Out in Las Vegas, looking for help

Hi,

I will be taking a trip to Cali and will be staying in LV along the way. I really want to go out dressed. I will be staying at the MGM and wanted to know what you gurls thought about where i should go for an hour or two. Basically my wife and kid will be staying at the hotel while i go out dressed. I don't get allot of opportunities to do this in Utah.

Anyways, all im looking to do is walk around and go into a club or bar for a bit to see if i can handle it, heh.

Any suggestions as to where i should go and if i will be able to slip out of the MGM easily?

Hi Kali,

I don't think you'll any problems with Vegas as a whole. I've been there many times always in drab though, and have seen a few tg girls wandering around no one gives them a second look. You should make a point to go to the Riviera and take in La Cage. It's a great show. The other thing you could do is go shopping at shops in the one of the casino's on the strip. Just go have fun don't worry about everyone else. Just remember, " What goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas".

Kali, you should be able to go just about anywhere a lady would go. The picture in my avatar is in front of one of the Christmas trees at the MGM. If you want to explore a bit, the monorail has a station right there at the hotel and runs north all the way to the Sahara with stops at Ballys/Paris, Flamingo/Imperial Palace, Hilton, and a few others. These will put you within walking distance of all the major casinos on the strip (hint-wear comfortable shoes :D). If you go out in the evening, at Ballys they have a great band in the lounge off the main casino, wonderful for dancing. I hope you have a great time!

When will you be visiting? If you really want to go out en Femme I will be happy to help. Our Tri-Ess chapter goes out every Monday night for dinner and you are welcome to join us. If your wife wishes to come that's fine also. We meet once a month for our regular meeting in a hotel not far from the MGM. If you would like to come to a meeting that can be arranged also.

The MGM has a TG friendly policy. I am positive that you will have no problem from the staff. The rest depends on your comfort level when in femme and walking through the casino. It is a rather long walk from the rooms to the parking garage.

Go where ever you want - they have seen it all, and believe me, there is nothing you could possibly do short of pulling out a fire arm and shooting the place up that would shock them there. In fact, I'm not entirely sure you would get their attention with firearm! LOL

Unfortunately, I will be out of town next week. I would have loved to meet you and show you around. Vivian has an excellent suggestion. Go to the Glamour Boutique and see Amy. Amy often has outings on Saturday nights where she goes to dinner with several in the community. If she has something planned for that night I am certain that you are welcome to join them. If not she can advise you if something is going on. Tell her I suggested you go there and ask her.

We have had three or four places but all have closed in the past two years.
The best chance to meet others on a saturday night is Freezone. Freezone is a gay and lesbian bar that many go to. There have been several "bathroom " incidents there in which we were told to use the mens room. Because of this it is not 100% recomended.

It is always best to be with others and I hope that we will have something like that soon.

There's always Frank Marino's La Cage show at the Riviera (http://www.frankmarino.com/).

Plenty of TG gals have taken in the show and Frank loves to talk, give autographs and take pictures with audience members afterwards.

I went dressed with a few gals and he commented how we could stand to put on women's clothes, make up and heels voluntarily. He jokingly said it's a pain to get made up and can't wait to take off the tight gowns and fake boobs. :D

Paris also has a great GLBT policy and has advertised in the GLBT community. They were very welcoming to our group at the buffet during Diva Las Vegas, and lead us right pass the line up to our tables.

I don't know anything about the LV GB store, but I've been to the East Coast GB store several times and I love it. Very helpful, good advice and reasonable prices.

MGM Grand is where I stay in LV.Nice place I see no trouble going anywhere derssed in Vegas go for it.
I use to plan my trips around the annual machine gun shoot.

Of course I had a second chance and then it went OK. No big deal for a lot of girls here since they're out there all the time, but some of us these first times are really intimidating. Ok so I wanted to write and tell all of you gurls that have responded to my initial request for help on my visit to Vegas, how my actual trip went.

So just to give you some background, I have dressed since 7 or 8, but had not really begun to embrace it until I was married and turned 30 or so. I'm now 34 and Have been out of my house dressed maybe 8 times, but I would have to say that going out in my home town at late hours was fun at first but became incredible boring. So 2 years ago I went out on Halloween and was seen by a few in a bar and in a 24 hour lingerie shop. This was ok but again at 3 in the morning by my self It was basically unrewarding at best and non eventful to say the least.

So my next adventure was in San Francisco, where i stayed at at large fancy hotel near the airport. Gina you know that story about your key card not working? well mine had the same issue, it is used not only to get in and out of your hotel room but also to get your car out of the parking lot. My key was broken and I had to push a button and ask for assistance, fortunately they can open the gate remotely and the only issue there was a Low male voice and a women speaking it on the camera, haha anyways, that was fun, I drove into the city parked my car walked into Divas a TG/CD bar there and got picked up on by a few guys, then I got a little scared and left, while walking back to my car I was propositioned by a guy that had followed me out of the bar. It was a fun night and was still a much longer story.

And onto my next story, my most recent one in Vegas.

Now just so you gurls now what im going for. I love to dress, love how it feels, and how i look. I don't know what i want out of it, I'm not gay but do have some fantasy's that involve other CDs. Ive decided I would like to be passable enough to get to my planned location but Id rather that location be where other CDs and TG and people that could care less would be. I like being seen but don't really like being alone. Ive basically come to the conclusion that I need another CD friend that i can hang out with from time to time that knows my intentions and does not expect anything, but understands me.

Also my wife knows I dress and is passively excepting, would prob rather I don't and would prob rather i didn't tell her. She is cool about joking about it and likes when i dress from time to time and have crazy sex. However ive decided to keep it to my self for the most part and just do it when I can plan it out and the timing is right instead of all the time or on a whim like i used to.

Sorry for the run on sentences.

Ok so I went to Southern California for about a week and Id planned to dress on my way back, at a stop in Vegas Crap I have to go,, I will finish the story asap.

Ok so anyways, for months I had planned to dress in Vegas on my way back to Utah. My wife knew of my intentions and all was well or so I thought. I picked the MGM grand because it is near to a few bars that I looked up that were ether generally TG/CD friendly or generally ALL TG/CD haha. The one thing i didn't account for was the incredibly long ass walk to where you park your car. I knew this would be hard but I had my mind set, and once we checked in I thought I could handle it. I was wrong.

Ok I'm going to tell you right now, this is a anti-climactic story. So at around 7 my wife wanted to see the Bellagio fountain show, so we walked the 2 huge city blocks, saw the show, walked around a bit, but still didn't get back to the hotel until 10pm or so. This sucked because all I could think about the whole time was my night to come, and how this was eating into it. I don't know about you girls and if you keep your selfs maintained or not, but I find that I get the best results if I go from completely unshaven to shaven, when I shave allot I break out. This is all fine but it takes way longer to get ready, and I didn't have much of time.

What sucked about all of this is that we had just driven from San Diego and we were already tiered to begin with. My fantasy was slowly going down the pipes. I slammed some coffee and hoped for the best. So at about 10:30 I start the process, I quickly loose track of time, and before I know it, it's 1AM.
Sure by this time I am all shaven and have makeup on, but im totally wiped out. I say screw it and push on. I am almost ready, I lastly put on one of my wifes skirts grab my room key, TEST IT, and go out the door. Not more then 10 steps and i realize that this skirt does not like these thigh highs, It's bunching up all over the place really bad. I take a Uturn and change the skirt out. Now the good thing is I had another skirt the bad is its my favorite pin striped short mini skirt (way to much attention but I love it) as i slip it on the bottom button breaks off, at this point I sigh and well, almost give up. With out this button the skirt flares open and you can see my bare leg and the top of my thigh high. Meh I wasn't going to waste away months of anticipation for this. So i did what I could and headed out. Its so late by this time that I don't even know if any of the clubs I wanted to go to are even open, but im determined. I was on then 10nth floor, I got to the elevator and waited. Right then a huge bald guy walked by from behind, stops turns and faces me from like 7 feet away, I could not look him in the face but this area was huge and he turned just to look at me. I like to think im passable but at this distance psh I wasn't feeling it. The elevator opened up and there were a few people in it, the bald guy got in, arg I just lost my nerve and walked past the open door as if i was going to wait for another one. What did I do? Went back to my room broken and barely able to keep my eyes open, and very disappointed.

Basically ive been able to stave off the need to dress by telling my self "just wait its going to be perfect and everything you have dreamed about" then when that dosent happen I get kinda pissed.

My goal will be to finally make it to those bars, but I am going to stay in a hotel off the strip so I can drive. I will also improve my wardrobe and ability to pass, so that I am more confident when it comes to "regular people" seeing me close up.

I also think Id fare much better with another CD friend. But even that is something Im not sure about, but as you can see im pretty willing to do it.

but I know we've all been frustrated at some point. You were right, if you weren't sure about it, it's better to wait for a better ocasion. Don't worry, you'll get the chance to go out on a perfect night and then you'll just laugh of all this situation, trust me. Thanks for sharing your story.

Unfortunately, what happened to you is not unusual and I hope that it doesn't deter you from trying again. One of the most difficult things we can do is going it alone on our " virgin Excursion". It can be very frightening to go out for the first time by yourself especially is a huge hotel like the MGM. While the MGM does have a T friendly policy that does not mean that the other guests do. Your plan on going out with someone else next time is a good one.
The walk to the parking garage at the MGM is an extremely long one also and many of us use valet but that can be difficult also. I have several suggestions as to where you can stay next time you come in.

Your first real outing should be as easy as possible and result is a wonderful experiences.

If you're at the MGM and want to go anywhere on the Strip, I would suggest the monorail. There is a station at the MGM and the other end is at the Sahara. The Glamour Boutique may be within walkimg distance from the EOL. Also, the Strip is huge, and things are not as close as they seem. The Strip is an ideal environment for a scooter, and most of the hotels rent them (and the monorail is scooter-friendly - just stay off the escalators- LOL). I have ridden it in women's clothes on a scooter with no problems. If you are underdressed, use the men's restroom; if you are fully dressed, use the ladies room; if you are semi-dressed ? The handicapped stalls are usually big enough for a scooter, and using them is ideal if you are wearing clothes usually associated with the opposite sex.

Kali, When you get to Las Vegas, do your thing. I spent the last part of July beginning of August there (on family business). Went to the Tuscany Hotel for dinner and was received very well. Met up with some local CD at the Blue Ox. Was told that every day is Halloween in Vegas. Other than the heat, I had no trouble anywhere, walking around the strip. If the Glamour Boutique is within walking distance from the Sahara, it would be a short distance from the monorail eol at the Sahara. How many blocks is it? Is the GB scooter accessible (i.e. sidewalks, curb cuts, and no steps)? I know the Strip and the monorail are, and major hotels rent scooters. Fair warning: the Strip is huge, and things are not as close as they seem.

p.s. The Strip is an ideal environment for a scooter. Even if you don't need one, it saves a lot of steps, and it doesn't matter if the restroom of choice is not the nearest one. If you use a non-unisex restroom, use the handicapped stall so what you are wearing won't matter, and you can "fix" makeup and lipstick in private. All attractions and restaurants we visited were scooter-friendly, and a scooter usually goes to the head of the line if there is one.

I've been out in Vegas more than any other place on the planet and love it. From The Strip to the strip mall, and from bars and casinos to shops and thrift stores I've never had a bad experience. I've been uncomfortable a couple of times, but only once was based on someone elses behavior as it related to my dressing.
There are a few hotels that have either "Garden Rooms" more of a motel environment; Palace Station, Hooters, Tuscany and Terribles all come to mind. These let you avoid the elevators and the mandatory perp walk through the casino to get to your car.
I believe that if you behave well, and dress appropriately and you shouldn't have a problem. By dressing appropriately I mean if you dress for Clubs, stay in the clubs, don't go to the neighborhood drug store if you can avoid it. I can't wait to return.

I live in Las Vegas and go everywhere. I use the lady's room whenever and wherever.... Kinda odd seeing a woman in the men's room. LOL. if you are uncomfortable, go in do your business and leave. quick as a bunny.
