Bad idea

Today is a nice day to wash my car. So I did. Wearing a nice light summer dress. While it was comfortable and cool, it kept blowing up against the wet car while I was wiping down the top. It came that I had to hold the dress against my body with one hand, and scrub with the other. Sometimes that was awkward but I got the job done.
The lesson today: if you are going to wash your car by hand, don't wear a flowy dress! 😇

I wash mine in very short shorts, Wish I could do it in a Skirt!

My truck gets washed twice a year when it rains whether it needs it or not so what I wear is a moot point.

A dirty and or cluttered car makes me nuts! I wash it once a week. Sometimes more!

No car washing here today been raining all day although washing the car in a flowy dress might have been interesting to watch...

There was a member from Perth , W. Australia , Ellie she posted a similar thread some time ago about the same problem when washing a car, apparently s it was a regular thing with regular onlookers .

So what is the recommended outfit ? Mine needs washing because the combined harvester has just cut the winter wheat in the fields opposite and dumped straw dust over the whole nighbourhood !

When wearing a dress and washing the car........ Use the excess skirt to wash the car down with.

Where I used to live water was scarce and the sun was warm, when it rained you put on your bikini and washed the car with an old discarded blouse or dress. :-)

Thankfully I don't live in a water restricted area. (To my knowledge it has never happened in Maine)
Regardless, I have my own well an pump.
I once washed my car in a one piece swim suit (with built in skirt). That was fun! I love leotard and one piece swim suits.
I wish I had the capacity of wearing one without a built in skirt .... to hide the man bits.

This is where I am glad to have a range of clothes to choose from for certain tasks. Male clothes are brilliant for car washing.

I've washed my car both enfemm. And in male mode. Frankly neither/or are best. However, I hate male clothing. Very heavy and restricted. As opposed to women's clothing. Light and free flowing.

I usually wash ours in a woman's tee and golf shorts. Most of the time I let the carwash people do it. Years ago I was wearing a white souvenir tee while washing the car. One of the neighbor women walking her dog stopped to talk for a few minutes. When I turned back to walk back to the car, the window gave me a clear wet t-shirt view. I had been leaning on the car to wash the top. The bra was very visible. Neighbor never said a word and stayed friendly. I figure that she was well aware already about my clothing choices.

Everyone knows you wash your car in a bikini and high heels. Dose no one watch movies.

A woman would wash her car in shorts and an old T shirt (and a bra, of course). Or more likely, take it to the car wash and pay the man.

My wife reserves her good clothes for going out and wears old clothes for cleaning and other tasks where they might get dirty or damaged.

In no situation that I can envision is a dress a practical garment. It is intended for other purposes, like making a personal statement.

I agree. I wore a knee length skirt to wash the car once and had the same experience. Now, both washing the car and mowing the lawn, I wear short shorts, bra, light top,sometimes hose and flats...oh yes, small earrings, a little makeup and a flit of perfume. Sometimes, passing cars honk. I just wave back.

I have worn different dresses or skirts and blouses to the car wash. Hand the place money and even the tires are clean. Simple , easy, and clean. Never a problem and I do enjoy having the door opened for me.
