I'll be taking a week long business trip next week and I need advice on how to pack a few things. This is the first time I will take Ellen on the road, and after reading Kimberly's posts I have to give it a try. Someday I hope to join the flying club, but for now I just need to get my things to to the east coast.
First, how to pack my wig. I was thinking I would fold the cap section inside out and place it in a zip-lock bag. Upon arrival I would stuff the cap gently with a hand towel and hang it somewhere.
Second problem is forms. I have always kept them in the original box when not being worn. But that is not practical for this trip. Should I try to get foam forms for travel, or just go with the padded bra (which I have gone out with before and is my fall back position). Can I just put my forms in a suitcase carefully and be OK? Or should I bring another bag with me packed with my Ellen things.
How do you other girls do it?
Thanks!

I think I would opt for the second bag, and pack your forms as you usually do. One of mine is ruined because it got crushed in my AWOL bag. Have fun on your trip.

I would pack two suitcases - a large one for your fem self and a small one for your male self - a girl can never have enough clothing

I pack my wig in a ziplock bag and then slip the bag in the mesh that is the top of my luggage. I'm just trying to keep it rather flat without having it pressed between hard items.
My forms I put inside a bra that I have which has pouces for the girls. Then I just pack the bra in the suitcase in between other clothes.
I've never had a problem. Enjoy your week!!

Are you handling your luggage or does it get to be trusted to those baggage handlers ?
My forms get wrapped in a towel, while the wig just gets settled in amongst the clothes. The forms are protected and do not change their shape, while the wig gets that "just got out of bed" look.
A bag for Ellen would be fun, providing you can handle the lot.

I turn my shorter wigs inside out and put them in a zip lock bag leaving some air in the bag to cushion it.. My longer wigs I don't turn inside out.. Breast forms I place in a couple pair of old socks, then in a zip lock bag..
Watch out for the weight limits!!! I've had to repack/rebalance my bags right there in front of all the people in line because I'm not paying $150!!! And 95% of my clothing on a trip is female... Show time!! Lol

I have never flown with very many fem things other than some panties and a nighty or two. It sounds like you have been given some good advice so far so you should be allright.

I've packed my breastforms in a tupperwear container to keep them from being crushed.

I like the tupperware idea. In the past I've used the boxes that they came in, but that eats up a lot suitcase space.
For my wig, I use the hairnet that it came in. When we took our last trip this past fall we got a new luggage set that came with a small "utlitlity" shanvig kit bag that is the perfec size for my wid in its hairnet.
Think about getting the most out of the clothes that you take. 2 skirts and 2 tops can take up as much space a 2 dresses, but you can mix and match to have 4 outfits. And don't forget to leave enough room in your bags for all that you are going to buy while you're there.
Have fun.

I haven't done this as I have long hair, but in combining ideas it would seem you could put your wig in tupperware and place that in your carry-on bag. I would think frequent travel would cause you to have your wig re-done often if you don't protect it and suitcases aren't protection for anything. The only possible issue would be if you travel with co-workers and get your bag searched.

Just pack as if you would pack your men clothes. As for the breast forms if they are not too big why not wear them on board? I never worry and ussually go en femme now on my trips unless I will be going with my kids.

I have travelled internationally 3 times this year on 10 hour plus flights, including plane changes (more baggage handling) and packed Allie carefully in my suitcases for those extended stays. My wigs are kept in small plastic shopping bags. I carefully put them in with my hand supporting the inside of the wig. Once in the bag, I lift the bag up by the handle loops and gently shake the bag to get the wig to settle in the bottom of the bag. I then lay the bag on my bed and carefully roll it up. I then put the rolled up bag in the little pouches at the top or bottom of my suitcase. I have had no problems so far and my wigs look great with just a little bit of static electricity frizz sometimes. I actually store my wigs that way too and have no problems except for that frizz.
I have not traveled with my forms. I just take along some large sized balloons and fill them up with warm water (the first time) when I get there and generally get a pretty good look from them. I actually learned how to get some good cleavage using those balloons that I am not able to obtain from my forms. Skirts, and tops are laid flat, and covered with my "normal" clothes. I only take flats on trips and those go in my socks to hide them and prevent unwanted scuff marks. I keep my femme stuff in my suitcase for discretion and keep the suitcase locked. Only occassionally will I send out a dry clean only item with my regular wash.
I do not go out, except on my hotel's balconies and spend my time in my room with a nice glasss of wine. It is a lot of fun and much better than watching tv in drab! Good luck and definitely enjoy your trip.
