Hello all of you, I am new to this forum and have been looking at it for some time. I am a closet CD and I consider myself mostly straight. This is my first post. So here is what I have been wondering about all of you --
What's your dress size, height, weight, and age? State if it's US or European size, and try to give height and weight in inches and lbs.
For me, I'm 36, 5' 3.5" tall, 146.2 lbs -- and my best fitting dress size is a size 8. But I do have a Petite Sophisticate size 2 jacket / size 4 skirt suit that I fit, and I have a Kasper ASL size 4 pants suit that I fit ok too. I only got these small size clothes because they were great suits that cost $7 at a Goodwill thrift store. I can fit size 6 suits but they are tight. I can fit size 6 dresses ok.
I once was a size 16 at 205 lbs. Well, I did a lot of biking to lose weight and I didn't diet - so here are my dress sizes at different weights -
195+ size 16
185+ size 14
175+ size 12
162+ size 10
152+ size 8
145+ size 2,4, 6 ? tight fit

I'm 52,5'9,153 lbs. I wear an 11 skirt and pants, a 14 dress because I kinda got broad shoulders. I went on a diet a few months ago to lose a middle age spread and have lost 37 lbs. so far.

5' 10" 180 pounds (have lost 25 pounds since I started crossdressing in search of a femmy figure...still a bit big but I'm getting there. On a diet and go to the gym daily)
I am probably a size 16. But I have dresses/skirts from 12 to 18 that fit me. Obviously the clothing retailers play games with sizes for that range of sizes to fit me...and for others to not fit that should!

(Jesse, I was tickled at the thought of "mostly straight" :p )
Anyway, I'm 60, 5'10", 140 lbs and 36-31-36 (need to do something with that waist). I take a 14 or 16 top/blouse/dress (uk) depending on the make, 12 or 14 skirts/pants, 38B bra (anything more than a B looks ridiculous on me) and uk size 8 shoes (42 in the new euro).
I'm still too broad in the shoulders and chest, my arms have too much muscle and I have too much tummy, but I'm working on all those.
Right, I'm off to eBay now to look for some jeans - bye
Jesse69

I'm really happy to be a size 8. Like most of the beautiful suits and dresses on ebay are size 6 to 12 - and I comfortably fit within that range. Also, when I go to Petite Sophisticate / Casual Corner and I buy a size 8 to 10 suit or dress or skirt -- they think I'm buying it for a girlfriend or wife.
I wonder what is the most common size for most women, especially one that is 5' 4"

No I dea what dress size I am, ranges from 18 to 24 (uk sizes) usually I seem to remember.
I'm about 17 and a half stone right now (245 Lbs ?), so pretty big, thankfully it's build mostly now, not body fat (I'm working on it). Height, Six Ft three inches (just). Shoes... an expensive 11 (uk mens). I'm 35 Yrs old.

I have gotten rid of some of my middle age spread, but if I could get back down to a 34 or 32 waist (36 at the moment), I could then wear size 12 dresses and skirts. At one in my life, I could wear size 10 dresses, but that was a long long time ago.

Well, I just stopped by the library today and borrowed the book - Dieting for Dummies. Just to read - I really don't need to diet. I eat just the regular amount of food of anything that would just maintain my weight without gain or loss -- so I never starve myself and lower my metabolism. I burned off all of my 60 lbs of fat just by biking. Biked 2080 miles last year and 1530 miles this year. Started biking July 2003 till now to lose weight. Bike now to maintain my weight from overeating.
Anyway, the book I borrowed stated that the average woman is 5' 4" 138 lbs dress size 12. Measurements 37 - 29 - 40 Body Fat 32% The book also saoid that Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14 dress ! Does anyone know Marilyn Monroe's height and weight ?
The book also said that women models are typically size 6, 120 lbs, 5'8" to 5'11", 34-25-34
Me - I'm 34 - 31 - 34, and I would never take womens hormones to change that. I'm really happy with my dress size now that I know I'm better than the average woman my height! I think I look good when looking in the mirror but when I take a picture of myself and look at it -- I feel that I don't look good in pictures.

I'm 45 years young, and am 5'9", 165 lbs. But I luckilly do not have a broad shoulderd frame. I was very athletic in my younger years, so I like to cover my upper arms, but they're not that bad, probably mostly in my head. This time of year, I do wear short sleeves or sleeveless.
I'm a size 10-12 or large in most everything, except skirts, which can go a size smaller. That's because guys have no hips!
I recently bought the increasingly popular Ablounge which gives a great abdominal workout. And I am riding my bike more and more. Gonna get rid of this little belly somehow!
Hugs,
Melissa :)

I'm a fairly small person for a guy which obviously helps me as a cder.
I'm 5ft 4inches, 128lb (58kg or 9 stone) I have women's US size 8.5 shoes (UK size 6) My dress size is a US women's size 8 petite (UK size 10) and my bra size is 36A.
I used to workout with weights a lot in the past but I only do CV work now. My physique still has a muscular tone to it but thankfully no bulk.

Wow Gina - it would be nice to see a pic of you in your best dress or suit outfit! A really slim figure flattering one. Did you see how slim and tall Nicole Kidman was in the movie - The Stepford Wives ? She was really great!
I don't know if I'd ever post a pic of myself in this forum - I just don't want to be known in public as a cd'r but people do already known. The grapevine has really been harsh to me. I guess I would show off me in my size 2/4 Petite Sophisticate suit - my smallest size outfit!

I am slim, but I want more of a woman type body. You know, hips and a butt. I am too straight up and down. No shape. It really depresses me something.
Sorry to say, but I never saw Nicole Kidman in the movie "The Stepford Wives" I will have to rent it soon. You sound awesome. A 2/4? I am jealous. I need to diet! I wish I was a model!!! Maybe in my next life...I hope!!!

Gina, I guess I really am a size 8. That is the dress size I can safely buy anywhere without trying the clothes on. I can fit size 6's but these clothes are tight. My size 2/4 suit must be an exception - it must be a little large for that size. What can you expect when I'm 146.2 lbs at 5' 3.5" ? I'm 34 - 31- 34, but I can buy clothes as small as 37" bust (to fit my breastforms) and squeeze a 26.5" waist skirt.
Nicole Kidman is really what you'd like to be in the movie the Stepford Wives. The early part of the movie really shows her slim and tall.
I get I'll still workout to lose weight to go to 139 or 140 lbs.

Well, at 147.2 lbs on my scale right now I'm 12.5% body fat. Going to 8% to 10% body fat is all I care to do. Being this low weight has made me a fast road biker, and I like nice expensive road bikes too. I have 11 bikes right now, and I'm getting a 12th one soon. 3 road bikes, 6 bmx bikes, and 2 mountain bikes. I know for my height that men can go as low as 117 lbs. But they would be skinny toothpicks. There are professional road bikers at 5' 4" and 120 lbs.
Yes, I am a new member.
Well, Gina - here it goes - a pic of me in my size 2 / 4 Petite Sophisticate suit. A great bargain at $7 from a Goodwill store. Sorry I can't show you a frontal pic I want to stay "in the closet." But I do enjoy seeing the full frontal pics of other crossdressors. The problem is that I have employment problems when people know I crossdress. And I have been fired from a job because they knew I was a crossdressor. I never crossdressed on the job or did anything bad.
If you want to stay anonymous just post a pic like I did ! I'd like to see your pic. Even a full backside will do.
I guess from my pic that I don't have a woman's slim straight form leg. It's also funny that I can fit smaller dresses than my mom even though I'm heavier than her.

Gina, you look so hot in that black dress. Are those real breast? Wouldn't they be a problem when you go around in guy mode? Or are you 24/7 as a woman?
Here's my favorite backside picture of me in my favorite junior dress. I weighed 162.8 lbs in this picture. I have this dress in size 9-10 and 13-14 by All That Jazz. I'm so dissapointed in my short hair wig that's pictured because it's not long enough in the back.
Isn't it terrible that I don't have a single womens shoe? But I never go out in public in drag.

Makes me think that me at 5'4" should go down to 128 lbs. But by doing that I would lose lean mass, muscle, and have a low body fat! Can't do! I guess I'll go to 139 lbs this year by more biking and no dieting.

Well, mand, you still have a face to die for!
Things you can do while waiting for the diet to show results:
Wear long, flowing things. Cloaks and capes are good.
Get an industrial-strength waist cincher. I did! Sort of like a corset but it only extends from just under your ribs to just over the top of your hips. If you have the funds, getting a custom-made one is vastly better than something off the rack.

LOL:rotflmao:Not very often, mostly in those brands that tend to run their sizes smaller so the customer feels better about buying them:rolleyes:.I would love to have a more shapely body like some of the girls here. Hey Girls!
Very interesting thread. But I'm still a newbie and could use any help/advice on sizing anyone could give me. I hate making returns! Between the few things I've bought and the things I have "borrowed" from my wife, I seem to be anywhere from a (USA)12-20 in most things and a 12-14 in shoes. Help me stop the madness!
So here are my stats:
Age: 43 (chronologically) physiologically WAY younger I hope
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 190lbs.
Chest: 43"
Waist: 36"
Hips: dunno
inseam:34"
sleeve: 35/36" And no, just b/c my sleeve is longer than my inseam does NOT mean I'm a "knuckle-dragger!" Thank you very much. I'm built like a swimmer. The only large thing I have that seems to fit well anywhere that I like is my smile.
So Tristen, girls, any advice? Pleeeeeze??

Thanks Tristen, I've perused your wonderful links since I joined, but there is such a plethora of information I must not have spotted these sites. It still seems murky, though. One of the sizing charts said exactly what I saw at an online store. I've ordered two nearly identical skirts, both in 20 from the same company and while one fit great, the other was HUGE! (Couldn't spot any defects or mislabelling) Reading other people's threads, how can people of apparently different weights and heights be wearing the same size clothes?? Can somebody 'splain it to me?

I wouldn't worry about it, there's different sizing all over the world in every country, plus the fact that sizes vary between manufacturers. All in all stick to you and what fits on your body. Although why you could get two of the same thing and have one not fit is beyond me. I'd assume a mismarked item
Remember to always check the shop you are buying from for their size charts ;)

There are 4 additional sizing factors added to US womens clothing,"Junior", "Petite", "Misses", and "Womens", then various combinations of them. These factors will cause the same "number" size dress to fit vastly different. Also there is probly a bit marketing chicanery going on.
Misses dress sizing is the middle of the road, once you break above 16-18 you start getting into "Womens" which is fit a lot looser then a Misses. Also manufacturers have been slowly reducing the "number" on the same size dress over the past 20 years. I have beautiful "vintage" dresses made in the 70's and early 80's that fit me and are size 12 Miss, which today is a size 8.
Hope this helps a little, if you want to know more, PM me.

You're incredibly light for your height - like a real woman! How did you get that light? Do you workout a lot? Or is it just dieting / you don't eat much or is it genetics?
For me, at 5'3.5" 146lbs 14 - 15 % body fat - I think I can go to 138 lbs. Might take me 2 months of biking to do that. Then maybe I'll be a guaranteed size 6. I already have several size 6 dresses and suits that I wear.

Size 8 skirt in misses. Size 10 dress (because of my shoulders). Size 8 1/2 womens shoe, but I can get into a size 8. Bra is 36c - think I'll try a b cup next though. Medium or large blouse, depending on the blouse. I'm 5' 7"..about 135 lbs.

I want to claw the eyes out of every one of you who can wear a size 10 or smaller. :(
These factors will cause the same "number" size dress to fit vastly different. Also there is probly a bit marketing chicanery going on.
I've heard that some upscale brands deliberately understate the size to make the customer feel better about herself.
I *know* that clothes made in Asia are usually smaller than the stated size (this goes for boy clothes, too). I don't know whether this is to save on material or because the people making them tend to be of smaller stature than most Americans.
I think the biggest fit problem that we Tgirls have in dresses is that our shoulders are much bigger in proportion to our other measurements than most GGs' are. Having a dry cleaner who does alterations is a must for those of us who can't sew. :o
Then, of course, you have S-M-L-XL-X1-X2-X3, which is a complete free for all. :thumbsdn: I almost never buy anything that's not returnable.
Let's hear it for waistbands with elastic! :D

Gee Katie Lynn - thanks for posting your stats. You are incredible! Tall, light, and small dress sizes! But a lot of people are that good when they're 21. If you don't watch what you eat and pig out a lot you might be fat by age 31. That's what happened to me! I thought I could eat whatever I wanted however much I wanted and not get fat. I didn't realise I was fat until I reached 205 lbs at age 32?
I guess for you you wouldn't want to gain fat because you then wouldn't be able to fit into your clothes collection. Right now I'm 142 lbs size 6 and I don't want to gain weight because I have a good collection of clothes size 4, 6, & 8!
