There's an emerging point of interest in the scholarly world blatantly called "Fat Studies," in which individuals have been studying the relation between weight and gender representation. Their results so far are the opposite of what some of you are saying: more weight means a greater chance of androgyny (and, hence, manipulation to a gender you prefer), while less weight means a greater chance of being read in your sexed body. Although it goes against the logic of biology, it's apparently how the public reacts. Unfortunately, the studies are hard to find; enough to the point that I can't find them for reference at the moment!
Also, a quick "warning" to those MtFs who are interested in trying yoga or pilates: Both are known and meant to increase flexibility and hence straighten out your spine. On the FtM side, I personally use it to increase my natural height and have so far seen a half inch of improvement. So for those of you tall MtFs already uneasy about your height, keep this in mind. It'll make you taller.

I'm as yoga freak, no question, but your post reminded me of something else entirely.
My ex-wife had many problems, with one of them being she was frustrated that I was only 5'11". She wanted to be married to a six-footer, and she was convinced if I just had better posture, I'd be her ideal mate.
Years after our divorce, my daughter and I were rear-ended on a highway, and I got several years of treatment at an osteopathic clinic. (Osteopaths are essentially chiropractors with medical degrees). My back was cracked three times a week, and I was put on a...well how should I put it...rack.
When my treatment was completed, I was (temporarily) 6'1".
(currently about 5'10")

Cardio, Cardio, Cardio. That's the heart of it. No weight lifting, unless it's low weight, high repetition. Stick to that, and it'll slim you down. But, it'll only help a little, given that with male hormones running through your body, when you get slim, you lose curves. Slimming down first, then getting HRT is the only way to really start resembling the female form.

Actually, women look more feminine and softer when they have some fat (I'm not saying BBW, just not 'eat a sandwich'). A woman's body fat percentage is naturally higher than a males, but they keep it in different areas. For men, we have to get the thinner areas as thin to minimize our overall figure, but that leaves the other areas too thin, hence the padding.
But then, women come in all shapes and sizes. If you want an hourglass figure, you're going to need to get as thin as you can safely for the waist and arms and bulk out the hips (women's pelvis is wider than ours for birthing!)
