    Recent Travel Experience

Until the first time I traveled with my "femme gear", I scoured this board for "travel threads"... specifically wondering what I could and couldn't get away with in my carry-on... (I didn't like the idea of checking my bag with my forms in it in case my bag was lost, misplaced etc) Anyway, I thought I would share a recent travel experience in hopes that it will encourage others to not be afraid to bring their other self with them when they travel

First off, on my way out of town, I threw in all my femme clothes and in particular my silicone forms into my carry on... (even though I'm out to my wife, I'm way too closeted to travel en-femme at this point)... made it through security without as much as a raised eyebrow....

I always worry about the hotel cleaning people "going through my stuff" so I just got one of those TSA approved locks and keep that on my suitcase, and as often as not, I'll leave the do not disturb sign on my door at the hotel and just call the desk if I need fresh towels or whatever... solves that problem.

On the way back, my bag did get picked out for a double check... but I just casually mentioned to the bag checker that it might be a little "embarassing" and could he please be discreet with all the other folks around... he said no problem and offered (very politely) a private screening (which was just in a nearby break-room nothing fancy or scary)... anyway, they opened my bag and quickly went through it and when he came across the forms he nodded ascent and with a friendly smile said, "nope, haven't seen those before!" They zipped the bag back up and told me to have a great day.

(My bag had in fact been screened another time where they just opened it right then and there and had a good chuckle at what they found, but didn't say anything directly to me or make a big deal about it... they didn't hold them up for public viewing or anything.)

Anyway the point of this thread is that I have discovered that it's really pretty easy to travel with your femme stuff if you simply don't worry about it... no one in TSA cares, no one knows you, and they have much bigger fish to fry (and generally a long @$$ line behind you to worry about.)

I used to HATE travelling since I was too afraid to bring my forms with me, and I hated not having them... but now even though I'd still rather be at home with the family... the trips aren't as bad

I hope this helps at least ONE person out there get up the guts to take all your stuff with you on your next trip!!

Glad you enjoy traveling now. Maybe some day you'll go fully dressed.

The best place to hide your breast forms is in a bra . . .
    under a sweater . . .
    that you're wearing.

You are learning that most people do not give a rat's patoot about what we have in our luggage. The TSA agent is only concerned about exploding suitcases, the hotel maid only wants her shift to end and hopes you leave a decent tip.
It takes a real man to wear a dress.

VSfan...I love to hear stories of the various strategies adopted by those stuck with "life on the road".

I too, used to be very nervous about bag checks and hotel staff every week. That was before 9/11, but it was still a constant concern.

Being involved in the security industry and somewhat of a germafobe when on the road made life interesting.

I would check a carry-on at the curb with my "clothes briefcase" inside, to avoid bag checks. When I checked into my room, I had a 15-20 minute "ritual" I carried out to "settle in" for the week.

"do not disturb" sign on door with a follow-up confirmation call to housekeeping. Alarm on door, hand sanitizer wipe of surfaces/phone/remote, etc. Bedspread ditched into closet (yuck!!), luggage secured with "breach locks", scan for bugs/cams (yes they do), a quick trip to the grocery to minimize room service, and I was set to roll.

I would leave my "clothes" under the top sheet, down at foot end of the bed. Nobody looks there for any reason. Then there was the curiosity hunt...lift bed up from pedestal and lift drop ceiling tile above sink in bathroom (the two favorite places for road warriors to dump their porn. Quite amusing, actually...lol.

yep, those days are over for me and I do not miss them. I still avoid air travel, restaurant food and rental cars whenever possible. I have had enough of that for a lifetime.
Could not imagine traveling for a living these days. It takes forever to get anywhere.

The most I do now is drive en femme (when it's a reasonable distance so I will have time to enjoy it), but I will work up to flying some day... I daydreamt about it the entire last trip

LOL you had me going for a split second... I've often thought about wearing them under a bulky sweatshirt so that even when I had to take off my coat, it would still require a good bit of scrutiny to realize what was going on (my forms/bra is 38C which isn't huge or extremely noticeable under baggy clothes)... but if the rest of the package wasn't femme... I keep thinking if they realized something was odd that I'd get pulled aside for sure. Anyone done this half-n-half approach?
