Backscatter X-Ray while dressed

A week ago I flew to Orlando in male mode and had to go through the xray machine and failed the test due to a wallet in my back pocket. Yesterday I flew to LA for my first weekend as Michelle. It started off fine since I allowed plenty of time for the flight. I even had to wait at the gate for an hour because I allowed so much time for the security screening.

I couldn't find it written up about anyone going through the xray machine so I decided to be the first. Since it is still optional, I decided to intentionally go through the scanner. Everything went perfectly until I had to wait on the screener to get ok for me to go on. The xray person recognized something with my front torso, so I had a female TSA agent do a pat down on that area. I told her it was just breastforms and she quickly finished. Then because I had a foreign object on me, they required a bomb test on my hands. I quickly passed and was on my way in about 5 minutes.

So the moral to the story is that it is a little more trouble to go through those scanners but not much. So don't be scared to fly because it is such a non-issue. In fact I felt so much comfortable this flight (my 3rd) than any of the others. In fact on this one I talked a lot more and was my usual self.

I will be writing up on Tuesday about my weekend as Michelle. Thanks to AllieSF and Valarie Shields I will be given the royal guided tour of SF. I can't believe that after all of these years I am finally doing it.

those ex-ray machine's are a invasion of our privacy within our own clothing. and should be banned.
there are "other ways" to check and clear people. but great job getting on airplane, some thing i will not do..but for other reasons.

Michelle, that's great to hear. I don't fly, mainly because I don't have anywhere to go, but it's good to hear that those scanners are'nt as much trouble as I have heard.

It is a better way to get screened, the person seeing the images will never see you, they are locked in a room out of the area. It seems to be working really good and requires less time to get thru. If you are wearing forms you will get a full patdown though due to having a foreign object but it is quick.

Having recently flown from Atlanta to NY enfemme, all CD'ers should be aware of some TSA policies (whether they are written or not). As my real name doesn't match my enfemme appearance, I noticed that the TSA screener put a zero on my boarding pass instead of initials. Then I went to the remove the shoes (boots) line and put the carryon on the belt. I went through the new x-ray with no problem as the bra had no wires - but still, they called a female TSA person to do the patdown and then they swabbed every, every, every thing in the luggage! If they had fooled around a little longer, I would have missed the plane and I allowed more than enough time to get through TSA, etc.

I agree that the new technology is an invasion of privacy but it is only a matter of time that it becomes the rule. So i decided that I would find out what would happen and I was prepared to be taken to a private room. I was just determined that that machine wasn't going to stop me from flying. Luckily it was only a minor delay, but regardless of the results I was prepared to report my experience.

I am just very glad that I didn't end up with the strip search, but only a few minutes and you are on your way. So don't let the fear of the machine prevent you from flying dressed.

The new X ray machines may be getting banned. Why? The amount of radiation.

This is so looney what our country has become. We live in fear. This is just what the enemy wants. Now we are irradiating ourselves before we get into a flying tube that also exposes us to X rays (higher altitude = less air density, which means less shielding from rays).

I don't so much mind the explosive swabs, or patdowns. I have pretty much decided if or when I go flying I will wear a nice fitted trench, catsuit, and boots. THAT'S IT. A female can pad me down all she wants, but I am not going through a damned X ray machine.

As far as privacy is concerned, we lost that long ago.

We don't lose our rights and freedoms in one fell swoop. We lose them in increments, a little at a time. Suffice to say, this isn't the america I grew up in.
If everybody just didn't fly for a couple weeks, maybe they would back off this madness. It's only going to get worse from here.

It already is. I flew home today from LA and I had to go through the X-ray scanner. That was the only option available.

if I were the Tsa..I'd say no to any of the worn padding being worn going through the scanner, no wigs ,no gellied pads, no corseted bodies .corsets squeezing what from where to what end....6 hr flight cinched 6" for your row mate to be impressed ? nope! ( the secuer bording area has bathrooms for putting apperances back to gether)
I'v got an idea, I bet a blast of some sort of energy would set off what ever. ( not very techie) have the rider/flyer and there stuff all in the same room or moving side walk with whats needed to sheild everyone elles from the energy blast,but they get what they were going to "share" heheeh ,blow them up on the ground! no invation of privicy , no worrying about bra straps sillicone boobies or corset bones ! no limit on what you can bring along ,all that flies is charged by the lb., just like the rest of the flying baggage! ok so a tin foil helmet may be allowed to keep from frying the brain box ...quite so mutch ( that brings up the idea of plastic surgery implants and how to detonate them too.....ok no tinfoil helemets), set the microwave to HIGH..POOOF! !

( can you tell no one thinks enough of me to fly my butt at 20 000 feet somewhere for a half day, to do what ? brain surgery? if it were not for bad scheduling of life why would anyone need to go 600 mph anywhere?)
and if there are robot surgery tools...hi speed internet connections then the only thing that might need to be transpoerted from place to place is a tool .
then make super high speed pipelines , like 800 mph, evacuated for no friction( mag lev liner ac moters) for suasage shaped cargo containers that are to be treated like a photon in fiberoptic computers. in the ground or just above ground chasing the interstate highway system.

If we all carried guns, and there were 120 people on a plan with guns, who could pull the kind of SH** they are trying to protect us from. The terrorist are winning; we voluntarily submit ourselves to losing our freedoms in order to protect us from THEM. The people on the 911 flight that fought and died to protect themselves and others had the right idea. We cannot allow ourselves to be hearded to the slaughter like the Jews of Europe in the 1930-40's. When will the leaders of this and other countries quit catering to the fanatics; we just give in to their demands and we don't realized that we are doing so. The terrorists "won" right after the very first hijackers took planes to Cuba, half a century ago. Ever since then we have been wasting time and money on so-called "security." The initial response was to do what the hijackers asked, and no one got hurt. The "nobody gets hurt" ended in the seventies. 9/11 ended the "do waht they want" part, too.

I have thought for years that the security is just a facade. The lines will never go away, because if the lines get shorter someone with budgetary authority will decide there are too many screeners, and reduce them.

My solution, such as it is, resembles Paula's. Anyone with a Concealed Carry Permit (CCP) shows it at Security, along with whatever other ID is required. The CCP holder is then politely escorted past Security with no further checking. Neither Security nor the airlines will know whether the CCP holder is actually carrying. More importantly, no terrorist will know, either. In that way, no terrorist can ever know what they might face on the aircraft. Remember that CCP holders will have already have been subjected to background checks prior to issue of the CCP, and thus can be considered to be "Trusted Travelers."

I would feel so much safer if no one on the plane had guns. All we need is some over zealous person to shoot his gun at the wrong moment and then the rest of the passengers could be toast anyways if the structure is penetrated or some crucial cable or control line is severed or damaged. The protection systems in place and that will probably be added over the years is just a reflection of the crazy world that we live in. These systems are not perfect, but it is a lot better than letting any idiot on a plane with explosives or guns. The terrorists and hijackers and loonies would all have a field eday.
