View Full Version : A little further out in public

Before yesterday I had never been into a public building. But with the cooler weather I decided it was time for another baby step.

I wanted to go to a public place that was safe .... So I went to a local casino !!!!!! It turned out to be a great place to go. :D

The parking lot part was easy and as I went through the front door the hostess greeted me as friendly as could be. Once inside I was certain the entire place would stop gambling stampede towards me and crticize/laugh/heckle me but it took only a few seconds to realize that the world did not revolve around me :) and most people were too busy feeding slot machines to notice much anyway.

Armed with a pleasant confidence I challegned myself to make one lap around the casino. People saw me and I walked within inches of other people and everything was OK. I didn't want to go home but I'm not a gambler and the babysteps approach has worked well. So I walked back to my car and drove home for yet another walk to the mailbox!

I don't think I could have ever done it without the advice and encouragement from ya'll here. A big thanks to all of you!!!

~Amanda

Congrats for you Amanda. I should take your advice and try the casino too. If I could only get out past my SO whom doesn't approve. Keep up the "babysteps" and keep us posted on them please. Dylen

Congratulations to you , Amanda. I'm taking it step by step myself.

Today I dressed femme which was great and made dinner and I had to go pick up my wife from the SEPTA(our transit agency in Phila) Rte 100 train. I drove down, pulled in the parking lot and decided to step out and wait for my wife to arrive on the platform. There was a couple there and they didn'y pay no mind to me at all. When the train arrived and my wife saw me she was surprised to see on the platform. Even though she knew I was going to pick her up dressed femme, she thought I was just going to just sit in the truck. I told her I decided just do it and step out.She was surprised.

Casinos are great! Almost anyone can pass because most people in casinos are so involved with the table or the machine they are unaware of the guy wearing the dress. I went to a crossdressers event in a medium size casino last winter, none of the gamblers noticed a thing, a couple of the pit bosses made me but quickly went back to their tables.
Going through the mall on teen day might be another thing.

Good for you. What did your wife say afterwards? Was she OK with your picking her up on the platform enfemme? Mine doesn't like surprises so I would give her a heads up and see if she was Ok with it.

Congratulations Amanda."

Baby steps, will eventually lead to bigger steps.

The more that you go out, the more confident and comfortable you will get.

Slow and Steady wins the race

Have a good time when you are out

Malls are good too especially during the day when kids are in school
I am 6'3 (wear flats or 1inch heel) and no one gives me a second look. It
must be that everyone is wrapped up in their own business and never look.
It makes it much easier to spend a lot of time in the lingerie sections and hold up dresses to check the fit.
Good luck
Janet

Good for you, Amanda. Keep holding on to the truth that you have just as much of a right to be out and about as anyone else! It is also true that 99% of the time, most other people are so involved on what they are doing that they don't have the time or inclination to worry about you or anyone else. Now, what's next? :D

Casino. Why didn't I think of that? I went to the post office in the evening, whoppee. But the only public building around here that would be open at night is a hospital, and that didn't sound like a fun place to hang out (but safe). Since I don't gamble I never considered a casino, but I know they are around here someplace.

See you there.

My wife was fine with it. She was just surprised I stepped out to the platform. It was almost 7:30 and dark and no one didn't pay any mind at all.

BTW do some casinos still serve drinks for free?

In California, soft drinks are free. (Be sure to tip your waitress!) Alcohol, by law, cannot be served free. Las Vegas is a different story.

I've been in a couple of the Indian casinos in stealth mode -- women's jeans and a blouse covered with a men's sweatshirt. As has already been mentioned, no one notices.

Thank you for all your kind words. I am very glad I did it. My height (6'2") was my main concern but I wore something very simple: jeans, a nice empire waist top and even my favorite 3in heels. It was fun.
