    name

    First, if I'm "replying" to the forum subject incorrectly, let me know and how to fix it please ^^ Since I know there is replying to a specific person, and replying to the thread. I think. Oo Also, I introduced myself at the one main forum, but am I needed to introduce myself somewhere in the FTM specific forum? If so please give me the link to it.

    On to my name. It is Dante. Donovan my middle. My last name is Diorio-pronounced like oreo with a "d"

    I did search very long on names(thousands-seriously). I thought were good, looked up the meanings, after all, your name will reflect who you are (: I did have these already written down with a couple others from the start, Iit was meant to be ^^

    Dante=Latin-endure/to endure
    Donovan=Gaelic-dark warrior
    Diorio=Italian-of gold/golden

    Throughout my life I have had to survive and endure through very dark times, fight my way through it just to stay alive. Any time things seem to darken, I refuse to give in. I will fight to the very end. So, for me, these names couldn't be any better.

    So, the whole name will be Dante Donovan Diorio. I think it flows very nicely ^^ I do want to put a 4th name into it, it has a lot of meaning to me as well. I would go on further but I don't want to make a really long post and annoy anyone >_>;

    Given name was Melissa Ann Diorio. Not a bad name really, but it just isn't me, and I do loathe to hear it at work many times through the day. It's like nails on a chalkboard~

    No worries, Dante, you're good with your reply. You don't have to re-introduce yourself in the FtM section if you already have an intro thread in the main introduction section of the board. Nice to meetcha!

    I've actually gone by a bunch of names before, since I felt it was necessary to have a stage name to voice act under...
    Some people are lucky and are given an androgynous name they like. My parents gave me the name of Brittany, so that just will not do, ha ha! I'd like be known as Constantine. I just wonder if I should change my last name, since it doesn't really fit together...

    Well, my name is pretty unoriginal after reading all of you guys' responses haha. My given name is Jessica Erin, but now I go by Jesse Aaron. Little bit of a cop-out, I know, but I've been called Jesse all my life so I thought it would be easiest. :]

    On the subject of names, here's an interesting piece of trivia that I just found out recently....

    My mother asked me about my name a little while ago and why I chose Daniel. She then told me that I am not the first transsexual in the family lol - apparently one of my father's cousins (or something, "cousins" in my family could mean that they are second cousins several times removed or whatever, it's used to describe pretty much any kind of cousin, not just first cousins) transitioned years ago...and my mother had *assumed* (grrr) that I chose my name because this cousin's boy name had been Danny (and she has since transitioned to become Danielle but everyone calls her Danni).

    So there ya go, a little spooky, no?

    Well... I've never really liked my given name. Oddly I always felt it wasnt 'female' enough AHAHAH... I always said growing up I'd change my name, but my mother laid some guilt on me saying she GAVE me my name and it was special... So at 27 I still have it.

    I've always liked the names Vincent. Plus other names starting with V oddly.
    But Vincent has been the one that's stuck the longest and feels right. Wanting something flashy and amusing I've come into a full name of Vincent Vile. And thus Ive been to close friends ever since.

    I can hear my given name 1000 times a day, one person yells out "Hey Vinny!" And instantly my head goes up with a grin replying with "Sup?"

    To add to the creepy of Shawn/Shaun/Sean. My Ex's name was Sean Patrick Aw well XD

    Than have you love me

    I hate talking about my birth name, but for the sake of this discussion, I will share it.

    My birth name is Sara Jeanne (first & middle). My new chosen name is Daniel James (again, first & middle). Choosing my new name was based on actors... I'll say it flat out; I love acting, I love movies and classic television, I love actors. Early in my transition, I couldn't decide on a name. I remember really wanting my first name to be James, but my uncle's name is James. My dad's brother. I just thought that would be awkward... Well, I was very into Saturday Night Live at the time, and after a lot of hesitating and debate, I chose the name Daniel, inspired by comedian Dan Aykroyd. I tend to go by Dan. This REALLY disturbed my parents; they thought -he- was the reason I wanted to transition, ignoring the fact that for many years I dressed like a boy prior to being into his work. No, I did not intend to become the next Daniel Edward Aykroyd. Though I was certainly inspired by his acting.

    For the longest time I didn't know what middle name I wanted. I went through thousands of names probably... then I fell back on James. I justified the name's "value" by associating it with James Tiberius Kirk (The original captain on Star Trek, played by William Shatner) and James Montgomery Doohan (actor who played Scotty on Star Trek). So I decided I love Jimmy Doohan enough that the name was worth keeping, even though my uncle's name is James.

    Sometimes I regret choosing Dan as my first name but I can't think of a name that fits me better. Everyone says it's perfect for me. I "look like a Dan", they say. And I've been going by Dan since August of 2008. Almost 2 years. It would be kind of silly to change that now...

    I think about also changing my last name, but I know this will deeply insult my parents. However, they are deeply insulted by my transition too so I might as well give 'em the whole 9 yards. If I want to change my last name, I will. But I'm not sure to what yet. Very likely an actor's name, because well, I love actors like I said. Some people say, "Oh, please! Get your own identity!" Trust me... I know who I am, there is no confusion there. Most people are named after someone if their name wasn't chosen simply because mommy liked how it sounded or what it meant. So I don't see a problem here.

    I have not made any LEGAL changes yet. So showing people my ID is always very... unsettling.

    I looked through lots of boy names and made a short list but when it came to it nothing fitted. Then I was just about to give up and it was like Dan said the name chode me it jumped out at me and I was like yeah Felix that's it My ex at the time liked it and so did the kids so that settled it plus my love of cats kinda sealed it it also meant I would have the same initials as my Dad FF xx Felix

    My given name is mostly unisex.

    Alexis is my first name, which is unisex. RAD. It suits me perfectly.

    I have two middle names, Ann and Mathieson. I'll get rid of the Ann some day, so that my name can be completely unisex.

    So my given name and chosen name are pretty much the same.
    Come on goats, time to go home!

    Well, my first name, Thomas, was kindof decided in somewhat of a rush. I felt pressured to get a name quickly so that people would have something to call me OTHER than my given name. I just kindof wrote down every name I could think of on a piece of paper and played the elimination game. Well, actually, I didn't include EVERY name.. I have a list of cool character names that I like to use in stories, and while I thought it would be really cool to adopt one of those names, it would seem too... fake, almost? Somehow. I can't explain. So I just included common male names =P

    My original choice was actually Robert, who was a person from my past who I really respected and who had changed my life a lot. But I guess a part of me felt like I would be somehow dishonor the name by using it, so I took my second choice, which was his best friends name =P

    My middle name actually came about because of NiCo! (though he doesn't know it... he will now xD Thanks NiCo!)

    I actually read this post about it. And he had said that he let his parents pick out a name for him. I was inspired by this thought and wanted to try it out... but since I'm not really out yet, I was a bit more sneaky about it =P

    I asked my mom what she would name her son if she had another one, playing it off as if I needed a character name for a story. She said she's always liked Michael (as have I) and I thought it was perfect because my real middle name was Michelle... so it's quite similar xD

    Honestly I think I like my full name better than my first name just by itself. I guess because I didn't really put as much time or thought into picking out my first name as I would have liked to. I'm so used to it by now, though, and everyone's used to calling me it (I even have nicknames for it already), that I'm unsure if I'll ever change it. I don't know what I'd change it TO though. I've just decided that if a more perfect name pops out at me, I'll take it on, otherwise, I'm content with what I have. =P

    Theo. I just like it. I identified with a character in a book by that name a while back, and I kind of like Teddy Roosevelt. I've gone about recovering from asthma much the same way he did, with similarly positive results, so there's a second good association with the name, although Theo is almost infinitely better than Teddy or Ted, which I don't like much.

    My given name... is wayyy too unique to post on a forum, because I'm sure I'll be "found"... not that I care, personally, but for the sake of keeping the girlfriend's secret, I won't disclose it.

    I've gone through a lot of names; Davey, Alex, Gregory... but I've kind of just settled on being called "Mouse" because it's very gender-neutral. It just kind of works. ^.^;;

    OH MY GOSH, it's another mouse!

    Hey there! How's life in your cage?

    I don't feel comfortable sharing my birth name in the open, but I can tell you I hated it from the time I was little. First reason: It's a very common name - among sixty-some-year-old women. Second reason: I know way too many sixty-some-year-old women who share it. Third reason: My full name was assembled by mixing the names of my two grandmothers, which makes me feel like I don't even get an identity to myself. Fourth reason: It's acoustically unpleasant. (Think "Mildred.") Fifth reason: It's derived from an ancient racial slur. Sixth reason: It ties in very closely with the whole "precious daughter" identity my mother assigned to me as a child, and that has grated on me from the time I was very young.

    As for my male name, there really wasn't any huge symbolism to it. I was thinking of just using my initials (at least at first), but then I learned that that was very common and I wanted to avoid that. So I was trying on some different names and none of them really seemed to fit, and then I thought of William/Will. And I know of a lot of awesome guys (mainly fictional characters) with that name. Will Turner, Will Zimmerman, Will Riker... loads of very awesome guys that I identify with, admire, and/or find sexy. And it fit, so I went with it.

    (I actually did have an option presented to me immediately, which is the name my mother had picked for me if I had been a boy. I didn't feel like it suited me, though, and I have a cousin with the same name so it would have been awkward.)

    I haven't settled on a middle name yet. Right now I'm waffling between no middle name (which just seems badass) and Cameron (because I like it, and as something of a nod to a fellow artiste).

    As for my chosen last name, Hyde: Firstly, I want to change my name as a way to step away from my past. I know I've had a fairly good childhood, but belonging to my family at this point is very painful and I really don't feel like I'm a part of it anymore. I picked Hyde because it's unusual, because it fits my English heritage, and because it suits the whole "secret second life" thing I've got going.

    ok this is what I'd like to change my name to...hopefully...maybe some time in the future

    Given Name (first and middle only): Emily Katherine
    I was name after the female version of my grandfather's name and after Katherine Hepburn.

    Wanted Name (first and middle only): Oliver Robin
    I actually wrestled with the choice for my first name it was a tossup of Oliver, Felix and Peter(or Pietro) The name's don't have special significance, they were just names I loved since I was younger.
    Robin on the other hand is a very special name to me. So many awesome Robins that just make my heart fly, Robin Hood, Robin from the Batman series and especially Robin Williams! The most amazing guy, actor, comedian, joker just in all I adore this guy!

    So maybe with luck and courage and me moving far far away from my family and getting to live like I want to, I could change from Emily Katherine to Oliver Robin
    Don't judge a book by its cover, its the inside that counts...but right now my insides are tied in knots, missing, crumpled and half burnt.
    Not the best year thus far, hopefully it'll change

    My given name is something I won't own to :head-shake:

    I wanted to keep my initials, KD, as a kid that's what I made my family call me, to this day my mum still addresses me in writing as KD. An alternative variation in a name book I looked through for Kaden was Kaydee so it was perfect and requires minimal change for my loved ones.

    I was going to go with Shannon for a middle name to replace Sharon by my mother insists that Sharone is perfectly acceptable for a guy so wants me to simply add an "e" to the end. I'm cool with that.

    Therefore Kaden Sharone.
