Feeling genuine

This is a question mainly for those who regularly go out in public but anyone may answer.We've been asked lately if we feel like women when we dress, we've been asked if we feel submissive when we dress, now I'm going to ask this: Do you feel "genuine" when you go out en femme or do you feel it is just a role you are playing? Is it the real you or just a "suit" you put on? I have to answer it is genuine for me, as it is a major part of who I am and this is how I outwardly express it.:happy: Ericka

Oh, definitely genuine for me. (I do have my qualms with all this 'submissive' stuff - I think that's a cliche, gender tourism or internalized pornography, and would bet most GGs turn on the 'submissive' when and if they need to, but no one with any motivation in life is 'submissive' all the time.) Like I've said before, I was living a womyn's life long before I presented - and I believe, like all things, there is a huge range of emotions involved in this.

Great question Ericka!

When I am out in the public dressed en femme, at this point in time at least, I still feel like me, just better dressed. I have been informed by other CDs that I have come to know that my persona will morph as I get out more, we will see.

I was asked this same question by a GG at a dance I attended en femme and my response was the same, I just feel like me. She was very disappointed with that answer, she said that she expected that I would feel sexier or ****ty or whatever, but not the same. Oh well you can please everyone.

For a few minutes it feels quite un-natural and very much like wearing a disguise. Shortly (and this feeling comes more quickly each time I go out) I stop thinking about it and then it becomes quite a natural feeling indeed.

When I first step outside en femme I am vulnerable to feeling that I'm just playing a role, but after about ten minutes I begin to feel comfortable as a TG person just doing their thing.

I don't think of myself as a genuine woman, but I sure like it when the people who see me don't notice that I'm not a GG. :D

It feels genuine to me, although obviously I know I'm not a "real woman". But when I'm en femme I feel happy, contented and comfortable. Sometimes I feel a little less confident about my appearance than perhaps I should do, but by and large, being fully en femme in public places is a wonderful liberating experience that feels like I should be doing it. It's definitely not "just a suit".

would love for it to be Genuine still having problems with the voice , odd I can get the voice when Im alone driving but soon as Im around others dang if the voice crawls an hides in some corner an I give my self away.
only been out 3 time an looking to go out agin in late Jan. may be then.

DayTripper....you had to know that you were going to piss off a GG somewhere with such a statement....and you got me....GGs dont need or want to be submissive at any point....and majority of us choose NOT to ever be submissive....it serves us NO purpose in life.....none....we are women....already seen as the weaker sex....so submissive would only serve to drop us just one more notch lower....every woman in the world knows this and would be happy to share with you what its like to live in a mans world....submission....not everyone in this world is a dominatrix....that is the cliche....that is the pornography....that is the gender tourism.....careful what you say about a GG....you have not had to live a life where a man got a job over you just because he is a man and you are a woman yet you the woman hold a college degree and he holds only his crotch when he pees ....and yes that happened...and happens everyday....

Very good question Ericka.

When I go out I do feel a sense of comfort and relaxation that I never feel en-drab. It's a sense of "This is how things should be". If that is genuine then I would have to say yes, I'm genuine to myself.

On the other hand, going out totally en-femme, presenting as a female, I also get a feeling of deception. I feel some guilt that I am deceiving those who I come in contact with.

The genuine feeling of comfort outweighs the guilt I sometimes feel. I don't believe that what I am doing harms anyone else.

If I could snap my finger and have a female body and voice anytime I wanted to, I don't think I would be too many snaps away from never coming back.

Ericka, although I've never really been out in public, I do dress every day when I can. This week has been good. I'm still myself whether I'm dressed or not, although I am still working on my voice and makeup. I do feel more womanly at times. Especially when my GF comments about my hair or something. I really can't wait to get the other 2 girls I've been E-Mailing and myself together for a ''girls night out''. I think that that experience will give more incite. I do, however feel more like myself when I'm enfemme, so maybe that will help me when I do go out.

Not to steal the thread away but times have changed lately. I was TOLD that the job was going to a female not because she was better qualified but they need to fill a quota. Funny she quit the position because it wasn't what she wanted. I'm glad they didn't ask me to take it because I would have told them where to go. But I do support anyone who's more qualified for a job be they male of female.:thumbsup:

To answer Erica's question. No this is no costume. No this is no attempt to deceive anyone. This is who I am. A transgendered person. I find that I feel quite natural when I'm dressed. In fact I'm more of a positive person and much more happy. So who's to deny me my dressing ? No one at this point. But I'm certainly ready for the one brave enough to talk to me seriously as to why I'm presenting my self in this way.:D

Relatively, because I still don't know if I have cut enough through the jungle of clichés that cover CDing like a curtain, to see myself clear enough.
Just following clichés would be disguise. Deliberately using clichés as a form of self-expression would be genuine.

Genuine, because it seems to be a 24/7 thing that can't be switched on and off. There is no feminine and masculine mode, there is just the ME-mode that has to be masked more or less at times.

How genuine one can be, if one constantly compares oneself to others and adapt to them (that's what we CDs do)?

it is genuine for me, this is who i am .. from a ts side last week was turkey time at work you all had to have the turkey lol . so when we were done i went in the next day in drab as i was going to get real dirty. and i felt so out of place. and could not Wait to get home so i can shower and fem myself up..
should i go out out in public as a guy well that would be strange after two years en-femme... ewww

Well, most of these 'feeling genuine' threads do rather tend to annoy the GGs, so that's sorta just a given. (I am surprised you're turning on the firehoses because so many of my comments challenge gender stereotypes.)

Just because I am (obviously) not a woman, however, doesn't mean I'm oblivious regarding the topic. I've lived with women, and have been intimately acquainted with their struggles, almost my entire life.

I will stand by my observation that, for women, 'submissiveness' can be 'turned on' when and if (notice that word if) necessary; I didn't say whether or not they might be thrilled about employing this survival mechanism.

I shall answer the question a bit differently. When I am out and perceived as a woman, that's partly due to the clothes, and the makeup and partly due to the way I act and behave, which is not role-playing.

I have to agree with the other girls on one point, the more you go out, the closer you get to it being really "you". Even to other CDers it is hard to explain the feeling of being out in public as a woman. I've been doing it alot in the last 6 months and each time it gets closer to some goal that I can almost taste. The last two times out, I felt more than attractive, I felt truely pretty. When you feel that good about your outward appearance, it changes how you feel inside. When I go out to clubs now, I feel sexy and not awkward at all. Once I am fully dressed, it only takes me a few minutes, and then yes, I feel genuine.

About as genuine as I can feel. At first, which was long ago, I was always looking at the way people looked at me instead of looking at how I felt about me. I took it slow and it seems all the peices fell into place. There wasn't any quick changes that would draw attention. It all happened over time. I guess that is why I feel totaly comfortable in public. Which is where I wanted to be all along.

My dream was to leave my house the same way I woke up, if that makes any sense. I would get mad at myself knowing I left part of me at home. Until I realized I can't change the world, just me, did I totally except myself the way I was born. That part of me I left at home, became all of me and I'm glad for it. Great question Ericka.

Yes, even age appropriate woman with dignity and class!

When working in the professional careers (male) I have had to dress for the role, and play the role better than anyone else...includes sports and business careers.
