thinking about how to come out to my mom

so recently I've been thinking a lot about how to come out to my mom. Telling people personal things about myself is very difficult but I feel I really should do this sometime soon as I've really started to move forward with transitioning.
Telling her problably wouldn't be a complete surprise I pretty sure she knew I was going through her clothes when I was a teenager and she has already asked me about if I had seen a doctor about my breast growth. I just put if off as nothing back then.
Now my mom is 78 years old but she is a real feminist. She has written books about women's roles in the modern church and has often spoke out against the way church regards women even today. I think she would understand.
I think I will write a letter and just put it all out there. I've started to see a gender therapist so I might show it to her first for any ideas.

My dad is 76 and is a misogynist and a homophobe. After few years, he is at the point he doesn't bother me about me being trans, which is fine. At least we can talk and see each other and I don't have to think how I look.
