has anyone ever got words of kindness when they are dressed? not some ones pity but real true words of kindness? or does the world just ignore you too? just wondering and hoping that some one will invoke a bit of inspiration in me...through their experience. (yikes i sound like an existentialist)

Yes, I have received many kind statements from people that I did not know while out dressed. Probably the most memorable have been from college students that have been in classes that I have made presentations to about crossdressing. Over the years I have had a number of them approach me when I was out shopping or going in a restaurant to say hello or to say how much they appreciated my coming to their class. This sometimes has occured more than a year after the student was in one of those classes.

The last few times I've gone out I have had people talk to me about dressing up and many have been quite encouraging. One fellow in a bar, with numerous facial piercings, told me that he felt better for meeting me because we were so similar. He went on to say that he thought we could understand each other well, because when we enter a room, everyone looks at us. It was a very curious conversation. His last words were "major props to you dude, you look hot and I love it that you have the courage to dress the way you want to".

Yes... for example one time this past year or so when I was in a hair & nail products store in the local mall (the TG-friendly place I bought my wigs), as a "guy in a skirt" (an above-the-knee denim shorts type skirt I think it was), an older female customer approached me and complimented me on my bravery and remarked something to the effect that I must be so much happier now. The actual way it happened was a bit weird, but I could see she was harmless and meant well, so I just accepted it in the spirit it was meant.

I have received various compliments about something I'm wearing, or been told that I look good by people who could easily have said nothing.

On the whole, I have received few negative remarks. Some, yes, and from time to time (not very often) snickers after I pass by, but the compliments are more frequent, and are said to my face, not behind my back.

You know I don't think I would go up to a Cder that I didn't know and say anything, unless they were wearing something I particularly admired (I'd do that anyway, whoever it was, and ask where they'd got it from). I wouldn't mean it as any form of insult, infact I'd wonder if I went up to a cder and said something if she'd take it that she hadn't passed as well as she thought she had, whereas going up to someone and saying 'oooo I like your coat/skirt/hat, where did you get that' is kinda neutral.

I compliment my SO when he's dressed, but I will also tell him if something doesn't work.

I dropped somethig when I was walking through a casino once and this gentleman ran me down to return it. He wasa bit suprised when he finally caught up with me but I took the gesture as a high compliment!

Ze, My wife is my best critic besides myself, I am never satisfied with how I look! Not long after we met she had me bring out all that I owned and she culled through everything that she knew was either out of style or just plain wouldn't work. My wardrobe is much nicer and more sophisticated now. She's a sweety and let me keep some of my minis and other not so age appropriate play things!!:D

One Sunday morning after church I went to an "Old Country Buffet" (a chain restaurant that is all you can eat style here in the US.) I obviously wasn't passing very well but didn't care. After I had breakfast, I left. As I was walking away, a young lady (maybe 16 or 17 years old) dressed in her OCB uniform can running out the door yelling at me. She ran up to me and gave ne a hug and said "Thank you for being yourself." I thanked her. She went back to work and I went to my car. Obviously I had mixed feelings. This confirmed that I hadn't passed (overrated) but much more importantly, here was someone who appreciated and accepted who I was. It still brings a warm spot to my heart and it helped me down my road to accepting myself.

I get neither positive or negative feedback when I'm out... Same as any other woman would expect.... and I'm lovin it!! I don't expect anyone to go out of their way to compliment me for being a good dresser for a guy or a cute crossdresser....

Same here :)

As for other cders yes I compliment them, but this is people who I know, I would not go up to a stranger and compliment them, as it could make them uncomfortable, I know if a stranger did this to me I would.

I went to a Clinique makeup counter at Macy's in Clackamas Mall last month in my knee-length black skirt, 3.5" heels, black stockings and dark purple turtleneck to buy foundation and the SA not only talked easily and comfortably with me, but also said 'you are not only brave, but lovely'.

Definitely made my day...:)

Helen2 and Amanda W, there is a wig shop near the Clackamas Mall that is very CD friendly. The shop is Pony Express Wigs. The first time I went there, I emailed first to make sure she was open to me coming in. I went the first time as a guy and she was very nice. The second time I went, I went dressed. The owner Laurie was very complimentary. She told me she was amazed by the tranformation and was surprised at how good I looked. Then she told me I looked like a woman. Laurie always calls me Stephanie when I go in and is wonderful to work with. PM me if you would like to go shopping sometime.

I've been out and 3 different times I received unsolicited compliments.

One time I was shopping (enfemme) in JC Penney's and I was wearing a skirt I bought at JC Penney a month earlier. A lady stopped me and said she was wondering how the skirt would look on her (she was holding one identical to mine) and told me it looked great on me.

About a week later I was in the parking lot of a CVS drug store and an older lady stopped me as I was walking to my car and complimented me while I was wearing the same skirt .

Then just last week, I was at a Belk department store looking at women's boots while in drab. As I tried on a pair, I mentioned to the sales lady (about 40 years old) that I guess it looks kind of funny that a guy is trying on women's boots. She said "we get that sometimes." and then a customer (who could have said nothing) told me she thought the boots looked good on me.

I have never had any bad experiences yet out and about. I'm just wondering when the bubble will burst.

I am as much male, as I am female, one cannot exist without the other, and thats how i usually dress. I am 6' 2" tall flat footed :confused2:, I went grocery shopping at the local Ralph's the other day entirely in male clothing except for the pair of black patent, 5 inch, metal heel stilettos, and my Liz Clairborne red leather purse. I had 3 ladies go out of there way to talk to me, a lady stocking selves said " Nice Shoes " honestly she did not sound sarcastic, the 2nd lady had her daughter in a stroller said " Beautiful Shoes ! where did you get them & what size are they? I said they are a ladies 15 and that I get most of my shoes from Ebay, and that these were only $25, she said she didn't know they made shoes that big, and would have to check it out. The 3rd lady, mid 60s, with who I assumed was her husband, asked if that was my wifes purse, I said no, she saw me admiring it, and gave it to me as a gift, at that point she turned and slapped her husband in the arm :slap: and marched off (still wondering why she slapped him)

I get alot of words of kindness when I am dressed, like welcome to womanhood, I admire your bravery, you look really nice, wow you really look good as a woman, Im jealous you have beautiful legs, its cool that you can be yourself and dress how you want, love your confidence, That is a few of the nice words of kindness I get from total strangers, and I have gained some close friendships since I have come out in public, I love the freedom to dress how I want, and the the kind words of encouragement that I get.

There is one I get often, and I am not sure if its a compliment or not.

The only heels I have are 5 inch heels, the comment I get is " You get around on heels better than I do ".

I take it as a compliment...!

Intertwined - definitely a compliment! I can't easily wear heels and am envious of anyone who can wear heels all day and not end up crippled in pain!

My SO walks better in heels than I do too! And he has less practice than me :heehee:

I have received compliments a few times when i was out as to how nice my outfit was. I am not sure wether or not the ladies realized i was Trans.

When i was in Florida this past Nov. went into a restaurant that i often go to when in the area. The lady on the Cash register, commented, I love your skirt

Made me feel so good

Yes, at several places I have gone I get "hey, you look great and it is wonderful that you go out dressed and are showing who you are". Of course it means that I look like a man in a dress, but what can you do?
