Tonight was dedicated to the kid. Tomorrow we're going out on the town for our halloween party. So tonight we're sitting around and my wife says, she will have to decide what to wear. I said confidently, I've got mine all picked out. She asked what I was dressing up as? I said, it's a secret. Then she says, in a flat tone, "you're not going to dress as a girl again are you?"... keeping my smile held back, I just repeat, it is a secret.
I've already invested too much in getting my Palin outfit together so I will be doing it. It will be interesting, I trying to keep up my mood though, I've got some butterflies. The challenges: wife's parents who are ultra conservative, but have a good sense of humor are coming to visit (unplanned) so they will see me dressed. Second part, they have no idea I would ever dress as a girl. Third, going out with some good friends that we haven't seen in a while, they will get a kick out of it, but you never know for sure, fourth: We will be going to a public event, so mixed bag of people, but I'll try to handle that with humor and charm. My mode of operation will be to look as convining as possible and not overdo the acting fem part...cause I think people feel the most uncomfortable when they can't place you: ie: guy in a dress just having fun vs. who does that guy think he is fooling? And for the wife, her having seen it before, its old news, so my plan to come out to her will be more matter of fact and next year maybe I'll do something else for a change, I just hope she doesn't say to her folks its old news because its new to them.
One other thought is about my 5 year old kid seeing me...she will understand it is a costume, but I might have her help me get ready before I put the wig on so she isn't shocked...last year I put a clown wig on and after two minutes...she said take it off...she wanted to see daddy again! My only concern is I don't want her to ruin the surprise until I'm 100% ready. ...mommy mommy...daddys dessing like a girl!...come see... :-)
Just had to let some thoughts out...thanks for reading. I'll followup with photos once the deed is done.
