My first day at work
This past Thursday after much thought and talking with my HR people as well as coming out to many
coworkers I decided it was time to be full time Rachael at work. I recieved a lot of nice words and
complements. I never really expected this to happen just a year or so ago. Yet the more things began
to come together the more I knew it was time to stop hiding myself. I had began wearing makeup at
work for about a month and this now seemed the natural progression.
I'm very fortunate to work for a company that is very LGBT friendly and they have been most helpful.
A lot ahead for me but I just need to go one step at a time.
I've attached a couple of pictures of my outfit on my first work day as Rachael

Congratulation Rachael, A major step on becoming yourself. .
-
Congratulations Rachael! What a huge step for you. It must be nice to be able to really be yourself. Good luck!
-
Congratulations Rachel. I'm really pleased for you and really glad it went well. How fantastic for you to be yourself and present as a woman at work everyday.
-
It is wonderful when you can wear the clothing you want to, especially to work! Very nice.
-
Good for you! Nice pics ;)

Let me add my congratulations Rachael. How nice that you have such understanding employers and co workers.

Way to go! See how those "one step" at a time accomplishments lead somewhere that seem like big leaps. Keep up the good work.
-
Awesome! Congrtulations! I totally admire the folks who come out in a corporate setting. I was self-employed when I started coming out and I don't think that requires as much day-to-day bravery.
-
Congrats! You are braver than I am! Best wishes Hugs Lana Mae
-

Rachel:
While I only know of you through CD.COM, allow me to offer my heartfelt congratulations to you for having the courage to live your life authentically, and let me say that I am proud of you for doing so! Way to go. Help the rest of us by relating the good, the bad, and the ugly --- tell us what works well and what doesn't.
Dallas, Texas must be a tough place to do that-- wishing you the best.
Rhonda.

-
How wonderful for you to be able to be yourself.
-
Congratulations! It takes a lot of guts to come out at work. But you looked great doing it.
-
AWESOME!!! You are living "our" dream. But...... how much longer does it take to get ready for work !!
-
Rachel,
This is welcome news - not that you've come out, but that you seem so happy about it. I know that you must have wrestled with this endlessly, so it's good to hear that you have made the leap and have landed on your feet, smiling. May the rest of your journey go at least as well.
Huge hugs,
Kelly
-
Thats a big step. Congrats
I had walked into work a few times wearing a skirt and blouse but I have a uniform I am required to wear during working hours. One coworker was seen me in my fem clothing and has no problem with it. We both go into the mens locker room and change into our uniform. I hope to get to the point that I can leave after work in my fem clothes. Most everyone in the building would see me then so it may be awhile before I am ready to make that step.

I want to say I'm so overwhelmed by you ladies and your support, of course I already knew this was the case here but again thank you so much.
This week is going to be my first full week and it will be a challenge, this was by far no easy decision but it seems like the
right one. Still being called by male name a lot but at some point I will try and make it known I prefer Rachael.
Everyone at my work is either very suppotive or in some cases kinda confused lol but mostly they are saying if I'm happy
then you have to do what you have to do.
Thanks again all you ladies are so special
Blessings Rachael
Oh and yes getting ready does take a little more time but not really as much as I expected

I don't suppose you could have wished for a better outcome! accepted at work the world is at your feet now, take it now for that it is worth and enjoy your new life to the full. Congratulations to you for having achieved so much and a big plus for the LGBT movement as a whole.
-
Sorry I'm late with this.....I am very proud to call you a friend! I know the path here was not an easy one (never is).
