Today, I got an e-mail stating that my case had been discussed at a meeting of the gender service. They are making representation to my PCT for the funding be released for my GRS. This should not be a problem as the PCT recently wrote to me saying that they also thought I was ready for my gender surgery.
Once the funding has been officially declared as there, a meeting will be set up with my surgeon Mr Terry. If that goes well, i could the e-mail said, have my surgery by mid 2009.
I cannot beklieve it, what I need now is an examination to see if I need genital hair removal.
yippeeeee

I'll add my congratulations to you.
Chances are, if you have hair down there, and your surgeon performs the penile inversion technique, you'll need genital electrolysis or some other sort of removal. Reason being and you may already be aware, is that they may use some of the extra hair bearing tissue during the process. Techniques during the surgery to make this tissue hairless, don't always work that well, and hair will grow in some strange places... Voice of experience here.... I went for the electrolysis, had all the requested areas clear, and still seem to have some hair growing in strange places. Not much, but still it's annoying... The requirement of clearing the areas is the surgeons trying to be sensitive to these things...

Hi Priss,
I am trying to persuade my PCT to fund my genital hair removal as an essentiallity. My facial laser specialist does this for transwomen and she states it should begin 6 months before the op. I am also trying to get a meeting with a new psych, given mine has retired.
I do not have private funds to fund it myself, so it still looks very confusing as to exactly when that surgery will happen.

Steph, as far as the genital hair removal goes, I had one laser session and that did it for me...being in the position for it wasn't exactly my most graceful moment.
