When I was testing the waters with my GF, I would threaten to wear tights and a tutu and call myself "Sally". She'd protest and threaten to shaver her head and call herself "Merv" (ya... messed it up on my screen name). I don't really like the name Sally, but I'll keep it for sentimental reasons :)

I picked mine because it is very similar to my male name, close enough that i was called Lois quite often as a child because they thought my male name was mis-spelled...Loic vs Lois
Lois

I choose mine because it is the name of my first GF.:)
-
I chose the name Jessica because it was the name of my first crush, back in grade school. Ever since then I have liked the name.
-
I really have never thought of chosing a name. I have never been sure about it, just as I had to be very cautious about dressing. Is that wrong? Should I have thought of a name by now?
-
I was given this name by the girl next door when we would play dressup. So I've always thought of myself as Susan.
-
Femme Name

Mine just popped into my head while driving one day, and as I thought about it I realised there were several layers of metaphor in it. Its a powerful image reflecting how powerful I sometimes feel, and the shifting colours and patterns reflect my ever evolving personality and emotions. Thus I kept it.

Rebekah Jones: Rebekah was a girl I went to primary school with, she was very sensitive and easily upset, whenever she cried I would feel very bad for her. I also love the fact that the meaning of Rebekah is ‘to bind’. Jones comes from the old TV series ‘Take a letter Mr Jones’, there was always something about the gender role swap of the show that interested me for some reason :)

I think I have always been Rachael Katherine
-
I picked Salenna after two different fictional characters.
Sellene from Underworld and Saleena Kyle from Batman. Both to me were strong, beautiful women who would not be controlled by any man.
Jade came from Mara Jade, a Star Wars character who I really admire

For some dumb reason I chose Kerry Lee years ago and have used it so long that to change it now would be totally confusing to my friends. If I'd have thought of it at the time it would have been Denise the femme version of my drab name.
Kerry Lee aka Denise

Origin of Female Name
I too thought I had responded once before. But if not, here it is:
Sometimes, when my wife calls me on the phone, I will answer (using Robin Williams' voice in "Mrs. Doubtfire"), "HHHEEELLLOOOOOO!" My wife will always answer back, "Well hello Darlene!" So, My Wife Calls Me Darlene, hence, MWCMDarlene.

Hi All: Well my femme name is close to my real name and
as I was told once by a moderator (nothere) that, "half of all
the crossdressers in the world use Tammy".
