Not feeling pretty
I know many of you have struggled with challenges and health issues. Most have met those challenges admirably.
Lately I have had a few issues and setbacks that have affected my confidence , mental health and dressing . I suffer with allergies that affect my use of make up. I have 2 chronic skin conditions. One of the symptoms can be reduced by moisturiser and topical antibiotics . The other causes infections on my scalp and bleeding. I sleep with a teeshirt on my pillow to protect the pillowslip. It has also resulted in significant hair loss. It also limits how long I can wear wigs. When I look in the mirror I see in my eyes an ugly old man. Fortunately neither issue is life threatening. Also there have been a number of bereavement?s recently that have affected me negatively.
My wife doesn?t approve of my dressing. Iam in the closet and opportunities are very limited. My question is, how do you maintain your enthusiasm under challenging circumstances?
Sorry for the rant. I dont want to sound like if it wasnt for bad luck I would have no luck at all.I am fortunate in other ways than many others.

It’s okay to rant Debbie, especially here.
Sorry to hear that you’re not feeling pretty. Maintaining enthusiasm can be hard, especially when feeling low.
I recently struggled to feel pretty and went and had a makeover. I assume with your allergies a makeover may not be possible?

Here is a sympathetic hug, Debbie.
The hair is so important--you must feel frustrated.
Have you tried different wigs? Synthetic? Premium brands?
Short?
And there is a small chance you could find a hat that would suit the situation.
Small hat...big sun hat?
Show us what you can do. A pretty dress and shoes will distract the onlooker's eyes.
Here is a sympathetic hug.

Hi Debbie
My heart goes out to you I can only imagine the distress and discomfort a condition like yours must be.
I have seen programmes with people who have similar skin conditions and it seems tropical lotions can alleviate the causes in many cases let's hope in time yours calm down.
As you know I'm the Queen of wigs but it seems they can also be an irritant.
Good luck with your treatment.

Sorry to hear about these frustrating conditions.

It?s not a rant. I suspect many here have similar circumstances. Sorry about your heath issues. Health problems can bring down most anyone.
It can be difficult when you have no opportunities to dress up any more. It has been 5 months for me with little opportunity in sight. So the way I deal with it is to immerse myself in my other hobbies and projects around the house. When I focus on those things, I do not dwell over what I miss so much.

Thanks Lotte, Jennifer, Amy, Kim and Sandi for your kind words.
I wear a baseball cap to protect my scalp against the sun. Its become a bit of a trademark. So much so that my friend recognised me from the cap before seeing me.
I have immersed myself in my other hobbies to distract myself . I haven?t give up on a makeover yet. Its just finding the time to do it.Maybe a minimalist one.
There maybe an opportunity to dress in November when the family go to the theatre without me, hopefully before. Its just so frustrating .

Hi Debbie, I can certainly feel your condition. It is most definitely a hard road to walk trying to feel in the girl mode when it seems so much is pushing back on you. For me to dress in full girl with my makeup allergies I pay for it in spades. So it?s a rare occasion. Plus the body is far less girl than the mind. But it is amazing how far you can push the envelope working with what you have. For me I live in tights, leggings and shelf bra camisoles keeping the colors subtle. No one gives me a second glance. I live in a very redneck town. So you might think of ways you can keep your girl moving forward with what can do. I know people seem to think it?s all in or nothing, but hey got to cut your self some slack.
