My dance club had a Halloween costume party tonight, so I dressed up and went by myself. I wore a little denim mini skirt, from Target, orange turtleneck, an old sleeveless denim jacket, orange and black striped tights, and Nine West, stilletto high heel, oxford shoes. Also glow-stick earrings.
It was a pretty loud costume, and I wasn't sure what reactions to expect. As it turned out, I was approached by women all evening long, who were very complimentary about my outfit. One even said she had worn the same outfit at a party the night before. Many of the women danced with me.
Then there was a costume contest, and I took the plunge. It was judging by audience applause, and although my costume did not win, I was a semi-finalist.
Only one woman asked if I was gay, and I denied it on a stack of bibles.
Although my feet got a lttle sore from so much dancing in the stiletto heels, all in all, it was a very successful event, and I was well accepted as a dressed up male.
