Maria, I think your last post (#25) is a sensible approach. It let's you be a peace maker with out taking sides.
Closed minded persons can change their views and outlooks but for that to happpen, they need empathy I think. Thinking your brother is closed minded and has strong feelings about how he sees his lifestyle developing. On the other hand though, he may see it as an embarrassment to him and his family in which case he should examine whether his own feelings and happiness is more important than that of his sons.
It?s very complex and probably way over your pay grade. He should probably seek professional guidance to figure it out before he damages a relationship over their lifespan. Probably shouldn?t say too much about in fear of hurting maybe an already damaged relationship between you and him. Very complicated!
