As some of you know, I work at an airport as a passenger screener.
This morning, I was operating the metal detector (we rotate around the various stations every 10 mins) and someone approached who I thought looked familiar.
I thought he looked like a member from here from New Zealand who I've chatted to quite a bit but with all my co-workers around and with his family around (not to mention if I was wrong) I couldnt say anything but I was very sure it was the member who I thought it was.
So first thing this afternoon, I got on this site and sent off a message to check and it turns out that it was none other than NZGirl who I had seen this morning and she was heading back home from a holiday in queensland.
Her GF had recognised me too apparantly and also didnt say anything.
At least we got to meet in the end but what are the odds of her walking through the metal detector that I am working on, at the time that I am operating it and I had no idea when she was flying home or from which airport.

I would say the odds are quite good. I work in aviation too, as a pilot. That part of it (pilots) is quite small, everybody knows everybody. The old adage , if you knew six people, and they knew six people you would know everyone in the world really holds true. Princes the number of people you screen in a days time is huge, so your bound to know someone that comes through your check point. It's indeed a small world.
