Lightbulb Proxy or Straw Buyer Opportunity?

I apologize if this is not "the correct" part of the forum for this thread but it's the best one I could figure. So ....

It's come to my attention that some CDs can't easily purchase "things" - clothes, shoes, make up etc - via the internet due to the need to use a credit card which essentially "outs" them. So, I wonder if there might be some compassionate individuals (CDs or others) who would be willing to act as "proxy" or "straw" buyers to help these souls out?

If some are willing to do this, then I think we should have this as a sticky thread in the appropriate category.

After thinking about it, I can imagine that this is an issue for a lot of CDs out there and the "service" would certainly help them out.

Wouldn't it be easier to just get a prepaid visa and use it? That way you could use whatever name you wanted and it not tracable by the SO your lying to?

Or ask a friend if they would not mind taking in a parcel on your behalf so that your SO/housemates/parents etc did not see anything arrive so have no need to ask what was in it?

What I did for many years was to rent a post office box so my parcel delivery and billing would go there instead of home. I would place my order on a debit card rather than a credit card so the item would be billed to my personal checking account.

yes to the po box the usps boxes are the lowest priced ones. and get a checking account and then get a second name on it (after a couple months) then get a second card with the fem name. no problem buying or having it mailed to you.
also when i do buy online i just use the male named card and shipped to my fem name even the po box is just a number to them.
no company cares about you name (male or female) just as long as the numbers match and the check does not bounce, all is good.

Could also just consider honesty instead.

Considering how easily you an be scammed it;s not a good idea to be on either side of a proxy contract.

I have offered to do this in the past. I HAVE done this in the past for several forum members.

I repeat my offer. I will buy ANYTHING for a forum member and send it properly and safely wrapped with MY return address or NO return address if you wish. All for the cost of doing it. This has become easier with the new, "If it fits, it ships" arrangement by the PO.

    PM me if you wish.

I have done this in the past plus just given away clothes and stuff. Shopping for someone else is so hard. Sizes and styles. It would be easier if they used cash and bought all their clothing locally. That's what I did and still do... Its the easiest thing to do. You just have to get over your fears... No one cares what you by or wear. Imho.

if anonymity is that important. make 2 paypal addresses. verify one to your bank account, transfer money from the verified account to the other(shake fist at screen while you accept the 3% fee) then buy with the second paypal account. buy on ebay and instruct all venders that negative feedback will result if the package is not delivered in anonymous unmarked brown cardboard boxes. pay attention to tracking numbers and make sure you are the one home to receive the packages.

its easy enough, or you could just accept who you are and buy what you want, and be honest with those that are close enough to you to share living quarters with.

First - this is not for me. Second - how about a little compassion for those CDs who don't have a living situation that allows them to exercise this part of their lives. No one said that the SO didn't know about the CDing - perhaps not supportive in the least and even intolerant.

At least StephanieS gets it - thank you for doing what you do.

To the ADMINS - please put StephanieS's info (with her permission of course) in a sticky in the appropriate thread. This is certainly as important for some of the users of this site as the porn links near the bottom of the page.
