Got my ears pierced

I just wanted to tell everyone that I went to the Mall last night with my GG girlfriend (donnasweetheart) and she held my hand while I got both my ears pierced. We had talked about it some time ago and decided that the next time I took a week off from work that I could get them pierced. Friday was the beginning of my vacation so,, There you go,,
I got the 3 mm gold ball in each lobe, and it didn't hurt a bit, untill I got home and forgot that I had them on and reached for my right lobe and pulled down,,, Ouch,, I won't forget and do that again.
No one has seen them yet. I am just going to wing it and see what happens.
I can't wait till I can take them out and replace them with some more feminine ones,,

Good for you. I wanted to have me ears pierced too, but most of the people know that the drab person would never get his ears pierced.

YEH! Good for you. I know it's tough, but I've had my ears pierced since August. I finally took the studs out and had a chance to wear girly earring about a month ago... What a great feeling. Just remember to wash them religiously and keep them clean. Don't remove the studs until after the period they tell you to wear them. Rotate them in each direction at least once a day, and so forth.

And BTW. I've been wearing mine for over three months, and NO ONE at work has said a thing to me yet. I even wore (semi) girly earrings to work on Halloween day. I know my co-workers have noticed, but they just haven't said anything.

Congratulation, I yet have to get my ears pierced(which will hopefully happen tomorrow).

I can really imagine pulling on the earring to hurt. How did the first night go? Myself, I am not as scared about having the pierced, cannot be much worse having several acupuncture needles around your ear, but more about how I will be able to sleep the first few nights.

My plan is to get mine done on the day my divorce is final. That should be on Nov. 21. That is/was the one thing that the wife would not let me do. Well when she becomes my x what she thinks won't matter any more now will it. Woo Hoo!!!!

Congratulations Donna!!!! Way to go girl!!!! I know this can be a hard decision to make sometimes but I will bet that you will not regret doing it. I had mine done at Claire's 4 weeks and 5 days ago on Sept. 30th. I too had them put in the 3 mm gold ball studs. I am getting close to my 6 weeks and am anticipating being able to wear some pretty earrings that are comfortable. Since the piercing I have recieved only one comment. It was neither positve or negative but rather one of surprise that I had the courage to do this. I feel really great about having this done and imagine you feel the same way. It won't be long and you will be enjoying those pretty danglies and hoops.

Well...glad you got waht you wanted. My story is still in progress.

I had them pierced 6 weeks ago...I heard about it on Monday after doing it by coworkers. No comments since then. I think people become used to it. It also helps when your not self-concious about it.

I did the 3mm gold balls too. I decided after 5 weeks that I was going to change earrings to be ready for Halloween. Left ear was great. Right ear was okay for the switch but, I sleep mostly on that side. It was a little tender. I got 10mm child hoops as my alternatives. 4 days later (Last Wednesday) I bought my first dangling earrings and tried them. I got a little blood from the right ear. Switched back to the hoops at night Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at bedtime. The hoops or the 3mm balls will be in until the tenderness is completely gone from the right ear. The 6 weeks advised is definitely a good idea.

One thing I don't remember from my web surfing about earrings. After you are completely healed, do you need to regularly clean if you are leaving the same earrings in your ear?

congratulations! I know it is a big step but it is worth every little painful reminde when you roll over in sleep. Soon you will be able to wear other earrings and realy enjoy yourself.

The piercing heals as a small tube of tissue that surrounds the stud shaft. It takes at least 6 weeks to get the entire tube to heal from end to end. According to what I have been taught, the tube heals at the same rate all around the tube, but the ends that are exposed to the air dry out faster and seem to heal a bit faster. Infections can occur if you do get foreign matter inside the tube before it totally heals. Just washing the area with clean and soapy water during a shower will keep them mostly clean. Remove any crusty material and use the slightly antiseptic solutions that most earring stores force upon you or supply you with when you get the earrings.

Changing studs before the earring wound heals completely is ok if you make sure to clean your hands and the stud that you are putting in, common sense.

Earrings are so much fun. between my wife and I we have tons lol. don't get me wrong it took me 30 years to get them pirced, but I am so glad I did.

now everyone is trying to get me to get second holes this winter.. we shall see.

Gratz hun.I also just got mine done a few days ago.My wife has been bugging me for atleast a year to do it,but I still fear my father who always said if I ever got them he'd rip them out.Sad thing is..I think he would LOL.Anyways it feels great and since I work at a motorcycle shop none of my co-workers said anything.I got small little diamonds....well diamond look alikes :)

Keep them clean and use the antiseptic they gave you. One of my piercings became infected and it was a bit unpleasant for a few days. It takes forever before they heal enough to change to other styles. For many of us getting our ears pierced is a major step.

Congratulations DW......I'm sure you're nervous with excitement having to wait for the holes to heal........after several years of having only my left ear pierced, I finally got my right one done 2 months ago. It's so wonderful being able to wear A PAIR of 'rings (instead of just one). Welcome to the "club", hun. :hugs:

Still can not believe that a man having both his ears pierced is such a big deal nowadays.

I have had both ears pierced for years and no one has ever questioned me on why I have got my ears pierced.

Having your ears pierced these days is tame compared to what other parts of you that you can have pierced.

Hay Hun. well a little story about MEEEEEEEEEEE . LOL this might help you deal with your new look.Well where to start. OK My frist ear pierced when I was 19 , 1989. Dam I am getting old LOL. I got the one back then that did not say I am gay.That would have been the right ear only. I got the left one pierced. That was the one the guys where getting. Well for years that was it just studds. Then one day I stoped at a truck stop ( I drive long haul an 18 wheeler) and saw this cool pair of tringanal dangly ear rings. So I bought them.Since I only had one ear pircing I put one in. The weight was wonderfull , ever time I move my head it banged back and forth on my neck.OHHHHHHH that was nice. I found myself shaking my head just to feel it. One day I thought I am going to get the side done. I went to a salon where they did ear pirceing and had 2 put in one in the right ear , and one more in my left.( THIS was in 2000 and I had not done any CDing untill this year.) When the time to change them out(I put the other dangly in) I did get some looks , but no one realy cares in the end . I now had 3 ear rings but I changed the right one to soon and with one that was to heavy for that new hole. I was sore for a month .I was rubbing it alot to make it stop hurting, them one day it came off in my hand. The right of the ear ring was slowly tearing my lobe. Now there is long cut in my ear. I had to when it healed to get a new pireceing so I went in there and got two more. now I have two earing in both ears. Then I though Why not two more . Now I have three in both ears. I thought I would get two more but when they were put in the hurt all the time so I took them out and have not got new ones put back in . Yet. But the rule of thumb is, the higher you go up the ear the more it will hurt and the longer it will take to heal. I left the studds in for a full year then (in all ear rings holes I put pretty dangley ear rings of all types. Even ones the everybody knows are girly ear rings. NO one has said much to me except the people who knows me well. I get teased be them , but it all in good fun.And if you can't laugh at your self what's the point. My first time I went out As Christina I got my nails done bright red, very pretty . But after the two days in a row of my CDing blits , I could not get ride of them ..... so I did not and that was AUG 9 2008... I have had painted nail since ,yes in drab while driving truck,just all the time. You would be very sirprized to hear I have only 3 comments on them ,and that been from girls. No guy has said anything again excepet the people who know me. and they have not teased me , I think it because if they did I could sue them for sexual harasment . ALL in all having long dangly ear rings won't be as bad as you think. Just don't put heavy ones in to soon . Take your time LET THEM HEAL GOOD. You have your whole life to enjoy them so don't rush it. START WITH SLEPPER RINGS, then after they have been in there for a month or two then go with something a little heverer, if the sleepers did not hurt. Oh I sleep in my danglys 24/7 I only take then out when I change them out. Well I know I have been Long winded but I thiught I would shere with you a little of my ear ring wisdom.
