add one more in the 52 year old column
somewhere between 53 &55
I have to assume that you find too cryptic, so I'll put it another way. As I'm not yet over the century, the palindromic ages are
11
22
33
44
55
66
77
88
99
In my other posts, I mention some of my earliest memories of dysphoria being around 47 years ago - so that excludes everything from 11 to 44
I also mention that I was about 8 years old at the time so that excludes everything form 66 to 99.
I still leave it to the reader to work out what is left.
I knew you meant either 44 or 55, but I couldn't determine which, although you certainly look like 33 to me. :) I don't remember reading the part about "47 years ago".
It is an interesting demographic, but when thinking of skew and bias and such, are people who are older more likely to respond? This would present a bias, so as with all this stuff we need to be careful how we present data... some younger members (well one I think) suggested this proved why they felt uncomfortable about aspects of the site, so presenting a justification. But if it is true, this does raise a lot of questions about the nature of the site, it's appeal, etc..
I am with Karren on this... we are of both of similar age (from previous posts)... sometimes it's good to know one is in the bigger bit of the bell curve rather than an outlier! Though I think the outliers rock!
86 on May12th or as I like to say: 70 plus S & H
Appreciate knowing what the tally might be
Julie Gaum
I am in my mid 44's now
Or could an alternative explanation be that those whose age qualifies them for the Young Members' Forum find more in that forum to interest them than in the main MtF forum? In the same way that if I have to make a choice between Safe Haven and the more public areas, I will tend to go for Safe Haven.
Flattery will get you everywhere! :heehee:
This is purely anecdotal but when you consider the answers of members here to the query "when did you start..." there's a whole lotta 'since I was a kid.' There are definitely other socio-generational differences that lead to a higher proportion of the older population actively participating on the forum(s), but I'd wager a bet that a large random study of males who have crossdressed would be pretty evenly spread out.
With regards to those who crossdress regularly, probably a different story for the same reasons as forum participation.
btw, I love you Reine. I love every single one of your posts. :)
edit: oh yeah, 20s.
While the age group we my fall under my have an impact on our mindset of the way we respond to post on this site I feel where we live must also have am impact. Just as an example in politics where we live has determined who we vote for and this seems to have been generally the same for a very long time. Perhaps someone with more time than I should attempt to see if this is true in our commuity too

Nice one Kendra! I am very into social science research and although I may seem to be "poopooing" the outcome of this thread it is with good intention... the thread throws up some good data, but we then need to challenge what that data says, as all research is fundamentally biased by its design. I have always wanted to to do some research into "us lot" and this site presents a great population/sample... but I am always bowled over by the diversity. I admit to being suprised by the demographic, but then I wan to know why this demographic? is this representative of the population or is this representative of those who choose to participate in this thread?
So age and other factors come into play... As a natural researcher, I would love to do the definitive study!
58 and going on ancient.
56 with the mindset of a 14 to 15 yr old :)
I am between 40 and 50.
25-30, luckily still on the lower end of that range.
Turned 51 this year..........ahhhhh if I only knew.............
Just turned 64 yesterday.
I will be 40 next week
66 and praying to get a lot older.
60 seems like a good age for me.
I'm 48. I'm honestly surprised at the number of folks over 50. I've wondered if I will want to keep doing this as I get older, but seeing how great you girls looks gives me hope. :)
I agree with the others that free time is probably a large reason why the ages skew towards older girls. There might also be a certain amount of wtf attitude that we adopt as we get older that makes us not care about being out. I was terrified of being discovered when I was younger, and now I really don't care. At 48, I know who I am, and that can't be threatened anymore by someone else's reaction to what I do.
just for the sake of posting, I've got a few more months of 27...time to get busy living
Wasnt going to post in this, but it's in the name of science, so..........
I'm 51......been dressing since the age of 12?......so lets say I've been at it for 39 years.
More free time is an important aspect in the age differemce theory, I know that being semi retired has given me more opportunities for being femme. I also take advantage of any and all opportunities. :)
Got to try and boost the younger numbers have just turned 22 and loving every minute.
Being full of flu this week I'm feeling about 150. for the purpose of this question however I'm a young 49.
I am 45.
Need to add a word to get to 20 characters.
I'm 36. Old enough to something, too young to something else.
turning 32 on the end of the year!
49 and three quarters...
I'm a Happy 79 and never enjoyed life more!!
I'm 57 and will turn 58 in Sept.
I'm 54, and I've been doing this since I was 12 or 13.
In drab, people generally guess anywhere from 5 to 10 years younger...
I will be 47 in a month
I am 47 ...48 in August, been doing this since I was 14....
I'm 58 and will be until my birthday.
61 but feel much younger and sometimes act even younger than that.
Sophie, I agree. There may be a generational thing here. I'll bet if we had taken this poll 40-50 years ago, there might have been even more skewness toward "more mature" ladies. Back then society was less accepting and we were less aware of what it meant to be transgender -- or were more repressed about it. My hat is off to our younger sisters who are aware of who they are now and express it!
Had I known then what I know now, my life might have been quite different! :daydreaming:
58, but very young at heart.
What ever results can be concluded from all the responces to this thread it can only be representive of those who choose to participate in this thread. As for my Political map I am not trying to suggest at all we compare our political preferances but I use it to show that the very heavily populated areas of the US just by virtue of their density can make life in general so much different than in other parts of the country.
Even though I live in Oklahoma I live in the City where I assume most of us dress and appear like the average person does in most other larger cities. I have to look very long and hard to find anyone wearing boots and a cowboy hat. Drive just 20 minutes in any direction from where I live and about all you see are dudes in pickup trucks with gun racks wearing boots and cowboy hats. There has got to be a connection there somewhere that has more to do with the "norm" for the area and not just about their age.
I can see where the OP's question is heading and it seem rather obivious from the post so far that the difference between age groups here and their mindset might just have something to do with the fact those of us who are older lived thru years and remember well when tollorance of everthing was not taught the way it is today thus shaping our mindset and making it difficult for us to become as open about things as the younger generation is.
Claire that would be a great question to have answered. I might just take that bet simply because I think it has been the loss of the average female looking extremely feminine in the last 50 years which has caused some of us to pursue it in our dressing. I personally have always wondered if the 55 and over age group of CD's has so much more interest in garter belts and stocking simply because we grew up seeing our mothers and females everywere wearing them daily. Pantyhose did not become popular till the mid 60's and it seems there are more CD's under 50 who love pantyhose rather than stockings.
Sorry I don't mean to hijack this thread about just posting age.
I'll be 61 for a couple more months and then I'll apply for early social security. Uncle Sam will help me improve my wardrobe, isn't he sweet?
I just turned 61
Aging is manditory maturity is optional
I'm 41. I must say, the older members here look amazing!
39 but just about to turn 40. OMG.
76 and hanging in there. Actually when I look at Edwina in the mirror I feel much younger :D
I'm 61 years old and am quite happy I got this far
I'm 23, This is quite an interesting thread I didn't realise how many people were here that were 50+. Makes me wonder if this just happens to be the demographics for the site or whether this is actually a larger trend.
39 going 40 in November
Threescore and more-but told I don't look it or act it.
