therapy and it has helped me feel better. My best suggestion would be to go to therapy not to start changing your sex but just to understand yourself better. Now probably isn't the right time for you to transition and that's ok.

I also cant afford another bill at the moment. I am on a work leave due to a work injury but do not know when I will return and money is super tight now with the holidays approaching fast.
I have lived my life like this so far so I know I can hold on longer.

Markie, the best I can suggest is for now to stay connected to the TG community. Someday the time will be right. I have almost given up on becoming a woman because I have waited so long and have so much of my guy life hanging on.

This is exactly why I am hanging around.
Thanks for the support!
