Therapy went good today. My Psychologist said She wanted to do a mental/stress/wellness test on me to make sure I was mentally stable to start Hormone treatment.

My question is I know you can go on a High, Medum and Low dosage to get fast or slow results. I want to go the medium route so I know you all got different prescriptions cause we are all different so I was wondering how much is a Medium dose of Hormones? I wanted to tell the Doctor what I expected to take but in case they wanted to give me a high dose to start off with.

I know the final answer is what the doctor subscribes.

I was just wondering what typical doses of all the stuff/hormones one needs to take to begin transition.

i don't know exact numbers, but usually you start out on a low dose of anti-angrogen for a few months, and work up to larger doses. after a month or two (depending on how you're reacting), i think you are supposed to start some sort of estrogen. however, i know a girl who just jumped onto 200mg of spiro. she's going DIY, and has been on hormones before, but it really kicked her ass to do that. you want to ease your body into it.

My endocrinologist also started me off slow(100 mg spiro, .625 his hormone of choice) just to see how my body, specifically a couple under-performing internal organs, would handle the meds. It was aggravating to be at such a low dosage for a month or two, but the doctor was as much concerned about my overall health as the HT. As time went on and I had no serious complications, he increased the dosage of the prescriptions.

Thanks a lot for the help and how they first start to introduce it to your body.

What would be the first results I would typically notice?

I noticed tenderness of the breasts after a month or so, became moody as all get out, and had so many hot flashes that I could have turned the furnace off. :)

Tenderness is an understatement.

It's a good pain.

I still have some in my right side :) It lets me know things are still growing in there...

After my blood tests, my endocrinologist put me straight on 200mg of spiro a day. I can't say I've noticed any huge changes or problems apart from feeling a little tired and a drop in weight in the first few weeks.
That was all 2 months ago. Next week I'm back again following yet more blood tests and at this time I hope I'll get started on the hormones.

Probably the dose they put you on is dependant on the outcome of the blood tests, so they will have an idea on how your body will cope.
