Is there a bit of tranny in every man?

I sometimes wonder if there is a transistor in every man's brain mostly inactive that includes a little bit of tranny in every man. Most would not admit it even to themselves. Most would not get the chance to activate this due to family, friends or the power to resist it. Perhaps the more masculine they are the more they are putting up a resistance. It's amazing the amount of men when given the chance slip into a pair of high heels be it parties, pantomine, tv or film etc. I realise that tv entertainers, tv and film actors get paid enormous amounts of money to put the tights on but when you think back the number of actors, celebrities happy to do this that you could never imagine doing it.

I know we are a bit biased as we love putting the bra on but imagine getting well paid for crossdressing.

Sorry Maria but I think that is wishful thinking of a cross dresser. In these examples, the men are not enjoying being feminine, they are just wearing an item of clothing. Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar, as Freud is often quoted as saying.

We would all like to think there is a little CD in every man but I think this is just wishful thinking.

For 50 years it never occurred to me to try on women's things. Altho, I had many opportunities with girl friend's and wife's clothes handy. Once, I even went to a Halloween party all dolled and tarted up by the wife. It made such an impression on me I promptly forgot about that experience for 15 years!

The reason WHY most men wouldn't be interested is this. They would look in the mirror and see a man in a dress/stockings/undies, etc. Since most r straight, that's NOT an appealing image!

I dealt with this unappealing image for over a year after beginning dressing before I figured out how I could dress and enjoy the results!

Remember, MOST men r not TG!

The simple answer is "no". Most men like being masculine and manly.

We are all on a spectrum and even the most masculine will enjoy the feel of a satin nightgown in the right context. They just don't feel as strong of a need as we do.

Well, the chromosomes(XY) tell us that every "man" is half woman to begin with. How else could they appreciate nice things?:battingeyelashes::)

My feelings go along with the crowd here. Don't feel it is in most men. I do feel that it is ignored or not recognized, o rnot present in sufficient quantity to activate in a lot of men who go through their life with certain behaviors/feelings/attractions to the feminine, but misunderstand and think it is just the male to female attraction (yep, that's me) but is really something deeper.

Have to think we are unique, and don't really want to think I am just like all other men, I am enjoying my difference.

Kate is, of course, correct that our chromosomes dictate how much femininety we have as individuals. I do go along with the prevailing theory
that for a few million men with that normal XY combination they do still react, sooner or later, to a "trigger" that sends them along the CD path. Why some possess that trigger reaction and others do not still has not been explained as it's not genetic. Feeling more or less masculine does not seem to be a factor. However the main reason that I responded to this particulat thread was Sherry's comment that since most men are straight they would not become cross dressers. Fact: Most, perhaps 85% of CDs, are heterosexual CDs. Not making a judgment of any kind in mentioning that point. We can only guess whether there are more homosexuals and bisexuals in our country than straight CDs but I know for sure that most gay men are only attracted to men with a very few interested in CDs. In that remaining roughly 15% of cross dressers there are many who are BI but very few that are 100% gay. Those who finally fully transition are not included for, after all, both their sex and gender have changed. Please do not try to interpret the above as being written by a sister who is afraid that they might be gay. I've passed that point some 40 years ago and now secure in my orientation.

Those who are interested in the affect chromosomes have on femininity may be interested in reading about woman born with xy chromosomes but with complete androgen insensitivity.

Depending on how you qualify what a man or woman is than chromosomes are not an automatic factor and hormones play a much stronger influence.

These woman are sterile but in every other way appear to be women.

As far as tranny, if you mean men who like to present as female but identify as men than you have to take into consideration all the subsets of crossdressers and these subsets are made up of their motivations to crossdress.

For many there is or was a sexual component to the dressing where it was or is experienced as erotic.

Combine this with a high aesthetic sensitivity which you find among those of artistic and or creative temperaments and you have fertile soil for crossdressing.

Definitely the crossdressing is expressed differently between those who define themselves as introvert versus extrovert or straight versus bi-sexual so sex and temperament are strong factors that influence the expression of crossdressing.

I think male sexuality by its inherent nature to be so visual influences those men who find the female form erotic to than be inclined to find those objects that enhance the female form as erotic such as heels, undergarments,breast forms,ect..to than be erotic.

I have male friends who perform drag and are called trannies but identify as male and other friends who have completely transitioned and have no interest in gay men or drag shows.

There is no commonality between these two groups of people yet they have been both labelled as tranny.

Many men fantasize about being woman and I think this fantasy is partly driven by their sexuality and partly because it allows them to escape the oppressive experience of culturally enforced acceptable gender behavior but also in reaction to the absence of culturally enforced gender behavior now displayed by women.

Men are lovers of woman after all and much of this is romantized fantasy that is projected onto themselves as that perfect woman that can only exist in the mind.

I see crossdressers as using their own bodies to build alters to femininity as an act of worship.

Crossdressing is the intersection of worship and sex of and for the female as fantasy.

I think we will witness an explosion of crossdressing as woman no longer reflect the male fantasy of femininity

Men are builders and dreamers so if they do not find what they desire in another than they will make it for themselves.

I understand men much better now because of this forum. It was the aspect of worship that I could not understand.

Men live in their imagination and their identity is tightly bound up with how they relate to women as separate from them.

A man is a man because he is not a woman so as women change so will he.

But yes, every man has a femme side. I mean even Chuck Norris, Stephen Segall, and Bruce Willis like to wear frilly undies and dance around the living room while listening to the song "Man, I feel like a woman".

Even male MMA cage fighters like to sometimes wear a pink tutu and shake their butts in the mirror while jamming to "barbie girl" except they change the lyrics to say, "I'm a barbie man, I have a handsome can..."

For real though, I doubt every man has a TG side.

No, I don't buy this notion that all men are secretly a bit TG or want to crossdress. Sure there may be some that have thought about it but never have, and those that have dressed up for a laugh (usually with the 'comical' lack of effort) but for the most part, I think the majority of men have no interest in it at all, and I'd imagine there's a group of men who would really hate to wear womens clothes.

It's a bit like the 'all women are a little bit lesbian' claim... I get the feeling it's just a group of people projecting what they want to believe onto a huge and diverse group of people.

Gender is certainly a continuous spectrum and a significant percentage of the population does probably sit somewhere between the masculine and feminine extremes, but that being said, there will inevitably be those that exist at the edge of the spectrum who are unequivocally masculine/feminine.

I agree with most others in this thread with a NO, but being the :chatterbox: that I am, I'll follow with a long answer.

There's a small segment of the population that is not cisgender/heterosexual. I'm not taking into account cisgenders who have dressed once or twice in clothing of the opposite sex, or heterosexuals who have experimented once or twice with same-sex sex. I am referring to people who do this habitually for the long-term. The estimates of non-cis/heteros are between 3-5% of the population (give or take), which translates to about 300 million people world wide who experience gender ambiguity (physical or brain-gender intersex), transsexuality and/or same-sex attraction. This also means there are 6.7 billion people on this planet who have no interest in being or presenting in any other sex than birth sex, and who are also not same-sex attracted.

That said, the disappearance in recent generations of strict male/female work and family gender roles (such as during the 1950s) has done much to bridge pre-existing gender gaps, and this has helped current generations to realize that every human being, male and female, has the capacity for the full spectrum of human emotion and interests. :) This means that if a man likes to cook, or he has a creative interest in how his living room should look, or he enjoys caring for his kids for example, he is not thought of as being a man with a feminine aspect or bent. He is simply acknowledged as being a man who fits in with all the other males who have a very wide range of personalities and interests ... just as women who are ambitious, competitive, or who like to play sports are not thought of as being "part male". :)

So, no. I don't think you can say that most people have a proclivity for cross-gender expression (wearing clothes of the opposite sex in order to express who they are), or that they fit in the gray zone between the binary male and female, even though there are 300 million people who do fit in the gray in-between zone.

Now ... might more men than the 3% get off on wearing panties as a sexual thrill? Maybe, but this would be no different than males who get off on internet porn, wearing latex, bondage, etc. The nature of sexual thrills might well be becoming more varied in our societies due to resources that are now widely available through the internet, combined with a relaxation of rigid social rules and religious beliefs. But, this does not a tranny make. This is just sexual fetish and the freedom to enjoy it, no matter what it looks like.

I would like to know a little more about how you came to ‘3-5% of the population’ Not because I have any doubts about your statement, [I know you well enough not to doubt the accuracy of your post] I am just interested in how this information is obtained.

Extensive, huh? :o (I know ... it's always been hard for me to give a yes or no answer).

The 3-5% comes from various studies world wide. I keep meaning to create a bookmark folder for them all and also for my past posts with links. But for now, there's a page on wiki that has LGBT prevalence by country based on studies linked to at the bottom of the page, that gives similar results. One day I will take the time to pour through all the academic sites again and build up a list of bookmarks because this is something that people debate an awful lot here.

Oh, I assume there is a little tranny in every man. He either likes (entertains) the idea, or he is disgusted by it. If he is the latter, he will take steps to de-sensitize himself, usually in the company of other males, using various substances and activities to accomplish this feat. However, if he LIKES the idea of dressing up, the sheer weight of public expectation, coupled with a tacit acknowledgement of what MtF crossdressing either implies or expresses, may crush this lovely, delicate flower before she can bloom. The cards are stacked against our hero from birth, and he may never get to be the heroine in his own adventure story. It takes courage to deviate from the norm, you know...
