Hi girls , i wanted to tell you a short story of my most recent adventure out shopping. I live in New York, Halloween week I went into an avenue shop in New Hyde park on Long Island. After looking around for about 10 mins I finally told a saleswoman in her 50"s that I had lost a bet with my wife and had to dress as a woman for a Halloween party. She showed me dresses, skirts, blouses and jeans. I even was allowed to try them on. I was in totall heaven. The topper was when I was checking out, I needed a high waister girdle or waist nipper. She handed me 2 to go try on. It was the best shopping experience I had ever imagined in my life. They even wanted to see me dressed for my party. Which I did on Halloween morning. It was crowded with about 6 or 7 ladies , a few stared but after telling them all I was going to a party 5 even came over and commented me on my make up. I got so brave I went driving to a few more stores after that. It was the best. Take care now, Michelle

Hi Michelle

That must have been fun. Any pics ? I love Avenue. I got a spring jacket there for $20.00 and I love their shoes.

I'd have loved to hear her chatting with the coworkers on break...

"Yep... Same as last halloween... 50 guys came in and they all lost bets with their wives"... "If I won a bet with my husband I shure wouldn't let him crossdress... I'd be sporting new jewelry!!""

:D

At least you had fun and that's what counts!! Lol

But the next time you go there you can't use Halloween as an excuse, unless you say "I got hooked..."

Now, take pictures of yourself in the outfit you bought. Bring them back to the store and show the sales associate. Now you have made a friend. She will love them.

Ask her for advice on another outfit you are thinking about for the holidays because you had sooo much fun doing Hallowenn and she will be your biggest cheerleader!

Amen Kristen !!:daydreaming: I have done this myself and get all giddy and girlly evey time I can do it. I have 2 or 3 SA's giving me all kinds of help and advice. I just love going to the store and asking to try on a couple things, then the SA's bring several more things to try on that you might like, and you step out and let them look and more often than not even the other customers will give advice also.

Avenue carries the larger sizes. They cater to cd's. Last year at our Erie Gala, the local Avenue store provided the clothing for our cd's to wear in our fashion show. The store manager and her husband attended the dinner and event.

So--do you really think your excuse of losing the bet was bought by the staff--NOT. When shopping at Avenue, just come out to the staff. They expect you to try on. They want you to look your best and, above all, they want you to buy.

Actually, a good GF (gg) and I had the most wonderful Halloween this year (well, the Saturday after), strolling around for a couple of hours at a mall, with me wearing a REALLY Cute Black and Gold Cheerleader Outfit, Brown Wig & Ponytail, Sheer Pantyhose (matching my skin tone), light makeup, and Neon PINK Panties/Lollies/Spankies/Briefs, just for the benefit of the curious - and the escalator riders behind us! Even tried on a few outfits in Walmart (no snickers. please), a visit to Victoria's Secret (mandatory, of course), AND, I even got fitted for and bought a Cute pair of Mary Janes (shoes) at JC Penny's - The salesgirl said they wouldn't really go well with the cheerleader outfit, so I changed back into my white tennies. Would have been nice to wear them out in the daytime, but I don't want to give us a bad reputation as 'Fashion Challenged'! :o

But later that evening, we had a nice walk around downtown together in them, with a more appropriate dress, to break them in - Very Comfortable! 2-1/2 inch chunky heels make your A** look GREAT, btw! And they really helped my 'walk'!
A few GUYS even checked me out! :daydreaming: Guys aren't my thing, but it's always nice to be 'Appreciated'!

...of course, this was a few towns away - I'm not 'Out' at home, and despite the holidays, I'm a big chicken, but it also gave me a LOT more Freedom and Confidence!

Shopping in 'Drab' I like to avoid excuses - I kind of enjoy the assorted reactions! (again, several towns away, and FYI, I have Black Belts in 2 forms of martial arts, so safety isn't a problem for me! :tongueout)

I Heart  my GF! :hugs:

After reading your post twice, I'm still not sure if there was an actual party/bet or not, but I think I might have a wonderful idea for you. Wait a week or two and go into that store some morning when there isn't a lot of traffic and distractions. Find your kind sales lady, thank her for all of her attentions, and then start your story: "I have a confession to make, I didn't have a bet with my wife." "I just love to dress up and feel pretty, perhaps you have met people like me before." etc. etc. (I don't know your story, but you get the idea on the details.)

I'll just bet she knew what was up! She will be doubly impressed with your candor, you will have made a new friend....and you two can work toward building a business relationship that will be a lot more comfortable.

You can choose to do it that way or not, but wouldn't it be such a great relief to share your feelings with someone, out in the open, with no need for stealth, no need for untruth's. Handle this situation well, conduct yourself like an adult, and these things have a way of multiplying. The next time the sales associates get together and there's conversation about, "those strange men who come in here buying women's clothes," she can tell them about someone who was candid and didn't act suspicious or crazy. That's how this war gets won, with little victories all along the way.

Peace and Love, Joanie
