Something new happened to me this week

I got caught by my dear wife for the first time while dressed enfemme.

Maybe a little back-story is needed before I go on. I admitted to her oh so many years ago that I crossdressed. That was in the mid-1970s. Since then I've accepted this as a DADT arrangement. Anyway in the past my jobs allowed me time out of town to express my "gender variance". Now that we are both retired and home together most of the time such opportunities are few and far between. Fortunately I have a hobby that needs a room of its own and one where I'm rarely bothered. I'm able to spend a couple of hours most days dressed and being Gigi. It really helps!

Well, Monday I was dressed to the nines, shapewear, forms, body-hugging dress, jewelry, heels and wig. I was "primping" in front of a full-length mirror when I heard that dreaded knock at the door. I call out, "What do you need?" My wife knows that this means I'm busy with a project and don't want to be disturbed. But not this time! She opens the door and sees me in all of my Gigi-ness. All I could say was, "Hi". She looked at me and the first words out of her mouth were, "You're gorgeous!" The words came out as positive, not sarcastic or negative in any way. All I could say was, "Thanks". Then she said something like this. "If this is what you want to be and it makes you happy then do it. I don't care how you look. I love you any way you come". Then she came to me an gave me a big long hug and said, "I love you." I of course hugged her back and said that I loved her, too. After the hug she just started in telling me about all of the plums and tomatoes from the garden that she had prepped and frozen. It was just like a normal conversation. I couldn't believe it then and still can't now. How many years have I worried about being caught and how she would react. I think it was because I was afraid that I would lose her love. Now I know differently!

Do you feel like this is going to open a new chapter in your life, or will things just return to normal? It might be a good opportunity but old habits die hard.

That is great!. My wife has always been acepting. Good look to you just don't push it too fast.

I am so glad things went well. I will still say baby steps are best.

Georgia, terrific story and a terrific wife. As to the comment of a wasted fifty years, I would venture a guess Georgia's wife evolved over those fifty years. When newly married a wife may think "Wha? Who is this guy?" or something similar. I think it takes time for spouses to get to know each other.

Now, you need to do something nice for your wife. Take her to dinner, flowers, or just do the housework and let her sleep in! BUT, don't boast about it, just do it.

Thank all you for your kind comments. I'm sure she knew I was still crossdressing but just didn't want to embarrass me. It would be very hard to hide this activity for that long! Like I wrote, DADT. Yes, she is a gem. Yes, I plan to go slow and let her process everything. When it comes to our life together all I can think of is the title to one of Paul Simon's songs: Still crazy after all these years.:love:

This is only the second thread I have looked at today ,both positive references in regards to relationships. Part of what I keep hidden is my emotions,and I cannot lie, I have tears in my eyes right now. May this be the start of a wonderful new chapter in your lives.

Wow Georgia what a great story. May I add how lucky you are with her reaction and acceptance, even though she knew you did dress. Kudos to you and your wife for handling things so maturely and calmly.

Great story, Gigi! Thank you for sharing. Please don't take this as carte blanche to wander around the house dress, but maybe your wife will be a little more welcoming to seeing you en femme. Let her take the lead on how much she wants to interact with you while you are dressed as Gigi!

Good for you, Gigi! This is what we all want, for sure! It would not have played out this way unless you had lovingly attended to other parts of your relationship. Please update us after a bit to let us know how things are going?

I truly envy you, Gigi.

I've been married for 51 years now, and my own "outing" experience (also back in the 1970's) was far different from yours. I was in our basement recreation room trying on a new pair of heels (but otherwise in drab) late one night and long after I thought my wife had gone to sleep when she suddenly appeared out of nowhere at the top of the stairs. Upon seeing me in my heels, she promptly fainted. It's been DADT ever since, and continuing to move at glacial speed with only the occasional (yet fleeting) glimmer of acceptance.

Since it took you 50 years, maybe there is still some hope for me - LOL!
