Dealing With Lonelyness

I'm 24 and haven't had a gf in a long time. Or a best friend in a long time. And I never had a bf due to the fact that I don't really like guys because of their nature and I'm not as attracted to them.I have some friends that are non TG persons.And I want someone who can do these girl things with me. My women friends are ok but they still don't know the culture of TG people.

I want a best friend who is a TG/TS/CD/TV/DQ so bad but there are so few of us.
I am in the Tampa Area of Florida.
Do you have any advice for me? Or know where I can meet some cool local TG girls that wanna be friends?

Do you know what I can do to aleviate this lonelyness of being the only T-girl I currently know? I miss the days of playing dress up and makeover and going out to restraunts with my homegirls.
What do you do when you feel you're the only person like you close-by where you live? And it's hard to even find friends when I do meet T's because most of them escort and that's their bread and butter and livelyhood. They start to feel jepardized and competed against.

Any suggestions?

Well wherever you meet these escorts, don't hang out there. There is definately the "bad girl" sector of the TG community. I often wonder if the majority of the CD/TS we hear about suffering hate crimes tend to dabble in the bad girl life... I wonder just how sad anyone would feel if it was mostly the TG sex workers who were suffering hate crimes.

Anyways, are there any support groups? just search "crossdresser support group" and the name of your city. Keep in mind that most CD who go to those are not spring chickens.

I wouldn't mind coming to visit hang out or whatever, but we are a distance. You are more than welcome to message me if you like.


On another note, yeah CD friends seem hard to find. I know several CDs but most of the time wouldn't have a thing to talk about cause like all people, CDs' personalities tend to vary widely. I enjoy the company of my CD sisters but yeah it is hard to find really good friends.

I know how you feel... I'm pretty much in the same position. Luckily, I do have a GF, but she is 350 mi. away... All my best friends are either headstrong into computer games, or are off doing drugs and constantly trying to push me into that scene... I've never had any TG/TS friends, either ('cept on these forums).

The only thing I do to kill time is just sit online and chat with my GF. I'd love to hang out, but I'm all the way on the other side of the states from you, lol. It's tough.. but, there are more than likely groups or meetings around you that you can attend. Just search online (pick the nearest decent sized city to start).

I would think in Tampa there would be a Tri-Ess club or some sort of Cd club..that is how I met folks and met my good friend who I will go to the clubs with on weekends..I have know her for about 15yrs now, she is living full time , so check into that

on a side note, I am thinking of moving to Fla next year, to be closer to my parents who are getting up there in years, so Tampa might be a cool place to live, so maybe I will do that

There should be a LGBT community center somewhere around there or at the universities too.

Have you thought about attending Southern comfort Conference in Atlanta at the end of the month. It certainly within driving distance and many girls seem to go. I have never been but it is a premeire conference and you may find some girls local to you or more local that are not of the "bad" girl variety.

Tessa, we have a great many young members. Unfortunately, I don't know how u can find ones that live near u! U can keep following the conversations in the various forums here. And keep posting, too. It may help keep u in touch with as many members as possible!

In addition to locating a support group, seek out TG-friendly venues where you can hang out and get to know people, and let them get to know you -- clubs, coffeehouses, that sort of thing. Yes, it takes courage -- your heart will be pounding at first, and it will take a little while for people to warm up to you, but you'll soon calm down and they will open up to you if you'll just be real and friendly. And who knows, you might just find your new BFF, but even if you don't, even if you just make some new acquaintances, at least you'll get some human interaction to relieve the loneliness. Just stay away from the dives and rough parts of town and the seedy side of life.

I'm sure there is a LGBT (or as I prefer it, a TLGB) group either at your local university or in the general community in Tampa---equally sure there are internet groups for Ladies like Us where girls local to your area post---also sure there are gay/tg bars that would welcome people like Us. I used to talk to another girl on-line who was moving to the Tampa area from Datona Beach. She told me that Tampa is one of the better cities for girls like us but unfortunately I'm not able to give you specifics. It sounds like it won't be too hard to connect with someone in our life style. Good luck.
