Slightly Different Twist to the Question...

Here is a slightly different twist to the original question... Have any CDs that belong to this site ever been discovered by non-CD friends, co-workers, family, neighbors, etc when they saw your picture or put two-and-two together from your picture or postings?

Oooooooooh yeah, have I ever been outed by this site!

As this tale can attest, letting our guard down can have short-term catastrophic effects. My son found out about Kathi, and it was kinda weird for awhile.

For you Safari users, it has a great mode called Private Browsing, which doesn't keep track of sites you have browsed to. It works great, as long as you turn the bloody thing on!!

I sometimes wish the owners would put this particular section or forum (M to F crossdressing) in the secure section. Google reads everything here and sometimes I've been too open and casual revealing stuff about myself that could help someone bust me.

Some here know that I go out, neighbors see me and all that. But I'm am still in the closet so to speak with work and some family. In a huge city you can hide in plain sight, but still have to be a bit careful.

If I were smart I'd just get off the net completely...but it entertains me and sometimes it fun to be a drama queen and attention ***** on various forums and picture sites. LOL

It works! Between setting firefox to erase all internet history when you close it, and ccleaner, you should be fine. (www.ccleaner.com)

If you're walking away for a sec, you can lock the screen by pressing the "windows key" + "L" keys together. (Set a user password)

I've moved in with my father for a while and he's a nosy butt, i just sit so he can't walk behind me and if I have to leave my laptop I lock the screen.

Luckily I was out to my wife when she discovered this site and I fell asleep on the couch with my laptop on and on this site. She saw it when she came down to find out why I had not gone to bed yet.

I wasn't wearing my Moms new dress, but does a pair of leopard skin fuzzy slippers count?

I originally was outted by her finding a copy of Ms. Veras Crossdress for Sucess in my computer bag. That is not the first book you want your spouse to read on the topic of crossdressing or transgenderism!

Don't worry about that too much. More concerned about work and some family reaching the site somehow and finding Theresa. Although I have to say I am worrying less about this every day. Maybe it's because I secretly want the rest of the world to know anyway!

Yeah, because if it was one of her old dresses, no problem, right?

There is a diversity of opinions about the value of "Evidence Eliminator"; someone who happened to have some spare time might be entertained by reading a variety of the reviews.

I think getting "Outed" can be one of the best things that can happen to someone..

Then after, you don't have to worry about hiding your true self & lying all the time...Right???

Isn't that what everyone here really wants in the end...so why put it off...

It wasn't this site that got me at work, it was my PDA, before I learned the little close button at the top doesn't really close things. Luckily it didn't phase the two of my coworkers who saw it. The kids who live with me and my wife know as do my parents so the only people I would have to worry about outing myself to on this site would also have to explain what they were doing here in the first place!

In Safari you can use the Private Browsing feature (Safari > Private Browsing) which doesn't save history or searches etc.....use it religiously. My wife doesn't care but it is just in case someone else (relative/friend) comes by the house and is poking around.

I agree with the others that mentioned Firefox. In the latest version (version 3.5.6 is what I use) there is a feature called "Private Browsing" when you switch to this mode the browser does not record any website history or cookies. No one will ever know even if you share your computer!

I had a very similar experience with my iPhone at work. I browse the net on it to keep myself amused while at work. I had left it on one desk while sitting at another and some one picked it up and opened the screen. I saw her and the guy sitting next to her glance at the phone and then glance at me strange. I had forgotten I had left this site open, the giant "Crossdresser Chat" advertisement was almost filling the screen.

Luckily the description blurb under the logo of this site comes out too small to read on the iPhone, so the whole thing looked like a banner ad. She asked me about it in a louder than normal voice. I acted my way out of it as if it was your run of the mill spam ad etc and nothing has been mentioned since.

I feel bad doing that, but I'm am not prepared to be open about my dressing (to people at work especially) for a myriad of reasons. I could care less about any gossip that goes on behind my back (the place is rife with it but that can't be helped). I can easily complain about privacy and no excuse about me not being on this site in the first place is irrelevant considering it's a personal phone.

    Inprivate Browsing

Im using the latest version of Internet Explorer. In the upper right hand corner there is a tab "Safety" Click on it you will get a drop down menu, Click on in private browsing. You will get a new window labeled InPrivate. Once you 'x' the window all browsing history is cleared from the Inprivate window.

Sure my kids have come into the room when I was cruiseing this forum. I am sure that over time they have seen the site. Nothing is said. I don't try all that hard to hide it anymore. This is who I am.

If someone were to ask why I am on the site, I will tell them, Because I am a crossdresser and I have a bunch of great friends on here.

I simply set up two user accounts on my computer with the screen saver set to automatically log off. You only need a simple two or three character password. If anyone needs to use it I log them in on the plain account. Not much to see there. If someone questions I tell them I leave my PC on 24/7 and I have my financial info on it. I don't like deleting cookies and history because when I go back I don't remember where I left off.

Talking to my computer guru the other day while he was setting up my new computer at work about the interesting things that he must see on other peoples computers. He told me about a couple of females computers that he had found nude photos of them on and then slyly winked and said that I should lose my gut if I wanted to look good in a mini skirt. Needless to say that he has worked on my home computer also. OOPS.

I'm pretty sure my neighbor noticed what was up on my screen. The heading for this page spells it out pretty clearly. I had just logged in when he came in and I forgot what was up on the screen.
It's probably not the only hint of what lies below the surface with me since I'm sure he has noticed a feminine scent on me before.

When I did that kind of work for the government (in Canada), the official policy, backed by "reasonable interpretations" of the several relevant laws, was that if I saw anything on someone's computer that did not in itself violate policy, that I was to keep my mouth shut about it, not even telling my direct co-workers who did similar work, and that I was not to bring it to official attention.

In the case of nude self-photos (which I never encountered on the work computers), the limits were that I was authorized to remind the user that if anyone else saw the pictures, that the other person might be uncomfortable and that could constitute a "hostile workplace environment".

In the case of anything that might be interpreted as "pornography" on the work computers, as well as the "hostile work environment" factor, I would have been required to take action, as pornography is specifically against our policy (nudity in itself is not against our policy: some of our employees study medical images.) However, I did have the discretion of speaking to the person and saying "You need to delete those pictures now or else I will have no choice but to pass this matter up for official investigation." My job wasn't to be a PITA snitch or to get people in trouble: my job was to stop the problem.

In my time on that job, I only had to take Official Action 3 times: everyone else reacted well to a "private word". The three cases where I had to pass matters up through the official channels, I am not permitted to speak about (unless specifically asked about them in court.)

In the USA, there were specific don't-report laws for systems administrators of public email systems who happened to see something in the course of their work, with the exception of imminent danger to life, or material that has to be acted on in order to protect the integrity of the systems. Those laws have been considerably weakened by the provisions of the Homeland Security Act... or so we are told, since we are not permitted to actually read portions of the Act or consequent regulations, for reasons of "National Security".
