One of the local malls has a Piercing Pagoda, a kiosk on the mall. They do a lot of ear piercing and no one pays any attention to who is having his or her ears pierced. It is so common these days for guys to wear studs and small rings that it is very common to see a gut getting his ears pierced. If that is to public then there are many tattoo parlors that also do body piercings, including ears. A tattoo parlor is going to be more private; the one in my community is small and tucked away where there isn’t much foot traffic.
I see from your profile that you are in your mid-fifties and it surprises me that you are still so concerned about what others may think. When you are out do you take such an interest in what other people around you are doing? Unless you are doing something to attract attention to yourself most people won’t even notice you; You really need to lighten up a bit, your most likely not that much of interest to anyone around you, especially strangers. In all likelihood you will never encounter those strangers again, so how does what they think in that fleeting moment affect the rest of your life? If you are serious about getting your ears pierced just go do it, in a matter of minutes it will be over.
