Has anyone found another crossdresser while just out and about? Besides when you go to a LGBT bar or club, I figure it's pretty hard to find one, and I've never run into anyone by chance.

I was shopping in the San Francisco Union Square Macy's once when another CD came up to me. Imagine the odds of running into another TG in SF, huh? LOL
She said something along the lines of it was good to see other girls out and about. Basically a nice way of saying "haha, I clocked you." :D
a few times. my encounters have been less than encouraging, most queens are very competitive and catty.
Yes.
There's a senior full-timer in the town next to mine that I run into once in a while at the supermarket.
Yes, twice in the last 6 months. In Las Vegas last summer and in Pickering, Ont. at the Flea Market about 2 months ago.
I stopped in a small town in Missouri at a cafe about two years ago to grab a bite, and a man and women about fifty years of aged came in, both wearing a yellow tank top and yellow shorts and white with pink trim tennis shoes, pantyhose and his legs had no hair! As they sat he notice me and we spoke to each other! It felt nice!
Sadly...no.
Lately I have begun to realize how many of us vist Royal Oak MI, so evertime I am over there, even for the smallest thing ( mail ) I catch myself looking for others.
Almost every week that I shop for food. One of us works at the local Wally world.
I met a girl once when picking up a six pack of beers in the local mini store near me here in Concord. She was wearing a pants suit and about 2 inch heals. I just said hi and something about how everything is so expensive in that store, she smiled, and said yea really. Then I just went on my way.

Sure..I have bumped into others while out.Sometimes it is best with just an aknowledging polite smile..as some can get nasty if they think they are "undetectable" and you start conversation as Katrinakat said.
I have a few times, strangely enough. In Selfridges in Manchester, and a few times in Wakefield in the UK. I saw a couple with a CD in light makeup and a trouser suit. Great blonde hair and, but quite tall. Most passable was another girl in the local shopping centre who (IMHO) stuck out a little as she was in fairly light, white summer top and skirt and really thick black tights. I've also seen a CD when I was on holiday in Greece. She was with a GG and they looked N European, maybe Scandinavian. Again, she had on a lovely light dress and spoilt the look with really thick opaque tights. I do wish some of us read more magazines like Cosmo or Red to get some style ideas like that hosiery (especially opaque 100 denier) is not always a good part of an outfit LOL
I have been seriously keeping my eyes open for just such a sighting for the last 2 years and have seen no one.
I saw what I thought was a crossdresser once when I was walking around my neighborhood. I was way to say to say anything to her though. I also had one come into the 7-11 I worked at once, but again we didn't talk. She was really pretty too I always regretted not at least complimenting her.
I have seen and been seen twice this past week in OKC by two! Same store, one working, one shoping,as was I at Ross's.The clerk spotable. The shopper very definitely not, except for her wig and curousity about me. And I think she was as pretty as any I've seen. vivian fair
Nope, im rare bread here in no-mans land (and i dont go out dressed)
I am on the lookout but I guess I just cant pick them out.
Years ago there was a store that sold large Happy style pillows, they where thought to be cool, and where cheaper than furniture back then, Anyway the person that owned the store wore tee shirts, with tight skirts all the time, no attempt to pass, but some nice skirts. the store didn't last all that long unfortunately. I have also seen cross dresser at the mall from time to time. Even in this small town I live in now, I saw a crossdresser and her wife walking through the mall. Cheap shift, and bad hair, but they where dressed pretty much the same, and They seemed very happy.
Tina B.
No. I think we are an endangered species.
Years ago there used to be a girl that liked to sit out near the pool in my complex. She always wore a red satin can-can dress and held a doll. I saw her later in the same outfit riding a motor scooter down the street.
The other time I saw one of us, she was walking on the sidewalk as I drove by.
I have while out shopping at the malls, they also noticed me! It was totally wierd because I felt like I wanted to aproach thetm and say hello, introduce myself but it was like they had been totally caught or someting and couldn't get away fast enough. They had no interest in meeting new friends! It would have been cool to have a girlfriend to meet and go shopping with!
I have seen two.
Many years ago I was serving in a shop and a very nice looking elderly lady came in.
It was when I looked at her hands that I realized that she was a CD girl.
I would love to have complemented her on here looks.
In contrast to that, Two years ago a CD girl walked past me in town.
But I have to say she did not look good. I silly tight skirt and massive breasts. She looked awful.
A lessen there I think.
SUZY
I have seen several in public. Once at an adult bookstore there was a tall lady who said she was a male. But once at work the maintaince man and I dressed for a work funtion and he had his own clothes and shoes and admitted they were his. His wife is a lot larger than he is so I figured he was a crossdresser full time at home like me. Billie Jean
I get several hundred customers a day. A few CD's I know from a club frequent my store.
I still usually "clock" a couple of paople per month that I don't already know. I do "clock" a few in male mode too. Shaved arms, neat eyebrows, longer nails, a particular manner of talking........ there are lots of "tells".
But, if she is doing a great job, the very worst thing that can happen is to be "outed", even on the sly. And if she is in DRAB - what a scandal.
Oh, the dilemma. Do I try to reach out to fellow sister's. Or, do I let them go on their merry way thinking they got away with it yet again??????
It was just the other day I was walking outside a store and looked over to see this person looking at me through a store window. My first thought was "jeez, he - I mean she really is obvious. Look at those facial features, those big hands and look at........ " then it dawned on me it was my reflection. :weep: I guess we really are our own worst critics.
But other than that - not really. And I'm looking all the time. Not just for full blown CD in girl mode, but bra straps, minor make-up etc. I guess the Phoenix girls know how to do it right!
while working nightshift in supermarket,it was getting refurbished and I noticed one of the workmen was someone I met the previous week at my support group, was so funny each of us trying to ignore the other one and avoid eye contact,we met again the next meeting and had aright good laugh at how daft we had been.have seen CDer going into the lift at my flats, but didnt get chance to interact with her, mind you I havent the first clue how to initiate a converstion with another girl without scaring them off
:hugs:Sophie
It looks like our sisters are doing quite well! :D
I am one of those that is oblivious to those around me. Some say CDs will spot other CDs quicker, but that isn't true for me. I have seen one once at a gas station and that was probably because she was working the register. If she was on my side of the counter, I probably wouldn't have given her a second look. I also have seen two at my local Walmart, but what was odd was the two times were in a short time frame and they were both dressed in identical pink/white gym clothes with no wig but with a touch of make-up. I can't say I can discount that being an initiation of some sort. After the first time I thought I had seen another CD for the first time. After the second, I had my doubts.
I forgot about our nextdoor nieghbor when I was about 13. He came over fully dressed with his wife and put his arm around my dad. You should have seen the look on my dad's face. He had on a dress wig and pantyhose with pumps. Billie Jean
Like every night late in the morning in New Orleans. Come and visit us in the French Quarter.
URGH!!
No. I'm looking though...but given that I live in a Republican state, in a town with a bad reputation, maybe they're just really inconspicuous? Hm.
Well, if the statistics are to be believed, we all run into at least a couple of CDs every single day. Finding them when they're actually dressed en femme, that's much rarer. :)
I did see a teenage guy sampling some eyeshadows at Sephora when I was shopping with my wife a couple of years ago, but I got the impression that he was only playing along with the cadre of girls who were egging him on.
I was coming home in a train once the family had to take different seats as train was busy. I was seated on the aisle and then this woman came in and sat a few seats up from me. At first glance she fitted in fine. But on closer inspection something was ringing cd in my mind. The reason for this is it was middle of summer temp in mid 20's and she was wearing thick opaque tights and the mannerisms weren't quite right. Thats the only time I've seen a sister. By the way she was dressed lovely.
I have also run into a few cd's when I was out and about in Royal Oak and Ferndale. Given that that area is fairly accepting of the LGBT population it isnt shocking. I have not approached them because was not sure what there comfort level was. For me if anyone ever runs into me around town- give me a shout out!
I have seen a couple sisters out and about. Like a couple other posters have mentioned Royal Oak and Ferndale is where I have had most of my sightings. Ann Arbor is another area where I've seen my fellow TG's on the street.
I run into crossdressers and TG quite frequently I work in retail at a large mall and I am always on the lookout where I live I think it's quite common although I have yet to make friends with another CD but I'm afraid.
Nope, been out a few times but to very quiet places.
On my very first night out, I met a lady named Karen at a quiet bar in NYC. We chatted for some time it was really nice. It was a straight bar so it was quite a coincidence. The Second time I was in Brooklyn listening to a friend at his weekly piano gig. A drop dead gorgeous woman approached me and said "it is always nice to meet a sister" had she not spoken to me I wouldn't have known. We chatted briefly exchanged numbers and hugged. We text each other once in a while but haven't gotten together since. Both were wonderful experiences.
I was in NY last year for a race at Watkins Glen. We (guys on the team) and myself were at a local pup eating and a sister walked in at sat at the bar right next to our table. There were things I noticed that were tell tell to me. Some of the other guys though she was a crossdresser, others though she was a real GG. All the guys were good about it though, no ugly comments and such. I was surprised. I remember thinking, if I could look that good I would be out and about too :-)
I haven't yet. A while ago, somebody suggested wearing a rubber band on the left wrist as a secret way to put it out there. I wore one for a while every time I went out, but was never approached. If I did see a fellow sister out I'm not sure I'd approach her either. She could be out for the first time, nervous as hell, and freak if clocked. Others just might get offended. Ya never know. So I thinl I'll just pass by with a smile and nod. If you notice a rubber band on my wrist. Say hi, I'd love to make a friend.
I have no fear of shopping in drab and was at Goodwill awhile back, looking at ladies dresses. Another male walked in and started looking at the dresses on the other end. I stood in place until he/she saw me and he wheeled around and left in a hurry. I have meet other cd's at prearranged times and places.
BAD: "HEYY!! GREAT JOB OF TRANSFORMATION! NO-ONE WOULD KNOW!!" or "HEY! GREAT TO SEE ANOTHER ONE OF US!!" or "You look great, can't see any beard-shadow"
OK: "I love your dress" or "those are great shoes" or "they have such great stuff at this store" or "that eye-shadow works for you" ( I've said that last one to a GG before, while in boy-mode )
I love this question! It came up a while back and it got killed as a "spot the tranny" attack. I think this is really important. I find comfort from spotting CDs who are making it all work.
I would love to be a beacon and get out and lead, but my work stops me from doing this. But what is wrong in spotting us?
Now there are a couple of points here. You don't see anyone.. so we are a rare breed? Or have you just missed people who managed to blend? I suspect at least 80% of us do not go out? (Pareto here)
I have seen a few, and yes they stood out to me. One was just so tall, she attracted attention anyway, but nobody else (and I was looking!) seemed to behave any differently than you would expect... ie no-one seemed to look. I then saw too sisters dressed in short denim skirts and heels at a time when when NO women were wearing these. So they stood out and then once you are looking, you start to read them. I was awful, I followed them for a long time.. but again, they got no unusual reactions from the general public.
More recently I have see a few in a local Sainsburys in the summer, but I live in a tourist area... and again, their interactions drew no attention, even thoiugh I was convinced!
Something that worries me a lot, as I do tranny hunt daily in order to understand how I might get the confidence to go out more... is I don't see many. But I do see a lot of women who could be read as men if they wore the right clothing... Aaaargh.. I am talking about getting older Here!
I have seen a few while out and about. Two summers ago I saw two within a few days of each other. The second one I saw was very obvious because he had long hair with little girl ribbons in it and a full beard! No attempt to hide what he really was. He had a very short denim mini-skirt on with red and white stockings. Yucky! (sorry, didn't mean to possibly offend anyone).
The second lady was presenting as a true lady. Older, well made up and exceptionally dressed. She also had a voice to die for! Tried to get close enough to introduce myself as a sister but I think I scared her off.
I've seen two other women at our local grocery store that probably gave themselves away because of their flambouyancy.
On another shopping trip to Milwaukee I saw a young girl all dressed up. She looked really scared and nervous. I didn't want to add to her discomfort so I didn't try communicating with her.
I've also noticed a few driving around in their cars over the years.
There was a paranoid-Schizophrenic-homeless person that was always dressed in women's clothing walking around downtown. No, I never talked to this person. I'd watch from the bus stop as she'd pick up used cigarette butts off the street and loudly mutter something incoherent to herself, arms flailing in the air chasing off imaginary birds or something. I also seen another one of our own at a local fast food joint. Wild wig, made her 5' 6" frame go over 6' 6"! Unfortunately she wasn't very convincing and everyone was staring at her. You could hear the comments and it wasn't good. I felt real bad for her.
ginger
I can't be sure if they were crossdressers or not, but I saw one guy buying womens clothes and lingerie at one of my favorite second hand thrift stores while he was in male mode. I believe the clothing was for him because he came out of a fitting room holding them. Another time I had to pick up a package from my local FedEx terminal. When I entered the terminal office there were two girls working the front desk and one of them looked and sounded like she could have been a trans girl. Unfortunately, I didn't have the courage to ask either person their gender orientation.
While getting coffee in a Waffle House my g/f spotted a CD'er.
She spotted something in her pants, I never look at a guy or girls crotch area, but women do, she said I do an excellent job of "tucking' and this gurl needed advice.
I had several CD freindships many years ago where I met other CD's socially and we were able to figure eachother out and develope it into a freindship. I met someone today who was wearing women's boots,a pink top, women's slacks and shoulder length bleached blonde hair. We hit it off very nicely so this makes it the third or forth time I met another CD socially.
Maybe 3-4 years ago. I was driving home from Topeka, KS and I noticed a blonde woman sitting outside of a porn shop. I decided to turn around and check out the shop, just to make sure it was following OSHA standards of course. I park and as I'm walking to the front of the store I see the woman scrambling to get in her car. I just catch a glimps of a very muscular calf as I'm passing by. When I come back out she is still sitting in the car and I briefly see her face which confirms that it was indeed a man. Looked like Niles from Fraiser in a blonde wig, lol. I got really excited and wanted to say something but it was night and considering he/she avoided me when I got there I figured I'd better just go.
There was one other time years ago, maybe a decade or so. I was working fast food at the time and two transmen or crossdressers came in. Not really sure, they looked like to two elderly women in male clothes with male haircuts. One of them had a pretty poor excuse for a beard. I didn't want to stare so I'm unable to say for sure if they were trans or just two normal people ><.
I have seen another dresser a few times when I go to the mall or such. I don't approach them because I don't want to embarrass them. There was also a TS working at a local grocery store for a while, but I was always en drab and again I didn't want to embarrass them (or scare them being en drab.) There is also another crossdresser who is well known in my town, but they are a mentally disturbed individual (and dress to shock) and I was told not to approach her.
An interesting story, once I was at a "tolerant", formerly gay, club for a party. I went with a TS friend of mine. We were all having a good time, and a TS friend of hers came up, started talking to her, then noticed me and then left. It turns out they were FT and "stealth", didn't think I passed at all, and were afraid to be seen with me and people there figuring out she was not a GG. It really hurt my feelings, even though I guess there is some validity in there somewhere. It is one reason I do not approach other TV/TS folks when dressed in the general public, lest I "out" them by approaching them.
Have you ever found another crossdresser while out and about? Yes but I looked prettier than her :P Kidding...she was hot (too).
