Came out to my 17 year old daughter

My wife is super accepting. She buys Camille lingerie for Christmas and attends various functions with me dressed. I have 3 daughters, but only the youngest lives at home. She is gay and is in a rock band. I have wanted to come out to her for a long time, but frankly, I have just been a big chicken. So I finally just opened up to her and it went swimmingly. One of the first things she want to know if if she could do my makeup sometime and then if she could go with me to the next event. Needless to say the chicken was being silly.

This is wonderful Camille, and wonderful that your family is so accepting of your fem self. I am curious though, what was your motivation to coming out at this time? I cannot imagine coming out to my sons, but maybe it might be necessary someday.

Glad it went well but sounds like you kind of knew it would considering. I think you will be having some interaction with her and a good time letting her do your makeup.It's great to have acceptance in the family, are you out to your other daughters?

I am so hopeful for this next generation. I think they get it in so many ways.

What fun it will be having her do your makeup. In the group I used to belong to one of the ladies was always accompanied by her spouse and her daughter (about 14). She was always so at ease around all of us and acted like she had 20 moms.

That is great that your daught is acepting. One of the best things I ever did was tell my two daughters, both where accepting it help my wife to be a little more accepting.

That is a perfect coming out story. Being chicken is understandable, but with the support of your wife, something that your need to overcome

Fantastic! My wife told our eldest daughter about me recently. I think my wife needed someone to talk to about it and my daughters reaction was "I didn't need to know that", so I don't think I will confront her unless she comes to me first and asks me about it.

Congrats on telling your daughter :)

My wife and I have chosen not to tell the kids. We still have two at home, though in five years time they'll both be gone. I just don't feel there's anything to be gained by telling them. Maybe once they're out, and I'm dressing a lot more frequently, I might need to tell them because of them suddenly coming home for some reason. Guess we'll play that by ear. My wife has pondered telling them after I'm gone.

its not so much the coming out bit that some find daunting but it is the aftermath when it all works out well. my grown up daughter was over the moon about it when i told her. I felt calm and at peace for the first time in years
