This seems to me like, by you by turning red and saying that your wife likes it, made her think that you were being forced to shave your chest unwillingly, and so she says "oh do you make her shave too?". It's kind of a weird thing to say back to you but I doubt she meant anything bad or to shock you.

She was just trying to put you at ease. I was at my doctor yesterday and nothing was said about my shaved chest and pits, nor about my legs which are half-shaved. Kept my mouth shut. But doctor knows because my wife told him 10 years ago. But last year I discussed my cd with the head nurse and the doctor--showed them a pic or two on cell phone. No problem. But next week my wife went in and head nurse mentioned my pics. Whoops. My wife was very angry at me when she got home.

with all of the products that are advertised for men to shave body hair from chest, legs, and other body parts, I'm very surprised that there is any reaction at all.

You could say something to the hospital and probably get this person in a lot of hot water. But ask yourself - is it really worth it? Just write it off as a dumbass remark and let it go.

As an afib patient I have EKG's all the time. I always have a shaved chest and legs and I've never had a comment from anyone.
Cat, you brought up an interesting thought, has having breasts from hormones had any effect on having an EKG? I'm very seriously considering starting a hormone routine

I doubt having breasts causes a problem or else half the population would have EKG issues.

Take the comments as friendly banter, they have seen it all, convenient that you knew beforehand to shave your chest, I told them that I had naired my chest because I did not want some masochist pulling the hairs off my chest and I didn't like shaving anyway. This puts the ball in their court. All I got was that more men should be more forward thinking as an intimate stick of the sensors makes for a good ecg anyway.

I'm a paramedic, and having done those in the field (typically on a persons worst day), I have to say its surprising she would use that phrasing with regards to your wife. Nothing illegal or unethical was done, simply a person who's done it a while and let it slip. If she were to go around talking about you and pointing or making it known what you do that's a different story. You are entitled to file a cOmplaint that the comment bothered you, but it'll amount to little other than a verbal note to her. She's seen stranger than you before, trust that. And to those asking, hormones won't affect the EKG, it simply displays the pathway of electrical current through the heart.
