    deeper voice

Hey guys, I was browsing through the other day and a voice deepening thread caught my eye.... anyways I wanted pass on what I know. This may or may not work for you and it might be kind of unrealistic if you dont have somewhere to be really loud. Anyways so I was in the marines and you have to go through boot camp where you literally have to scream as loud as you possibly can everytime you speak, if you dont then you get hazed. I was in bootcamp for 3 months just to get an idea and I probably lost my voice like 3 times through the whole ordeal. So basically what happends is you totally destroy your vocal cords to the point where when you try to speak nothing comes out. It's harsh and you'll get a bad soar throat from it but when your voice restores itself and it will you will have a noticeably deeper more booming voice, you will be louder. So thats my experience anyway and I hope it helps, my problem is that now I have to reverse the effects!

Wow, thank you, Kerry, that is awesome information and may be helpful to a lot of guys on the board....It was very nice of you to post it....Those of us who are on T go through the same voice change that young boys do and it gets a LOT deeper, but not all of us are on T....and, for those of us who are on it, that might be a good exercise to help us strengthen or further deepen it....Come visit us again in this section, we love having you.....

I've noticed when I scream/ shout nothing comes out. I lose my voice instantly or it's like a pathetic little squeak then nothing else in which case I need to clear my throat as if to restart my voice. It's quite hilarious.

However, I was also told by the specialist that if I try and prematurely force my voice deeper in a traumatic manner, I could easily “snap” my vocal cords because it’s too much pressure. Which obviously means I wouldn’t be able to talk [ever again? I don’t know cause I wasn’t listening…impatience…I wanted my injection]. My speech therapist said “go with the flow” and do my vocal exercises [which I don’t do] softly and slowly.

I don’t know, I guess it all depends how long you’ve been on T for.

    Thanks for your input

Just something about voices, not sure if it is helpful at all and just something I noticed about myself.

When i normally talk as a male and do sound like one, it is like the voice is coming from the lower part of my throat, it seems when the air that produces the sound comes from there it gives it that 'grrr' sound that makes it sorta strong and a bit broken. When I talk and sorta force it to come from the top, it gives it a high pitch without the broken noise and its also smoother, I sound more feminine or thats what I can guess since some people mistake me for a woman over the phone. Im sorry if what I said was vague or not helpful, just hoping maybe the reverse could work for you guys. Its just hard to describe it and takes a lot of practice.

Good luck to all of you, it can be done, it just needs hard work so dont give up.

Thanks, ashcrimson! I get what you mean; it's that throatier growl in your voice rather than the softness.

You guys rock! I'm practicing my voice softening (I think thats what its called?) on my way to and from work and when I get home in my room and I just bought one of those chromatic sound recorder thingies. I'm definitley not giving up on it, I'm really determined to get it perfect.
