Just wondered. Hope you dont mind me asking.

Thanks

The womens toilet. It is the only choice. I have had no issues

If I had a nickel, (that's 5p for our UK sisters). For everytime that this question has been raised. I'd have enough money to buy a new pair of heels.

But to answer the question I use the restroom of the gender I'm presenting.

Your only other choice, besides finding a gender neutral restroom (rare) is to prance into the guys room in high heels and pantyhose...or whatever you're wearing.

 Hmmm.....that ought to go over well.

I had lunch with 3 very lovely ladies from here the other day. I haven't gone out as Cassia-Marie yet and they were giving me TONS of great advice.

When it comes to the restrooms, their advice was to go to the one appropriate to how you're presenting.

Most women won't mind at all if you're "made" because women's bathrooms are evidently very private in that there are stalls to do your business. If you're respectful, get in, get out, and not leer at them or do anything inappropriate, it'll all be fine.

But! Be careful if there are children present. That's where any sense of humor or tolerance about it may fly right out the window. As a parent, I can tell you that I'd feel a little uncomfortable with my little girl in a women's bathroom with another man in there with her. If you can avoid it, I'd stay away from those situations. Sometimes nature calls and there's nothing you can do. But if you can, play it safe and wait until the coast is clear.

I have only done this a couple of times, but I have always used the ladies room when out. I think the key is to just be yourself, be natural, and don't go looking for trouble. Just pop into the ladies room, do what you nned to and pop back out. Do not hang out there or show nervousness when you enter.

The Ladies room of course, but I never linger past my business. I don't want to offend anybody and I certainly don't want to get busted even though I would be presenting myself as a woman.

The ladies room of course - when dressed as a lady where else would I go?

If you can find a unisex one or a single-seater that's best, but I've never had any problems in the regular ladies' room. Just use a little discretion, like everyone else has said. Don't linger, avoid situations with kids around, sit down when you're doing your business.

...sit down when you're doing your business.

YES! I completely forgot that one! The ladies I had lunch with the other day mentioned that as well. If anyone happens to glance at the bottoms of the stalls and sees feet pointing the wrong direction... BUSTED!

When I am crossdressed I try to find a family restroom when nature calls, if I cannot find a unisex restroom then I will use the womens restroom as last resort, I go to restrooms in low traffic areas, and I do my business sitting down, then I wait til the restroom is empty before I leave the stall then I wash my hands and if a woman walks in while I am washing my hands I do not look up at her I just finish what I am doing and leave imediately, have not had any problems so far. I would never use the mens room while crossdressed. that is asking for trouble.

I don't venture out dressed but the last time I used a public toilet in a bar Halloween night I realized some people are really sick inconsiderate SOBs:eek:

I have to wonder, do they do that at home? WTF!

If I did go out dressed, I'd actually be stumped on which restroom to use, either choice could present trouble.

I use the womans and if available a "family" restroom. I have been out 100's of times and I have never had any problem, I am also certain that I might have a problem the next time, but I'll deal with that when it happens. I agree, wash your hands, you would be amazed at how many woman I have encountered that don't and the mess they make of the restroom. I won't be the one to get talked about for un womanly charecteristics. Also how any one can stand and pee when they are presenting as a woman really baffles me.

I've never been in a situation where I needed to use the public toilet while dressed. I rarely use them anyway, as I really do not like them at all.
In the situation where I'd have to choose, a gender neutral one would be the first choice. After that the ladies, if the nature calls hard enough and I will not be going home/somewhere where I could silence the nature without risks. The absolutely last choice would be the guys toilet, though I think twice going in to those when I'm dressed more or less like a guy...

Most often you'll be fine with the advice above, use the ladies. Do try and access where you are and how they might react, in some places it is illegal for you to use the women's restroom. For example, I am in Iowa, here it is illegal. Unless you are a post op TS. That said, in most places here I use the ladies. But the places where I am dressed are generally TG friendly ... so no issue. USE you head and eyes to figure out whether you can or not.

I agree about the kids thing, especially if you are in a Mall or the like.

also, try a tag search or the like and you would find a few hundred answers to this question....

Before I went to Vegas last year I did some research about where to go and such. I had assumed that Vegas would be very open to us but was I wrong. It is illegal in Vegas at least for a male to use a female restroom. Of course it is also frowned on to enter a casino disguised (read dressed). What I thought would be a fun outing turned out to be a BIG bore.
Here I go to the women's room when needed :)

There's a lot of stuff about children and/or men leering in the woman's bathroom. Does everyone have the same concerns when a lesbian is in the woman's bathroom and they could be leering? Should a lesbian just hurry up and do her business and not linger? How am I different than a lesbian? (And no I'm not talking about the obvious physical differences, I mean intent.)

The two sex bathrooms are very arbitrary in my view. Like anything in life, if you behave yourself and are kind, there should be no problems using the women's bathroom.

As several ladies have said, use the one for the gender you are presenting. Going out as two girls with my wife, I naturally used the ladies restroom. Since I always sit to go anyway, never had a problem there. Now that my iwfe has passed on, I use the men's room even though I frequently am dressed in feminine clothing. But, I am a man in feminine clothing! No wig and no makeup! Never have had a problem!!

If dressed only woman's restroom. But never linger in toilets, not men or women. I check my make up during washing the hands like other women do, then I leave. I never had any problem. For sure, be carefull with children.

I had a nice lady in my boat last fall and when I offered hydration she declined and we agreed that it is awkward for ladies in that situation. She sipped a single DP all day and only went when we went in to shore. Great self discipline. She was Army and knew how to deal with that kind of thing.

I use the womans of coruse. I just don't walk in and then rush out, that can make you look like you have something to feel gulty about. I go in there to ether to go pee (most women won't go number 2 in public stalls) then wash my hands , Oh make sure your pee hits the water not the side , I have found the most of the time it hits the wate, then I touch up my makeup. I don't have problems doing that. And no women Has ever said boo. SO when you use the ladys room don't rush , just respect the other ladys , don't do anything dumb or disrespectfull. Just act like it the most normal thing you do. With kids in there just be lady like and you should be ok. They don't know if your a gg or a cd or a TS , or just a ugly woman.lol . I would rather look like a ulgy woman then look like a man in a dress. LOL. so have fun out dressed and just use your common sence in the Ladys room. Oh don't ever use the mens room , you just might find out what a tenderized stake feels like, or worse. SO be safe out there ladys. HUGGS :hugs: :canada:

Please click this link (http://geekbabe.com/dlv/rroom.html) for a discussion of the restroom laws in Las Vegas and Nevada in general. This link also has several thoughts and suggestions for having a successful experience anywhere. As for you conclusion that it is frowned upon to enter a casino dressed, I have no idea where that thought would come from. I have been in literally every major hotel casion in the city and have never had a single negative experience. In fact, several casions have issued players cards to me in my femme name.

I would never even contemplate going to the men's room dressed en femme! I always use the ladies restroom but I never hang around in there any longer than is absolutely necessary. I do what I went in there to do, wash my hands and leave. Applying makeup, brushing my hair etc .... no, not in a public restroom I don't ... unless I'm with my wife then I seem to have more confidence. :2c:

I use the men's bathroom.

There's nothing sweeter than doing my business in the urinal in heels and a short skirt. It really freaks out guys entering the bathroom. lol

Obviously, I'm joking. I've never been out as Gabrielle, and when the time comes, I would never do anything like that. Not unless it was a place filled with cders and would not be a problem.

This is one question I won't face for some time. If I went out today and had to go, I'd probably just try to hold it or have my wife accompany me to the ladies room and hope for the best. I believe that can get you arrested around here (being a male, regardless of attire, and going in to the women's room).

Then, use womens toilets. At least in the women's we are dressed for the occasion. I don't expect the men would be too happy at all for us to be in theirs, no matter if we sat down, stood up, or what. Personally, I am very calculating when going to the restroom, trying to time it just right, if possible. When i was out at the theater one night, I waited a few moments extra after intermission, then went. So sweet, no one in there!!!!

Ok girls, here is the worst case scenario. Ok - maybe not the worst case scenario, but plenty squirrelly.

Many many years ago I was on vacation with my family in Atlanta Georgia, and we found ourselves in a mall. I'm not sure why any more. Anyway, I was alone (in teenage boy clothes), and I needed to pee. I went to the restroom. The public restrooms were one of these affairs that are down a long hallway that then branches out, men’s on the left, lady’s on the right.

Well I was being absent minded, and walked down the hallway and into the ladies room. The place was empty, and I was looking for a urinal, so when I just saw stalls I walked to the other end of the stalls to find the urinal (still thinking I was in the men’s room). When I didn't find a urinal, the light went on. Unfortunately for me, the instant the light went on, the door to the ladies room opened again. In an attempt to hide, I ducked into the closest stall and sat, figuring any lady walking past would at least see my sneakers pointing the right way. The woman who came in took a stall one away from the one I was in. Then another woman came in. She took the stall next to mine. (it was a 3 stall affair) The first one left, and a pair came in. The first obviously took the available stall - the second patrolled the front of the stalls, and then started peering in at me through the gap in the door! As unfathomably rude as it was, (imagine if I had been a girl doing her business) she made eye contact with me, looked me over, then bolted for the door without saying anything. Well, I knew the gig was up, and thankfully the place cleared out, and shortly thereafter, so did I.

When I got back out among the general population and my heartbeat started to return to normal, I spotted the woman I had seen peering at me in the stall door who was talking with a rent-a-cop who was radioing (I assume for backup). But while I recognized her, she did not recognize me.

Then of course - I still had to pee.

Here is the moral of the story:

When you are out dressed, you are much less likely to be made by an angry woman than a teen-aged boy is... and even if you are made, chances are fair she won't be able to recognize you from the glimpse she got through the crack in the door, and failing that - there is plenty of get-away time. Though admittedly, get-a-way time is low on the list of things I want to be in need of.

If you're respectful, get in, get out, and not leer at them or do anything inappropriate, it'll all be fine.

I just had this hilarious image of going out dressed and going into the women's room when GGs are in there too. You pass without incident, do your thing in the stall and come out to wash your hands, notice the cute lady next to you and boom out "Hiya sweet thing, I'm Ralph. Want to come over to my place and look at my pantyhose collection?"

I have always used the ladies room when presenting femme. Never had an issue with it, either. I usually look for a restroom that's not very busy. As everyone else has mentioned, don't do things to bring attention to yourself. I'll do what I need to, then leave.

I have never used a family rest room, but it's an option if you are nervous. Or go someplace that as single-stall bathrooms where you have to lock the exterior door. Starbucks for instance have rest rooms like this.

Good topic. I try to use the universal restrooms. The ones for handycapped & has the baby changing station. I look at it this way. If I go to the ladies room & get caught...I would get arrested. If I use the mens room I could get in trouble for trying to pick up guys or whatever they would dream up that I was trying to do. So I look for the uni rr or just go outside somewhere.

A side note here...when I am at the clubs,I always use the ladies rr. I make sure it's okay with the bar staff first. Never had an issue yet. It's odd because most of the women at the alternative bars are straight women. Most smile & say hi or we exchange small talk.:)

I always use the ladies. If out in public I sit like a lady. If I'm in a gay pub or bar it depends on how desperate I am whether I sit or stand; but I always use the ladies even there.

There was one occasion, at Pride last year, when the queue for the ladies in my gay pub meandered to the door out of the pub. Must have been about 20 long. So I swallowed my pride and used the mens. Sometimes its good to have a choice!

I wasn't the only girl though. The next day there was a sign saying only men should use the toilet. There then followed a furious debate (in jest) as to whether I should be allowed to use it or not.

When out, I have resorted to finding a smaller boutique or salon that generally dosen't have a public restroom. Act like you are interested in making some purchases, then ask to use the employees private restroom. I have never been turned down. They don't want to reject or offend a potential customer. Be sure to thank them on your way out. -Erica

Definitely a questioned ive worried about. I guess the fear of being called out and ridiculed. Or worse the police called. Im assuming that it is illegal in most states for men to use the womens restrooms. I know many have done it here with no problem, but always worry about the first. There have been a lot of posts about this. When I'm dress en femme, I use the women's room and follow very basic rules:

1. Go in and do my business;
2. Do all shifting and adjusting of my clothes inside the closed stall
that I am using;
3. Pick up my things and wash my hands and leave.
4. I avoid conversations or anything else that would delay me, but
I also don't rush as if I'm "in the wrong place."

I have never had any trouble, but I'm also quite careful to minimize the number of times that I would have to use public restrooms.

Yes unless your disabled you should leave it for someone how can't use the other ones. How would you feel if you need to pee or the other and some one whom could use the ladies room was in there and you could not get in the other bathroom. I think it's very rude like parking in a handy cap parking spot

Just think of it this way if you get arrested you will be doing it as a lady and the police will treat you as such. You may have to be in the men's side of the cell but that fine to. It would be am interesting experience that's for sure.

When I was out just wearing my booties I was so tempted (or was that confused) to use the girls room.. truth is I don't get why there is a mens room and womens room.. I used to do maintenance and women would come in while I was in the womens room and not even think twice to ask me to leave or wait for me to leave they would just do their business and leave without even a second thought..

Guess I'm in the minority here. I would never set foot in the women's rest room. I am genetically a male and I believe that's what they're referring too when they separate the rest rooms, not the clothes that I'm wearing. I am a man and I will only use the men's room or a unisex rest room.

I admit I've never ventured out crossdressed, but if I ever did I would hold it in if I couldn't find a unisex room. If an establishment separates the rest rooms I will comply.

It occurs to me that there are a number of very different scenarios being mentioned here...

In a drag or gay or TG club, it's a good bet that an MtF could use either and nobody would care and there would be absolutely no chance of recrimination...

In a mostly straight club, especially late, I'd think there would be no problem in using the ladies room...(I've done that and had great conversations with young women there...)

In any other place, the mall or a family style restaurant, that's where the confusion or possible trouble can arise. I'm thinking that if you think that you're not perfectly passable or that the staff can read you but still treat you with respect, that the best thing to do would be to look for a staff member of rank (maitre d' or manager or even a security guard) and ask, " Do you mind if I use the ladies room?" My guess is that they would usually say yes. And in that case, you use it with permission!

If permission is denied, and the need was desperate, I think I might ask that employee, then, to escort me to one that I could use safely. You might be escorted to the men's and be chaperoned (to avoid any untoward attacks on you) or you might be escorted to an employees restroom. In that way you show respect for the establishment and make it plain that your intentions are not criminal or underhanded. Who's gonna refuse a customer's use of a bathroom? That's a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen...

Another good option would to be to use the ladies room in company with a woman friend. That will always make you more passable and less noticed, since it's a very normal thing for women to retreat to the ladies room in groups, eh? And while she's 'watching your back', she's also providing another layer of camouflage.

(Geez! who knew going to the bathroom could be such a philosophically complicated subject?)

You should always use the restroom for the gender you are presenting yourself as. I would never attempt to use the men's restroom while dressed. That would be suicidal where I am from.
