Hello!
I just returned from a three week trip to Thailand and Cambodia. While there I had to checkout the nightlife and especially the clubs that feature "ladyboys". Bangkok has a few, but the capital of the CD crowd is in Phuket. A whole section of town is dedicated to the ladyboy crowd. These creatures are beautiful! As beautiful as the gorgeous ladies of Thailand....no difference. Unfortunately, the main gest of the clubs is the beautiful CD or lady wants you to take them home to your hotel and have you take care of them. On one street in Phuket, there must have been over a thousand beauties Gogo dancing and trying to get you to buy them a drink. At a local eatery, a buffet sign said that the "all you can eat buffet" cost 105 baht for men, 70 baht for women, and 88 baht for ladyboys! What was most interesting was that the tourists on La Banda Street preferred to stare at the "ladyboy" crowd more then the regular ladies. All in all, a great street that is sexually charged and full of beautiful willing bodies. My wife did not want to go and see the street, so I had to come home and make love to her after visiting it!

Did you get to dress up while you experience the "katoy" or Ladyboys.

This may not be apples to apples but on many adult sites they seem to be very exploited.
My heart cries when I see many whom I can relate to have to live a life of prostitution or porn just to make it thru the day. These girls seem to be at the fore front of all that exploitation.
Then again I am to shy to old and not good looking, so no one would dare exploit moi for sex.

98 views and no one....well, hell, I guess I will.
So is the "PH" in Phuket pronounced like the "PH" in phone? I know, childish, but hey:D

I suppose that's somewhat interesting, but I don't know how much progress is made for us there, when transitioning girls have to resort to prostitution to survive.

No matter how glamorous they can make themselves, it's just as tragic that they can't simply live their lives like an ordinary human being, just for being born trans.

It is terrible when people are forced into that kind of work, which happens to many TG people the world over especially toafford SRS.

However I have met a couple of GG sex wokers and am friends with one, (never been a client with any though), and I can certainly say that some do it because of choice not neccessity. Some are in that business because they genuinely enjoy it and for no other reason.

My friend is extremely well educated (multiple degrees) has a husband who is fine with her doing that work and who brings in an already sizable income.

I also have friends who have studied the industry with very interesting findings.

Decriminalising and regulating sex work is essential for protecting the workers from exploitation and to fight the spread of AIDS. The documentary Rampant was on again on tv recently which shows how critical the decriminalisation of prostitution and the organisation of sex-worker unions and cooperation between the government, the police and the sex workers in bringing regular condom use to the industry was one of the key steps in fighting the spread of AIDS in Sydney.

Another key is to fight employment discrimination against TG people.
So that people are not forced to rely on sex work as the only way to pay for SRS, hormones or just daily food.

That way sex work becomes a matter of choice, not a desperate measure.

A friend of mine's mum went over to Thailand not too long ago with her son, He's about 15 or 16... The pimps over there wanted to buy him to be a "ladyboy" they said he was gorgeous and they wanted him right or wrong.

They didn't get him though.

Charlie, what a shame! Five years ago, my friend and I spent an evening on that very street on Phuket Island, ( pronounced Fooket). With several Katoy staying with us until we left. U really have to see them up close. Some of them r PERFECT!
Except for the crotch area. ( I'm ASSUMING they were male. I didn't check to be sure!):o

The one I liked in particular, bragged about his contacts, movies he would appear in, etc.
He sounded VERY similar to a gorgeous young GG woman who gave me a massage in Bangkok some years before. She spent the entire time bragging about her Japanese boyfriend. And all the gifts European men brought her!

Both her and my Katoy aquaintance, seemed to be enjoying themselves quite a lot! Altho they were both prostitutes, they were both seemed PROUD of who they were! A lot more so than some folks I know where I live!

I found this post extremely disturbing. Reading some articles in the NYTimes and other sources leads me to believe that many sex workers and "entertainers" around the world are in conditions little different than slavery. This is true even in the US and Europe. As far as these "boys" seeming happy, remember many of the accounts of the pre-Civil War South comment on the contentment of slaves. This sounds far to much like exploitation of poorer and possibly underage people.
Sorry for the "soap box" rant.

I befriended a few tgirls in the past from the Philippines that worked in that trade, and as was said in another post, they were absolutely gorgeous. I asked them why work in that atmosphere, why not a regular job, most all said tgirls there are truly despised by most employers so they chose the online sex trade. Sad indeed but it seems like not much of a choice unfortunatly for some.

I still tried talking them out of doing it and finding something else as a job, something that wouldn't rob them of their dignity like it seemed the guests on their site had no problem doing to them.
I'd stop in and chat w/ them periodically but had a hard time acting pleasant to some of the guests that would be there ready to demoralize these poor tgirls.

I found their site just searching vid chats one night and saw a trans section so checked it out for curiousities sake, didn't really like what I found. I agree w/ some of the thoughs here, to many are exploited and not by choice, and yes some do want to live that life and infact enjoy it but my sympathies are for those that don't really want to do it.

What I'd like to see is some of these tgirls have a shot in the fashion industry as one idea for employment and opportunity, some are truly gorgeous and I think it could be a great marketing ploy for the right company to give them the job, and a novel idea to sell their product. Just my .02

Its good to get the facts because there is ideology used instead of data often, even amongst prestigious papers and magazines.

Indeed there is sex-slavery both overt and debt-slavery which is effectively slavery in much of the world.

This is a problem around the world and amongst some of the illegal brothels and street prostitution in Australia.

And there are issues where people especially TG people end up resorting to sex work with no other source of income.

And amongst illegal sex work there are high rates of abuse, of drug use, of STD transmission.

However, the average sex worker in Australia is not in any way enslaved. On average they have University degrees or working their way through University.

And their average level of job-satisfaction and happiness is equal to that of average Australian office workers!

There have been numerous sociological and criminological studies done on this. The results are clear. The best way to help those exploited by sex work is decriminalisation and regulation to protect them from abuse, to look after their health, to give them access to ways out of the work if that is what they want.

That protects them and the rest of society. Especially by vastly reducing the spread of STIs.

And the most effective way to protect TG people from being compelled to enter sex work is to ensure it is illegal to dicriminate aginst them (calling on your representatives to pass a Gender-inclusive ENDA in the USA for example) and to ensure that hormones and SRS are available and accessible to the poor via whatever health system is best in your country.

And I can say this. In this last month I have had several conversations with a GG sex worker who is highly educated, is not in any way enslaved, is not forced to do the work for any reason, has been doing that work regularly for over half a decade and who still enjoys it thoroughly. She does it because she likes it.

But around the world many who do that work do so out of desperation. Plenty are literally slaves. For their sake taking the desperation out of the equation, taking the crime out of the equation and helping them protect their safety and health are vital.

I've been there also and yes many of the lady boys are very beautiful. But, I would never mess with them or the real ladies you see. No matter how beautiful and inviting they are. Aids is a very major problem and certainly not worth the risk. Just look and enjoy.
