It would be really nice to see it, but not in my life time:2c: ...can always wish though...
If men and women ever begin to wear the same clothing, I'm afraid that it is most likely that everyone will be wearing something like a Mao suit. No thanks.
Occasionally, every couple of years, an Italian or French designer, or some other temporarily deranged designer, (that according to the press at the time) will come out with skirts for men. I remember one time back in the 70's when a famous designer had a line, can't remember his name. But the networks and news outlets had stories and pictures. The models actually looked pretty good in them even though they kept their masculine walk. But, alas, the fashion did not take hold.
Jamsey.
No question it will come some day. Women wearing pants would have been unthinkable only a couple of hundred years ago. No question in my mind we are headed for a gender nuetral society in the next couple of hundred years. The bad news is, what fun will cross dressing be then?! LOL

Excerpt from "Lola" by The Kinks...
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
Its a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
Well I left home just a week before
And Id never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said dear boy Im gonna make you a man
Well Im not the worlds most masculine man
But I know what I am and Im glad Im a man
And so is Lola
Although I don't think that a grand-scale change in attitudes and behavior related to crossdressing will come any time soon, I do think that there have been incremental changes. This forum represents one of them: when I began crossdressing, there was virtually no where to go to connect with other crossdressers. As a matter of fact, I believed that I was alone. Later, as I grew to understand more about human nature, I began to speculate that I couldn't possibly be the only one. But I still had little way to learn or gain understanding about from my own reflections.
Still later, I discovered books and other publications that helped me find support, if only some self-confidence based on the realization that there were, indeed, others who crossdressed.
In the meantime, more publications, more open discussions, etc. ensued. These changes have been great.
Nonetheless, a "global" change is still a long way off. A recent posting on "underwear" stands as an example of the enduring attitudes that block progress toward acceptance of crossdressing in contemporary American culture. That thread focused on the stigma imposed on men who buy women's underwear. Most crossdressers have probably felt this at some time or another, and most of us have probably observed that similar stigma are not present when women buy men's underwear. It is just one small example of the social-cultural conditions in which we live, but it does play an enduring role in the "acceptance" arena.
I recently read that several manufactures were going to pantyhose for men and anticipate that there is a large market awaiting for them.
As far as dressing as a girl, when I'm outside the house in the yard, I often wear a "kilt" like dress. Mostly semishort, 18 to 20", and pleated somewhat like a school girl skirt. It's close enough to a kilt that if I were suprised by an unexpected visitor, I would have a good alibi. If the visitor were a stranger I wouldn't care what they thought or what I was wearing. However, for close friends I am still not out.
I think more likely that, if anything, cding could become more accepted as a minority group. But would remain a minority group. This may mean acceptance in some communities of open crossdressing (already true) but I suspect tolerance throughout the U.S. would be patchy. Joni
The Day Is Already Here
Being in the medical industry, I try and keep a eye out for articles that may affect us. One such article mentioned that do to the high state of hormonal chemicals in ground water, food, and etc. That more men will develope breast tissue like women, more fem body shape, and men and womens brains will become more and more similar.
I can see in a hundred years both men and women will look the same. Both will have breasts, larger hips, softer voices, and be more emotional.
Would I want to see the day when anyone could dress as they wish? Of course! Within taste, that is. :p
That said, what's the issue that's prohibiting this change? When women began to dress in pants, jeans, and such, they were seen as dressing up. That is, they were seen as dressing in a "stronger" more "powerful" mode. When men dress en femme, they are seen as relinquishing this control, this power
Now, do I believe that men are the dominate sex? No way! I see women and men as equals ... period.
But clothing is symbolic. It says something about the person. If a man constantly wears pink "mens" clothing, what label would you apply to him? Or if a woman always wore jeans and leather jackets, then what?
See? We stereotype individuals because of what they wear, not necessary how they behave (though dress is a part of behavior).
IMHO, in order for women and men to dress as they wish, with no reprocussions, we will need to lose this connection between dress and labels relating to power of position. Good Luck!
"our day will come" these would be good words for a song!
I don't think it will happen in my lifetime but in my next one when I come back as sandra it may happen.
Ah I found the reference to the article I was reading. It said that both male and female will
1. Men will have breasts (B,C,D cups)
2. Men will have larger hips
3. Men will have softer voices
4. Men will be more emotional
5. Women will be over 6' tall.
6. Women will be more masculain looking
7. Women may have more facial hair
8. Clothing styles will merge to fit both male and females.
9. The only distenction between sexes will be females will give birth, males will not. Outward appearances will be the same.
I think things are changing and maybe someday. Let's see
Just wondering, did you read the article that humans will soon separate into two species? One would be short and squat like and the other would be tall lean with silky hair. Yeah I know it sounds crazy, but sometimes crazy things are true.Quote:

Will the day come when boys can dress as girls?
We are all free to dress as girls today.
Will the day come when society will accept boys dressing as girls?
No IMO, that day will never arrive.
:heehee: what do you mean a lot of us dress the way we want now :heehee: that's why we enjoy the best of two worlds

What is “dressing like a girl”?
Putting on a skirt only?
Underwear only?
Wearing a skirt and blouse, no attempt to try to pass as a women.
Trying to pass by wearing a wig, dress, nails, corset, makeup etc.
Not caring whether you pass with the preceding, but “pretending”?
Wearing a dress or skirt or completely fixed up with a beard?
Skirts made for men? (These are not women’s skirts in men’s sizes but skirts in masculine patterns and colors.)
I feel that some of us have to get “all fixed up” because you cannot get away with just wearing a skirt in public. So you have to go all the way.
I doubt that it will ever be acceptable. The problem is that it is perfectly OK for a woman to wear mans pants and a mans shirt out in public. But if a man puts on a skirt he will be an outcast. (A women was quoted in TV that men should be banned from wearing kilts except in special occasions because their legs are ugly”)
Even kilts are stared at and I have heard of men in kilts being refused service in restaurants. I have seen signs on door “Men, no pants no service”. It was at beaches they did not want people just in swim suits.
What really is “dressing like a girl”? Wearing women’s clothes, I do not think they are the same thing.
I am wondering about this. I would because I do not like being confined in pants. I like the colors of women’s clothes and the materials.
How many would just wear skirts and or blouses every day (or just about) if you could? How about a mens skirt? No make up no wig etc.
Would that be nice?
To tell you the truth it seems that most women are not wearing “women’s clothes” they are wearing pants. (Granted pants made for women.) So if women are not wearing women’s clothes why cannot men?
I guess the key words here are "and not be looked at oddly" I was explaining to my wife that if she were to go to the mail box on the street in a plaid "man's" robe no-one would blink an eye. If I were to go in the silky flowing robe I have the entire neighborhood would be talking for weeks. Not fair, maybe, but If it were that easy where would the excitement be?

I guess it's just a matter of when YOU decide it's acceptable. i am enfemme 24/7 there will always be those who snicker,or name call..no matter what the reason....And there are those who do accept, and those who really don't care one way or another. If you are waiting for some magic spell that makes everyone accept a man in female clothing....Don't hold your breath. Get out there....Some will and some won't accept, just as any other thing in life.
I accept myself......and it wasn't always so.

OUCH! who pushed me off my soap box?
Everything changes.
