    Washing the Boy Off

Wow, what a "macho" week I've had! I'm in the military and this week was training for a major exercise. I've spent the entire week wearing chemical warfare gear and a gas mask, sitting in bunkers eating MREs, carrying a weapon, using macho radio call signs like "Reaper One, Skull Five, Maverick" and the like. It's been an unending stream of listening to others spew sexually-inappropriate humor - some of it directed at me since I'm my unit's "Designated Female" (the actual term rhymes with "designated witch" ).

After a week like that, I really needed to "wash the boy off" so to speak.

I came home, stripped off my stinky uniform, and gratefully sank into a steaming hot scented bubble bath. Heaven!! Out came my waxing kit and I proceeded to do my chest, underarms, hands, feet and arms. I then rubbed about a quart of wonderfully scented lotion into my skin and slipped into a comfy (but cute!) nightgown. I touched up my brows and did a mini facial. Looking in the mirror, I looked a little, . . . bare. So, I added a little eye makeup (just because I felt like it).

I then worked on my toe and fingernails. After doing my cuticles and filing and buffing the nails, I added a coat of Suzy Sells Sushi by the Seashore for the toes and a coat of matte for the fingernails.

I now have the laptop in bed with me, writing this. My nose is filled with the scent of girl - lotion, nail polish, moisturizer, . . . and utter contented happiness.

My oh my, I love being able to do this! I love being able to let go of the typical male mindset and allow myself to be pampered. How about you? What gets your girl on?

That's not acceptable, not in civilian life and not in the military. Even I know the military has rules about sexual harassment, which is what that is. I'd probably say, "Keep that talk up and you'll end up with an entrenching tool or live M203 or M320 round shoved up your ass, so belay that shit soldier!

After a week like that, I really needed to "wash the boy off" so to speak.
Are you a boy? By your own admission you're the "Designated Female" of your unit, though I'm not for certain what you mean by that, and you're a member of the "Gorgeous Gossip Patrol" at your church, right?

So you're leaking "femme" at least.

Veronica - I was once in the army and I tell you - it is a hyper-masculine environment. Lewd crude jokes or comments are of no shortage, especially in the field. I think it is something they put in the MRE's

Gets my girl on - Well it is not really clothing or anything so much as it is when I get called "ma'am" or someone takes me for a woman. THAT is my high.

When Kathi is not in BDU's, carrying an M-16, and screaming at her troops to get moving or yelling "gas gas gas" and making sure they are getting in MOPP 4, she is luxuriating in femme things
    Only in the TG community....

Ya know, when I was in, alright I made a whopping E-3 but I would have been kind of scared to call a higher ranking a "designated female".
Maybe I actually had some respect for what was on the collar.

Well Kathi, with us, you don't have to be the NCO or whatever you are, for you are our sister here.

I love just sitting in a tub filled with fragrant bubble bath and running a razor up my legs, making my legs smooth again and then drying off and applying body lotion all over. On my face, I put mosturizer and eye cream.
That really brings me back to my femme self.

First of all, to all you military and ex-military folks, I also extend my heartfelt and too-often-delayed thanks to you. Yours is too often a thankless job, but know that you *are* loved and appreciated, even if the rest of us don't always say so out loud. God bless you all!

Secondly, Kathi, your "wash off" sounds heavenly. Reading your words, I could feel your stress floating down the drain with the dirt and MREs. I think we can all use moments like that sometimes.

Kathi, you are so right! I hadn't thought of it as washing the boy off, but the little rituals we have so stimulate all the senses in a way that boys just don't experience. The scents, the feel of silks and nylons, the weight of breasts, the heels, the walk, the change of body language, the change of voice...it's just so relaxing, even with all the tension around making sure makeup is just so and nails are shiny and feel so good on the lips!

It really does have the same feeling as sinking into a hot tub for a good soak!

Thanks for the image! (and thanks for all you do in the military!)

In a hyper-masculinized environment like the military-- especially on manouvres-- one would only be making matters worse for oneself by trying to take any sort of stand against lewd or crude chatter. Sometimes a girl has to know when it's in her best interests to let it pass.

    Kathi,

1- I used to work around cops all the time and some of the behavior was the same as what you describe here. Getting home and insulating myself from that with smells, colors and softer clothing was always a treat that helped me regain my balance.

2- It sounds like you are in a difficult enviornment when doing that military thang. I think you probably deserve additional pay for the sacrifice and higher level of responsiblitiy and danger you assume. Wait, that's probably part of the "Don't ask, Don't tell, Don't pay" part of the system, right?

Thanks Kathi Lake, as many of the others have stated. Thank you for your service to our country. And helping us have the freedom to live in our lives the way we want too.

And once off duty, you have every right to live your life the way you want too. Soaking in a scented tub is one of my favorite stress relievers after a hard day working. Whether going for girly mode or just to calming down.

I know that a week of what you did, I would be jumping at the chance to unwind in our special way. Doesn't it feel good to open up our other side scenes. Smell, touch, sight, and oooouuuuiiiiieeeee!!!

Well, the talk has reduced quite a bit from the 70's and 80's- especially in mixed company! It is a kinder, gentler military.

Am I a boy? Certainly! Yes, I have been accepted into the GGP at church as "one of them" and I am my unit's "designated girl" (duties include making sure peple who transfer out get a nice memento/framed squadron photo, organizing and cooking for the end-of trip barbecues, and other things too "girly" for most guys to think about). Do I "leak" femme? Heck, I gush femme! In an age of don't ask, don't tell, they don't ask, and I don't tell - not that I would answer in the affirmative for that question. When I titled the post, Washing the Boy Off, I meant it in the sense of washing off the stink, the funk, the macho, the mindset of what the world sees as manly, and immersing myself in things that center me - bringing me back to where I feel I belong - not a girl, but definitely girly.

"Leaking Femme", that's a really great one Veronica!!!

I guess that's another way to describe those clues we invariably leave in our wake.

Very nice post Kathi. I'm betting you had the anticipation of the "wash the boy off" routine in the back of your mind the entire week. Not that you couldn't focus on your task at hand but the noise in the background rarely fades completely.

I actually use a daily skincare regimine as my little way to "put the girl on" every day. Helps with my coping and it has the side effect of being really good for the skin as well.

And finally, I have to thank you along with the rest for your millitary service. Not everyone has what it takes to serve in such a manner and you are so deserving of gratitude for helping to keep our great country free and safe. Not to mention it adds such an entertaining angle to some of your threads!!!

I just came away from posting in a thread where a guy thought that woman find CDer's creepy. Well, I just got creeped out! What a dichotomy you're, sir (or siress). Lol. I bet you really really enjoyed to be clean after all that! I'm not man enough to put myself up to it. You're a better man than I. I'd be the butt of jokes, that's for sure. Or the guy that would have to do all the grunt work. Lol.

How do you reconcile your lady self with your man self?

Not to detract from the very serious work you must have been involved in. While it might have been a training exercise and completely imaginary, it's very real and I'm sure the weight of it all must hit you sometimes.

I hope your training never has to be used

Ah so yet another person in the military. From the lingo you used I take it you're in the air force? Personally I'm in the army. What Kathi failed to mention is after a week in the field it takes about 3 baths to scrub all the dirt off. Not to mention the smell, bleh! I don't exactly bleed femme but I have slipped up every now and then and gotten a weird look or two. I know what you're going through first hand Kathi. Life in the military as a cd is certainly a difficult one.

On a different note, I wish I had a bathtub. Being stationed overseas means government quarters for single people. I have to get a hotel room just to get a decent bath. What's a girl gotta do for a bubble bath these days?
Beware the pink fog..........oh what the hell enjoy it. I know I certainly am!

    Hi
Your Army story reminded me of one of mine. Here it is:

In 1968 I was in the Army and stationed in Bien Hoa Vietnam. I was 19yrs old. Guys were coming back from Tapei Formosa from their R&R and telling stories of their time there. They told of these bars you would go to and pick out a girl and sign a contract and she was your escort for your time there. As soon as I heard about it I knew what I was going to do. I was going to pick out a girl that was the same size as me or bigger, well you know the rest. Well my dream never happened. Shortly before I was supposed to leave for R&R I was injures and sent to a hospital in Japan. That event probally changed my life big time. I got home and met my future wife and Terri went into the closet for a number of years.

    Yours Terri

    Hi

when I was in the military, we went and did our thing in the chem suits, they are hot and stinky and filed with charcoal. I was also eating MREs and carrying my M-16. The gas masks are a pain in the face and other places as well. when the exercises were over i would go home and take a hot shower for as long as i could so yes i washed the boy off also, For those of us that were in the military we now how MACHO it is.So Kathi you go girl. Thanks for serving your country.
    I love being a girl

Ahhhhhhhhh.....I know what you mean Kathi. There's nothing I like better than popping into the shower, shaving everywhere, lotioning up, and bringing Miranda out for the evening. Just wash away the whole day away...and it feels great!

Everyone has their own magic elixirs to get into the "girl groove." For me, it is scents. As you have seen in my pictures, I have been blessed with a humongous schnozz. As a result, I have a better sense of smell than some dogs! Scents have the ability to trigger the strongest emotions and memories of any of the senses. Smells bring me back to good times in my life, focus my mind for future tasks, and overall bring me a sense of peace and femininity. I probably have more scented bubble baths and lotions than many women!

Sara, that's a great way to put it. You know how when a beautiful woman passes by, your whole body tenses in her wake? I breathe in her smell, I breathe in her femininity, I study all that makes her the gorgeous woman she is, so I can emulate that. After doing that for so long, my wife has started to notice both subtle and not so subtle feminine behaviors in me. Sometimes she'll tell me to use a bit less arm swing or to stop walking "prettier" than her. So yes, I do leak, ooze, and otherwise gush femininity.

On the anticipation, oh did I ever anticipate!! I kept thinking of the smells and the sensory pleasures that would be mine after I spent just another several hours in a gas mask. People were wondering why I was smiling and humming in the bunker. I do the same thing before a girly day, I go around with a gentle smile and and am singing in my head (at least I hope it's only in my head ), I get to be a girr-rllllll!

What a dichotomy we all are - and a wonderful one at that! As I have said, I love being a guy. When the urge strikes though, I thoroughly enjoy dressing up as prettily as I can and enjoying the finer, more delicate, and frilly things in life. How do I reconcile that? Easy - I do what I do because it is fun and I love it! Simple. With me there is no "I'm part woman and part man" - I'm simply all me.

Yup! 29 years in the AF so far, with about three or so more to go. You are right on the scrubbing. I almost wanted to use a Brillo pad to scrub the filth and charcoal off from the chem suit and the general funk. That's one reason I put a coat of polish on my nails - the black stuff is still in some of the nail ridges and just looked icky!

    Kathi,

As an old Navy veteran (Korea), I thank you for your service to our country!

And as another crossdresser who does it for the fun of it, I totally understand your delight in scubbing the "gunk" off with a delightful bubble bath. I used to do the same thing when my ship and I returned from a long cruise to the Far East. Of course, I had to go to a hotel to do it as I was living with my Aunt and Uncle at the time and they did not know I was a CD.
    (Parents had died years ealier!)

A nice bubble bath is pure bliss! And then you put on a silky nightgown.........!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
