    Question Irony Defined

I'm sitting here wearing panties, yoga capris and a t-shirt, while looking through a men's wear catalog for drab clothes for work. I think I need to get on some women's clothing catalog mailing lists. Any suggestions for those of us who are very big boned?

Check out www.onestopplus.com. They carry several brands, mens and womens - Roamans, Lane Bryant, Jessica London, Torrid, etc. Once you place an order, you'll start getting all the catalogs. Great coupons and great credit card terms as well!

I'll second that -- I get most of my clothes from OneStopPlus.com. They also carry men's big and tall, so I can get clothes there for both sides of myself!

Right on, Julie! Now if only they would carry shoes one size bigger, I'd be all set!

Oh, I KNOW! If they only went up to a 14 WW (or, dare I say, 15), I'd have so many more choices.

You're a bad influence. I'm sure my mother warned me against girls like you. I just got finished purchasing my first dress.

Congrats, Andrea - Wait till those catalogs with 30-40% off coupons start showing up! (Psst! I can send some coupon codes your way, let me know when you need one!) I've found some really great stuff there. Love the Amourouse brand satin PJs and robes.

Julie, I'm all over the place on shoe sizes. Depends on the brand I suppose. Usually can get by with a 13, but for Pleaser its 14-15. Pleaser does have some nice ones, but most are too fetishy or too high for me...the rest are just kinda plain.

I recommend joining their frequent shoppers' club. It's worth the small annual fee to get $2.99 shipping for all your purchases. When you shop as much as I do, that fee pays for itself quickly! And don't forget to check RetailMeNot.com and other online coupon sites for discount codes -- you can use codes for One Stop Plus, Woman Within, Roaman's and even King Size Direct.

Danielle, check out Barefoot Tess.com. They have great styles in large sizes. Many of them are pricey, but they often have sales and coupons. And they just released a new really cute bow pump that goes up to size 15, in four colors and at a reasonable price! I'm wearing the red ones in my profile pic. And what's great is that they list the actual dimensions for each size, since they can very widely between brands. I'm a men's 13 and generally take a women's 15, but I have a pair of gorgeous Madeline platform peep-toes in 14M that fit me like a glove, and they are so comfortable, despite being pretty high heels. I can also get by in a 14.5 (yes, such a size exists!) in Barefoot Tess' basic pump, which I bought at another site and got a good deal on but they were sold out of the 15 so I thought I'd take a chance (though the 15 fits much better). And the 14WW from Magdesians (bought through Endless.com and eBay) is very roomy on my foot.

Sorry to ramble, but its hard not to when talking about shoes!

    Julie

I wear a men's 15 or 16, depending on the shoe. I've gotten several pair of boots and shoes, brand is Pleaser, size 16, and they fit. They fit great. Pick your style and use google to search for the size. Some are even available on Amazon, but I buy from Pierresilber when I can, got to support the CD specialists when I can, especially when they offer competitive prices.

Edit: I have to add, you will find larger sizes in the most unusual places. There's a catalog called 'Delias' that offers up plus size junior clothing.
    http://www.delias.com
Fredericks of hollywood has some items in 3x sizes
    http://www.fredericks.com/
Alloy is another for plus size junior stuff:
    http://www.alloy.com/index.htm
A new one is simplybe: http://www.simplybe.com/
Lastly, some places just have something to fit almost everyone Including 6'4", 280 lb me:
    http://www.promdresses.com/
    http://www.davidsbridal.com/HomeView
    http://www.cheerleading.com/
    http://www.xdress.com

Love the schoolgirl look? All the tartan/plaid pleated skirt colors you want:
    http://www.sexyschoolgirlskirts.com/
And of course you need the white top to go with it, I got mine at
    http://www.avenue.com/default_JL.aspx
which used to be Jessicalondon.com, but most places have plain white tops.
But you'll need the tie, and that's where ebay really shines, I got mine from here: http://stores.ebay.com/maomelody
Ebay cosplay specialists will even make you the blazer with the emblem/patch on it, just like the real girls wear. There are lots of cosplay venders, mostly in China, who will custom sew a dress or uniform to your size, here are a few I've bought things from:
    http://stores.ebay.com/honestdragonchina
    http://stores.ebay.com/cosplay007
    http://stores.ebay.com/TSSY2005
    http://stores.ebay.com/Lotahk-Cospla...-Costume-Store
    http://stores.ebay.com/Little-Chili-Lolita-Shop

I'll come back and add places as I think of them.

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.

Thanks for the links everyone! I did not know about the coupons site, I found some good ones and used one tonight! Very good shoe sites.

Julie, looking in my order history, I've made 18 orders since last summer - the frequent shopper membership has come in very handy!! I did see that OneStop was starting to get some shoes up to 15, but I'm really into the combat boot look.

Lexi, Pierresilber is a great site - thanks for the link!

Be aware that JMS may out you, as will Hanes.com. If they're out of stock on something, they will send you a postcard, proudly telling you that YOUR SIZE 48B BRAS, PANTIES AND CORSET ARE OUT OF STOCK in big, bold print. They will send you one of these perhaps 3 or 4 times, so if you're not out to the postal and delivery people, you soon will be, not to mention anyone who accidently might get some of your mail (especially like a postcard which might get stuck in someone else's magazine or something).

I must be a popular size, or don't check the clearance pages often enough, because I almost never find my size in the clearance items I like! Pout.

The clouds part, rays of sunshine breaks through, The glimmer of hope that my size does exist. I have got to get some 13/14ww size shoes that really fit. I am also one of the big & tall gals that could rival Sasquatch. This thread alone has just made my day/week/month. And yes, I too was "outed" by a mailed shoebox boldly proclaiming large womens shoes. Sure I was embarrassed(first time), but they were MINE!

Marcy, there is definitely hope for us plus-size gals! And regarding packages, I've found it's worth the effort, if you have concerns about a shipper, to drop them an e-mail to ask how they mark the outside of their shipping containers. Great thing about OneStopPlus.com, they use the same packaging for any of their lines, including men's big and tall, and I've ordered from all of them. They do list the names of all their brands on the shipping bags, but who the heck is to know exactly what's inside?

Best of luck in your shopping!

Hi Marcy! Julie is absolutely correct, there is hope! When I first starting buying for myself (online of course) in the days when eBay was just getting started, it was almost impossible to find things in the right sizes. Now, its everywhere! Shoes can be a little tricky, but a simple search on eBay will find almost anything you are looking for. I do find it to my advantage to stick with the same brand whenever I can, since the sizing will be consistent. Pleaser for me, great selection and quality!

Shippers on Ebay are also great for using discreet packaging, the return address being usually just a person's name or something generic. (Ex. A.B.C., Inc.) Lets face it, when someone orders a size 16 high heel, well certain things can easily be inferred! They know what you are, appreciate your business, and keep it all private. Even in feedback, the item is listed as private. I can send along the names of some of the sellers who are a real pleasure to deal with and have earned my repeat business!

Andrea - thanks for starting this great thread! I hope we have stayed on topic as you intended in your original post! I suspect that maybe other members would benefit from some of the links and recommendations provided, as well as have more to offer. Have you thought about asking a mod to change the title to something more descriptive of what we are talking about, so others know to join in? Just an idea

I was tickled that people replied and the conversation took on a life of it's own. I had no idea I could request a change in the title; just need to come up with something snappy, like 'Big Deals and Tall Savings for the Big/Tall Girl'? And when you say ask the moderator, do I need to send them a PM?

    Kisses,

    Andrea

You can send a PM to Shelly Preston or Nigella, the mods for this forum, and tell them the title you'd like
