Out for once.

Last Saturday I got to spend the entire day out and dressed for once. For me, if it is not October, this is rare. My wife and I traveled to the Chicago area from our home to attend a Steampunk Convention. Let me tell you, these are some nice people. After attending last tear, my wife looked at me and told me that she saw no reason why I couldnt/shouldn't wear any of my Victorian dresses to the convention this year. So I did. I must admit that being over two hours from home with no other clothes but some extra lipstick made me a bit nervous, especially in broad daylight.

I had nothing to worry about though. The trip through Chicago's Saturday morning traffic was a bit slow at times, but easy enough. And once I made it to the Convention itself no one batted an eye at me. I mean, I wasn't passing, but to these folks I was just....one of them. I really wish the whole world worked this way.
Heck, I even got compliments about my outfit, shoes, and wig. Even my horns (the them was call of Cthulhu so I was dressed as a minor demon). We talked shop. The squeeze of a corset. The perfect wig length for traveling, and avoiding four inch heels if you are going to be on your feet all day long.

It really felt good to be me. Presenting in a way that makes me happy. My wife was fine also all day. When talking to people she happily introduced me as her husband. And except for a short time when she was shopping and I was snapping some portraits of other attendees we were side by side all day. We even stopped to talk with a pretty good photographer we had met there last year. We had about a dozen photos taken of us together, and probably twenty or so taken of us each individually. It will be a couple of weeks before they get edited, and I will sharecsome then. The photographer is good. Last year's with me in men's clothing he took couples photos. Posing us romantically, asking me to write something naughty on her cheek with my nose to make her smile and laugh... This year he realized without prodding that my wife would not be comfortable with that level of intimacy if it involved Kim, not Jerry. The guy is a natural.

I am already thinking about next year. An outfit that I have mentally played with for several years. SteamPunk Red Riding Hood.. Lycanthrope hunter.

Sounds like a great outing

In my experience I found I can go nearly anywhere wearing nearly anything as long as I have a GG along. She removes the possible, "OMG! A scary weirdo", factor!:thumbsup:
