How many of us are there?

At any given time, there are 2 or 3 hundred of us girls on this site. If you take into account all the other sites about CDing, and the vast majority of us there must be who never go to any CD sites, there must be an incredible number of us worldwide. Must be in the millions. I read an article that said 4 out of 10 men have at least tried on women't underwear, and an estimated 2 out of 10 do it on a regular basis. That's a lot of people. Society's taboos are so unfair.

1 in 700 births is transgender per scientific fact. This number encompasses all aspects of gender flux continuum. To know an actual number for each fraction such as CDers, Transsexuals, etc. will be impossible until such time when it is no longer taboo subject. Looking at our culture though, we seem to digress rather then progress. In the ancient American Indian tribes, Two spirit people were held in high regard. Now transgender are still fighting to get recognized as "People". I'll say in perhaps another 2000 years maybe ( I am being optimistic here :-)!

    Hi Krystal,
Untill the Governent makes it mandatory that all CD's register
we will never know for sure just how many of us there are out there I
suspect the number is a lot higher than many people think it is.

    hiya KrystalA,

Statistics are just like Pick-Up Stiks...they are both just games with a lot of guessing and fluctuating totals, lol.

In my opinion, 7 out of every 4 men is a crossdresser,
and some crossdressers have trouble with math.

eluuzion, your estimate may very well be correct...LOL If all the CDers, or even the ones who have tried it once or twice, who don't admit it could be counted somehow, yeah, most everyone, I'd bet.

Krystal, no offense, but why worry about Taboo's? Sure they are there, but we still dress anyway! And yes, there a lot of us men who do dress enfemme. I have been a CD for over 60 years, and don't worry at all about taboo's. I dress enfemme and go out in public virtually every day, but always look like the man that I am since I do not wear a wig or makeup. And hardly anybody pays any attention to me!

I learned long ago not to worry about things over which I have no control!!

Well, Stephanie, where I live, I'm surrounded by nosy, gossipy old people who'd make trouble for me, so I don't dare leave the house en femme. Wish I could though.

Well it's not like we tend to answer surveys and come out from behind the curtain so like the number of licks in a tootsie pop, the world may never know.

On a side note, one of my college professors once told us "42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot."

Alexia -- I am definitely not trying to cause a problem or be negative. I'm just interested as to where that statistic came from. I'd like to look it up.

I believe that the numbers are high, but we'll probably never know--yes, more than 100!

Let's petition Congress to ask at the next census to count the crosses-dressers.
Say the count has to do with funding of something.
Why not, the information is to be kept confidential Right? LOL Rader

In other words, I don't have a clue and I doubt the data exists to come up with an honest figure. Leave it to say there are enough crossdressers that you don't have to feel you are alone in this. No one does.

Being transgender isn't a lifestyle choice. How you deal with it is.

Maybe we should be thanking society about the taboo's of cross-dressing.
The way things are, the Government would put a tax in CDing LOL Rader

that seems awful low. How dd they measure that fact? I have seen 5%-10% 1 in 700 would not even be 1% (.142 actually).
