Well it's come I'm going under the knife on Tuesday to have my gall bladder out LOL it's only took them 18 years to get me sorted and not before time coz its chronic now. Irf everything goes ok it should just be key hole surgery but with it being chronic I know there is a chance that they may have to do full surgery If its only key hole I will be off work two weeks if it's full it will be six weeks!!! I'm not looking forward to looking after myself after major surgery but I did after my two children as I had sections with both of them lol my ex husband did nothing to help infact he went back to work as soon as I came out of hospital and it was a nightmare caring for two children after major surgery, a baby and a very active three year old.
Lol it will save me some money coz i will be on a special diet apparently after the opp. OMG I've lost a stone lately although I guess some more weight won't hurt, infact it will be better for my asthma xx Felix :hugs:

Ah, Felix your having a bouncing baby gallbladder ! My father had the keyhole type surgery on his gallbladder around 70 yrs. he was back getting around amazing fast. He did have to lay off the fried pork chops with gravy he loved so much.

Well it's come I'm going under the knife on Tuesday to have my gall bladder out

And there wuz I, all set to wish you congratulations... :)

Been there, a couple of years ago - it's not big deal, honest. :) The keyhole scars fade pretty quickly.

Make sure you drink several litres of fluid a day for the first two days, to wash the anaesthetic out of your system - that's what makes you feel ill? And don't be surprised if your shoulders feel sore afterwards - it's 'cos they pressure your thorax, to get at everything through the keyholes?

Hang in there Felix, waking up in recovery seems to be the worst part. Healing time is pretty quick no matter which way they access it - we had to go the full route but it only took about 3 weeks to fully heal. Cheated though, wore an ace bandage wrapped round my middle and went back to work 2 days later :o

It's funny but they say to stay away from peanuts and deep fried foods after having it out, have only met a few folks that couldn't tolerate both in small amounts at meals.

Good luck!!

Good luck and hope it all goes well. What does a gall bladder do exactly?

I had mine out a few years back. I had a stone the size of a golf ball. Not a big deal. They went though the belly button. A few days and I was as good as new. Just watch the fatty foods after the surgery.

Felix

Thanx Kerrianna and Stephanie :hugs:

Hi Suzi and thanx :hugs: The gall bladder is full of bile which helps to emulsify fats and neutralizes acids in foods which are only partly digested. So when mine is gone I will have to be careful of fatty foods lol which isn't a bad thing at all. But I'm really careful now as the amount of pain I had duribg the last attack was so bad I couldn't keep anything down for days!!! xx Felix

LOL Mylitta wants to gate crash the party :D and thanx hun for the kind thoughts :hugs:

No need for the 3x2 now Hun :(
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I got a call today from the hospital saying my opp had been postponed I was dissapointed to say the least. Apparently my platelets are up which worried the nurse specialist and me she wants to discuss it with the surgeon and consultant anesthetist before continuing. I've looked it up coz as soon as she said raised platelets I was like ohhhh coz I do know what this could mean, hense me double checking when I got home. Plus she told me my Doc may have to do extra tests, well yup if its anything to do with platelets
Jez I don't want this to mess with my gender stuff I really need to get both sorted. She did suggest it may be because of my change of diet lately and that my iron had dropped. Well yup I don't eat red meat but I do eat lots of greens and I take supplements but obviously I'm not doing enough!!! Oh well she said she is gonna keep me on the emergency list so I will be in on the next available appointment. So hopefully I'll get a call tomorrow telling me what the heck is going on with my stupid body now lol
On a brighter note I had a wonderful message off my sister telling me she fully supports me and how should she refer to me now as it is most important! So I guess she fully understands xx Felix
the 3x2 now Hun :(

Thanx Kat for the kind thoughts :hugs: xx

Hi peeps well everything is fine and the docs are happy with all the meds I'm taking which only consist of allergy tabs when needed, my inhailer again when needed, vitamines and a supplement that I started in May which has helped me I think. They weren't at all concerned about this natural supplement I am taking so I'm pleased Mind you I won't be getting any more of this I don't think coz it costs too much and can't afford it anymore Petty coz I think it really helps me.
Anyways my opp is now on the 9/12/08 for definite so looks like I'll miss all the festivities in school for the first time since I've worked there just hope I can make it for the staff night out coz I've paid for that
Nine days after I got my appointment at the gender clinic so I hope I'll be ok for that coz that is like so important to me xx Felix
