I have to say that I absolutely love summer -- the hot weather, the green trees, and the gorgeous flowers that can be found everywhere you look. In fact, my whole attitude is that the hotter it is, the happier I am.

However -- and this is a HUGE "however" --the warmer temperatures make it so much more difficult when I want to venture out.
In the winter, I'm able to bundle myself up in big, fluffy sweaters (which I adore, by the way), pull on a coat or jacket, wrap a scarf around my neck, wear gloves, and even a hat if I choose. If anyone looks at me, all they probably see of me is the front of my face. And it is more natural to wear heavier make-up in the cold, so the face that is visible isn't really me anyway. :)

But now that it is warmer out, I find myself more hesitant about venturing outdoors, at least beyond the confines of my backyard. Short sleeves or, God forbid, sleeveless tops advertise my unfeminine shoulders and upper arms. The same light fabric tops show off my decidedly masculine figure and foundation wear and corsets are impractical because of the heat and the tendency to show through lighter guage clothing.

My question is to all you other girls who go out in public. How do you do it?

Good question Sharon,

and one that has been palying on my mind on and off all winter, as, now I have transitioned I am going to have to keep the 'details' of my body discrete, ie. my still hairy torso (although things are improving).

In years gone by - as him - I sweated like the proverbial pig and I would just wear a t-shirt even in the coldest times of winter. I summer, I would just have to think about moving and I'd have half the Amazon running down my body.

However, the last 2 years I have noticed that I am feeling the cold quite badly now, which is great from the point of view of transitioning. I have also noticed that since transitioning (or since I started on hormones, it would appear), I down sweat (sorry, glow) anything like I did even last year, so I'm hoping that now I'm on the change, so is my 'glowing', and it seems to be down to my hormone treatment.

I am still covering up my arms (and always will cover my shoulders - broad shoulders= broad straps on your dresses, keep things covered to give the appearance of narrower shoulders), and although it has got warmer, I'm still able to wear light-weight, sleeved tops without sweating (which would very quickly make my make-up run).

Hot, humid weather can be a trial for all women - GG, Trans, or CD. Make up wise - go with a good scar cover stick. use a spnge to blend and feather it out, then apply loose powder over it to "set" the cover stick. Then do your blush, and any other makeup over this. If and when you start to sweat or glow however you prefer to call it use a clean handkerchief to BLOT not wipe the sweat away. Also helps if possible to avoid the hot sun - seek out the shade where possible or avoid the hottest times of the day. Clothing wise - try an oversize "Big shirt" worn open over a tank top and jeans or light colored slacks. Capri's are also good. Be creative and have some fun.

I just love the summer as I can now walk around outside my house dressed! Or, really, semiundressed as I do prefer miniskirts and the "tarty" look. I live in a very private house, and am able to walk around our patio and grounds (sounds soooo rich, really, it's 1 acre fenced, surrounded by woods). I just love the sounds of my heels on the concrete. Click, click, click, wobble!

u can also shave your legs in the winter and get away with it (gonna be wearing pants all the time anyway). It's ok for black guys to shave their legs since it can be curly, but shaved legs on a white guy would look odd while in boy mode.

I've lived in the tropics for the last five years and its not easy being a crossdresser in summer i can say!

I'm fortunate that i'm an office worker and if i can underdress at home in the aircon and get to the office without breaking into a sweat, i get by ok.

But there is noway i can go outside enfemme in summer - it just wouldn't work!

Winter here is very pleasent and if i could pass (i don't), i could spend most of the year outdoors.

Basically, cd'ing stops over the summer - i just can't pull it off and be comfortable.

Go for broke.

That's my motto, whatever it means.

I'd probably find a see thru over shirt, wear a T or something under it, and some pants to match.

I guess it isn't that same for me as everyone else...

Summer is the time I dread the most because of the temperature. If it's 85 or warmer, I perspire so much, it's like someone poured a glass of water down my back. Not real conducive to a feminine appearance huh? :bonk:
Here in Sacramento, our summers are brutal. 90 degree plus days without end. I just about live indoors most of the summer, and only go out when I have to.
I want to live in Lake Tahoe again!!!!

Thanks so much for the advice (is that correct Tris? :D ) girls, although it seems that several of you face the same predicament I do, and the ones that say there's no problem are young, skinny bit**es!
I'll be going out sometime in the next few days in search of a lightweight cardigan sweater and/or a blazer or two to see if I can find something that matches my favorite outfits. I can't imagine being cooped up all summer just because of my shoulders. I've come too far to shut myself inside again!

Thanks again to all of you! :kissing:

I'm the opposite. I dress less in the winter, but that's only because I don't have anything warm. I don't have a lot of warm guy clothes either. I love the summer. Thankfully, the Bay Area has a wonderful climate. Never too hot, never too cold.

The one time I have ventured out, I wore a polo shirt and a skirt. Eventually, big shoulders be damned, I may go out in a tank and shorts or something. That's just how I dress in guy mode, and how I want it in gal mode. It's not like I can't be discovered just by covering my shoulders, so I may as well be comfortable. Trouble is, braless works best, and I've not quite mastered the adhesive to work against perspiration. The BF Store assures me if I do it right the adhesive is impervious to moisture.

And I think shaved legs on a guy looks just fine. I suppose because I shave mine all year and wear shorts all summer. I'm actually to the point where I see a guys hairy legs and think that doesn't look so great. But then, I'm no longer married, the kids are mostly grown, they'd dare not fire me if I was found out (that would be my lotto win). I have only my delusional mind to deal with, and I'm thankful for that. No your not. Yes I am. Shut up!
