Hi everybody, iv been crossdressing many years but only recently since iv got my own place have i started doing it almost everyday.
Thing is i own a fair few items of clothes now and i think im ready to take crossdressing further.

Any suggestions where to go next?

Im guessing make-up or a wig or both could help me expand my crossdressing though im quite unsure.

I joined a support group, run by a gg. Shhe taught me how to dress, make up and guided me in buying a wardrobe. Also, gave me the opportunity to meet and socialize with other cd's, tvs and ts's.

Most important gave me the confidence to go out as my fem self. Mainly, be yourself and enjoy..

oh i'd definitely recommend getting a wig and makeup....usually for most CDs the first time they get all dolled up with the wig and take a glance at the mirror they get blown away! well at least it was for me....

having spent the weekend having a long hard think about this i think i will venture into make up, where to start with that is the next problem lol.

with regards to wigs has anybody used clip in hair extensions as these seem cheaper?

My advice to save money is if you know of a make over specialist , and you are ready, to go pay them a visit . At the begining I threw £s away trying to get the look I wanted . The biggest mistakes were obviously the make up and wig . Only thru costly trial and error am I now at a happy-ish place . A make over wil also help in anyway should you need to cover the signs of a beard . I think once you have the right shade balance and type of foundation can you move foward . And once a wig has been correctly chosen for facial shape and again colour , you can then order online ( ebay is a trannies godsend ) and slowly style yourself further . The clothes , shoes ect are quite easy to match . Once youre happy , with these basic measures you can look towards the question of body hair removal ( once you,ve shaved you're legs and worn hose or stockings you,ll never look back ) and decide on the biggest and prolly most expensive one off payment towards that final female look . Breast forms and the art of creating cleveage .
All those years ago , when we all first started , it seems now like we're almost like a different people . It used to take ages to look enfemme but now thankfully with the basic foundations in place the rest falls into place . Like I say , if you know of a makeover place , and are able to , go visit . If not , then look at Dermablend for foundation at least . They have a trial pack with lots of shade you may wanna try to get a pigment balance to youre skin .Buy a make up selection box / pad for eye shadow ect , and a red lippy . masscarra , in black and an eyeliner pencil - again in black . Go for the cheap stuff - then practise like mad , look how other girls on here , or in magazines for inspiration / ideas . But , go minimal , slowly build up on it . Theres one thing that can be really good fun , on the trials and error on putting on make up is pose in a mirror ..... and i dont mean this in any way to be cruel , I hope you,ve a sense of humour . I,ve looked at early pictures of me , and my god , the only difference is Ronald McDonald works for a fast food outlet !!! As for wigs , theyre easy to buy on ebay , I use a shop on there called Fumis wigs .
Above all , have fun , enjoy yourself and when the times ready ( and hopefully you,ll feel the same ) post a pic or two on here ... I,m sure every girls looking foward to seeing you ........

thanks for the advice. im quite confident with my outfit (i go for rock chick) its just everything else. With regards to a make over specialist i wouldnt know who to go to, and if i did id want them to be 'cd friendly' ideally though would them to come to me. I have thought about breast forms aswell, though agai not sure which ones to buy as they are quite expensive

The best advice for a fast track to finding what is possible is to visit a good dressing agency. But, since you don't give a location, it's hard for anyone to make suggestions as to where you might go?

I agree with Michelle. You need to visit a makeover specialist to get help with makeup and wig styles. There are plenty in the UK. You can Google "UK Makeover TG" or "TG Transformation UK".

I'm sure there are plenty of ladies here that can recommend specific services in the UK.

Once you have settled on makeup and a wig, then a full outfit will complete the package.

My suggestion is exactly as you stated: You need a wig and makeup! If you're comfortable in public, you could go up to a makeup counter and just ask in any department store! Look for a younger attendant, I think that will help a lot! But just ask the usual questions: What are my colors, what can I do to help hide/accentuate (insert your particular concerns here, ie cheekbones, jawline, eyes, nose...), how do I apply (if you don't know), etc...

As for wigs, well, my line of thinking, and what I'll need to do if my hair hasn't grown out enough by summer (though it should!), is just go pick out a cheap wig in a preferred color. Then look up tips or even ask how to put it on correctly and the like.

Once you have that, well, just pick out an outfit, get some girlfriends together, and go have fun.

Erm, female hairdressers do it all the time! Why wouldnt make up artists?

I have a very good friend who is a mobile hairdresser and she works on the basis that when visiting a client she lets someone know where she is and who she is with and for how long. She is very vigilant when it comes to safety. A lot of her clients are known, but some are recommended and some answer an ad.

Back on topic The advice to get someone to help do your make-up is sound. It is very difficult to DO your own make-up in the beginning. You cannot get an appreciation of how tones match or colours blend.

As scary as it might sound, the best people to seek are the counter girls in places that specialise in make-up. They have the training and knowledge we desire and they are more than willing to help you given half a chance. If you are worried about approaching one, think of it this way. Will you ever see them again?

I have had some invaluable advice from some of these girls with regards to foundations, concealers, etc etc. Just remember, regular guys wear make up too. So you dont even need to go into the femme side. Plus, if you buy a product from them the chances are you will get some freebies to take with to try

Buying Wigs can be an expensive game of hit and miss. If you have access to a computer though you can help reduce that risk by doing the following. It requires a limited knowledge of photo editing. Take a head shot of yourself, passport style, and import it onto your comp. Do a google search for female haircuts or go to somewhere like this site and check how you look in various styles, shapes, colours etc. Then order one that you look good in.

Nicki, as I mentioned, I have a friend who does this very thing (mobile hairdresser) and she has friends/colleagues who do the same. I'm not saying you aren't right, but if things were as bad as you are eluding to they (all girls) would not be in business. Every endeavour carries a risk, it is how you manage that risk that determines how successful you endeavour will be.

It is things like this that adds weight to the argument (or maybe it helps perpetuate the perception) that if you choose to be different there must be something wrong with you

Look at the posts on here as an example. There are more positive threads/posts about going out dressed and interacting with people than there are negative. What should we derive from that? However, if you get one negative thread/post suddenly the world seems a darker/creepier place.......Why?

I'd guess it might have something to do with the current craving for sensationalistic journalism. If so, we are all to blame cause if we didn't buy the crap they wouldn't keep publishing it

go to a reputable wig shop and get yourself a high quality wig. Yes, it costs more up front, but is much cheaper in the long run. You will get years of pleasure with a quality wig you were able to try on and see the possibilities before buying. Makeup is the next step and it will take awhile to get good at it (i am still trying!). But the first time you see yourself with a pretty wig, some lipstick, mascara and rouge you will be amazed at how good you look! From there, it just gets better and better.

I am just like you. I have my own place and live on my own and so I have a lot of freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want.
If you want to take your crossdressing beyond the comforts of your own home, then think about going out as your feminine self.
But first, you definitely need to get the right wig and learn to apply makeup.
While you're doing that, learn how to develop your fashion sense and feminine presentation.
The best people to learn from are women because they are the experts on femininity since they've been doing it all their life.
Whenever you're out, be observant and pay attention to every detail in how they walk, talk, carry themselves, and how they dress.
It'll take time, but if you put your mind to it and practice practice practice you'll have your presentation down pat and be ready to go out in public.
