How do I find a kink-friendly gender therapist? I am in the BDSM lifestyle.

Get out the Yellow Pages and start calling around. Tell them what you're looking for, and remember that you're doing the interviewing, not them.

Yep. And remember most states have a therapist-client confidentiality law so while you can likely see one from your own church congregation if you wanted to, you can't readily get references.
And don't forget to shop rates and ask for price breaks if you have no insurance.
Oh, and "specialists." Not sure that BDSM has special issues. When looking to change counsellors once I ran into one in my town who splashed his cross-gender specialist credentials all over his add and website, and when I called he quoted rates 2-3x everyone else. I don't see why our issues are worth the extra money - I mean is a bi-polar disorder or agoraphobic condition any easier? And shouldn't specialists be more efficient due to experience so they can get as much done in a shorter session, and have a reputation that keeps their appoinment schedule full so they are able to see more clients in less time, and thus charge less?
Have fun shopping.
